Lost A Loved One - Tips That Might Help You To Cope With It!

Each and every person on this planet has to deal with the loss of a loved one at some point of their life or the other. It is an undeniable and unavoidable part of the human existence. However, at times, the grief can affect the person so much that their psychological, emotional and physical health may be affected. Their normal day- to-day functioning may be affected as a result of their extreme reaction to the loss of their loved one. In such a case it is ideal to seek treatment from a certified medical professional such as a counselor or psychologist. If the condition is even more serious and the patient requires help to treat him or her, then it is advisable to go to a psychiatrist.

However, the following tips commonly given by mental health professionals may help to deal with such a loss:

  • Accepting one's emotion: Sometimes an individual may remain in denial about the loss of the loved one or about his or her own reaction to it. This increases the negative emotion as it does not find a medium of expression. The person withdraws into himself or herself, and is slowly unable to conduct the usual daily activities. The first step therefore is to fully accept the reality of the event and one's own response to it. It can help to speak to a friend or family member about one's own response, or even release the grief by crying. Such cathartic avidities are the first step.
  • Taking care of oneself: Often after the death of a loved one, an individual may become wary of his or her own condition and fail to look after himself or herself. This should be avoided. Normal diet, exercise and activities are required.
  • Channeling grief into productive activity: Constantly focusing on the loss of the loved one can increase the trauma and stress. Sometimes it helps to focus on helping others, e.g. Volunteering at a charity or assisting others in some way. Even taking up artistic pursuits or any productive hobby proves to be beneficial.

Ill Effects of Sodium Intake in Excess!

Ill Effects of Sodium Intake in Excess!

How to reduce sodium consumption through diet

Minerals and salts are important parts of our daily diets. These minerals play significant roles in the functioning of the human body but, if found in excess, they might adversely impact your health. One such mineral is sodium, which is abundant in most food sources.

Sodium is present in every food in the form of salt. Most forms of meat, canned vegetables and soup, junk food and pickles are some examples of food which are naturally high in sodium. Apart from this, any cooked food will have salt crystals within it. Medical research has shown that most people consume more sodium than what is recommended.

Ill Effects of Sodium Intake in Excess

  1. The most common problem caused by the excessive consumption of sodium is high blood pressure.
  2. High blood pressure, apart from being the cause of strokes can also affect internal organs like kidneys and cause renal failure over time.
  3. It can also be detrimental to the heart and be a contributing factor to heart conditions as well.

Here are some of the ways through which you can reduce sodium intake through changes in diet.

  • Increasing the intake of fruits within the diet - Inclusion of more fresh fruits in your diet will reduce the amount of sodium consumption. Canned and processed fruits may increase sodium consumption and hence should be reduced.
  • Changing to fresh unprocessed meats - Certain processed and packaged meats such as in snacks and fast foods should be avoided as they have high sodium content. Hence, consumption of fresh meat instead of processed meat is an effective way to reduce your daily sodium intake.
  • Including more leafy vegetables in your diet - Leafy green vegetables such as kale, spinach, and celery have a lot of water and also help reduce the sodium intake in your body.
  • Drinking plenty of water - Sodium levels can rise within the body when it is dehydrated. Thus, it is prudent to always keep your body hydrated by drinking plenty of water.

I have a girlfriend and I m madly in love with her. I m an 18 year old guy and my friend told me that it is not love. It's infatuation. He told me that one cannot be in love with someone before 23 years or around till the brain gets fully developed. I know it is love and not infatuation but I wanna ask you whether my friend is wrong or I? Is it related with hormonal or brain development or something?

I have a girlfriend and I m madly in love with her. I m an 18 year old guy and my friend told me that it is not love....
I have never known the brain to get fully developed by 23 years! And yes, you are all of 18 years and can never say that this is your true love because you are still very young to realize, what true love is. So in all probability you are infatuated, however real this feeling of yours is. Now is there something wrong with infatuation? Don’t you feel great for being in your infatuation? Of course it does and that is all that matters. You just enjoy this feeling and the relationship as long as it lasts. I am also sure that this girl is either the same age or younger than you and so her feelings are also subject to hormones and she is still quite immature. This is a phase all youngsters go through and you need not feel bad about it or feel the need to defend yourself. Just enjoy yourself and let people call it what they want.

You can get some help from the doctors to administer medicines through her food or drink. This way you could get her to become more amenable to therapy and to tolerating you. No one will give you a prescription online without meeting a doctor in person. In the meantime please see if you can get her to do the following sincerely because she could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest she does the opposite of what this depression makes her feel like doing (actually, not doing): she will need to fight this condition. She must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer herself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose herself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please make her incorporate these three important adaptations in her life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If she did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Have her pray and have faith in God to alleviate her sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Let her use her own motivation, which might be at its lowest, butif she perseveres she will win this battle. Above all to be really happy, she needs to live in love and for love. She should learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get her out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate her, all the hard word must come from her, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for success. She should be positive every day and learn to be contented with what she has. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do calisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens have her cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

Stress does have a role in menstrual rhythm but no particular food has been related to this. Please consult a gynaecologist for treatment of this, as it may cause problems later on if neglected.
