I am suffering from seboherric dermatitis of scalp. My hair almost have been lost. After shampoo my scalp get too much dry and itchy. I am using ketoconazole 2% shampoo but the same is not effecting. please suggest me the right treatment.

Exact cause of seborrheic dermatities is not known but it may be due to stress, genetic, a yeast that normally lives on skin, certain medical conditions and medicines, cold, dry weather. Use oil massage on scalp whenever you wash hairs. Apply ketoconazole 3 time in a weak, not use any other shampoo and only one oil whatever you want like almond oil, coconut oil, olive oil or sesame oil.

You follow 7 days diet plan in which you can loss 3-5 kg in week. 1st day - in morning 1 glass of lukeworm water with 1 spoon alsi powder or 1/2 spoon methidana powder then walk for 45 minutes. Every 2 hrs you take fruits except banana n in lunch n dinner time take dal + salad then 2nd day in breakfast take boiled potato n vegetables place of fruits n lunch n dinner same as first day then 3rd day take mixture of fruits and vegetables n lunch dinner same then 4th day take 3 glass of milk n 6 banana lunch n dinner same then 5 th day take 1. Cup boiled rice n 6 red tomato only 6 day take 1 cup boiled rice n vegetables (boiled / raw) 7 days all foods can you take. N drink lots of water.

Pus - Pain is a common problem in patients of Otitis Media. It may also be because of fungus in the canal. If there is a perforation of the ear drum, you have to get it operated. Do not waste time. Once the ear is dry, get operated. Also note that in rainy season, fungus may also grown in the ear canal. You need to get it checked by ENT doctor, get it cleaned and take medicines accordingly.

You need to have diet plan based on your BMI & activities. Whatever we eat is metabolised by the body for the energy needed to do daily work and the excess is stored as fat. Abdomen is the first place to gain weight and last to disappear. In brief, Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs / chest etc. To burn off fat. Some tips 1) Drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) Take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. As half of your diet. Then take 1/2 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. Should be just bare minimum. And do aerobic exercises, running, jogging or at least walking briskly 3-5 KMs and swimming if possible, and in a gym if feasible. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise & dieting to take just as mush food as needed for your activities. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. Opt for foods that are baked, broiled or steamed versus fried or swimming in creamy sauces. Avoid chips and bread baskets—they add unnecessary calories. •Stay hydrated. People often mistake thirst for hunger. •Eat breakfast. If you skip this meal, you'll be starving by lunchtime. Did you get checked for any hormonal imbalance, I would suggest you visit an endocrinologist to diagnose & treat any underlying cause as laser will reduce the thickness of the hair but if you have any imbalance, treatment should be taken to control further growth.

*take 10 gms powder of carom seeds (ajwain, 10 gm powder of cumin (jeera), 10 gm of rock salt. Mix them well and take 1/2 teaspoon (3-5 gm) of mixture daily after meal. *take 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper (kali mirch), 1/ 2 tea spoon of jeera (cumin), 2-3 slice of ginger. The simplest method of removing minor surface stains is polishing, or micro-abrasion if staining is more intrinsic. Provided that your discolouration is not due to inadequate enamel exposing the dentin, tooth whitening (bleaching) is often the most effective treatment for yellow stained teeth. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply snowdent paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min. Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results.

A Quick Guide to Geriatric Nutrition

Special nutritional needs are often required in special circumstances. Unlike adults from 20 to 60, children and elderly people have specific needs as their physical requirements are different. Just like pregnant women need tailor-made diets for their specific needs, children and elderly people also require appropriate diets without too much variation.

The requirement for geriatric or elderly nutrition

As the body ages, certain functions within are slowed down and thus, the processes are not able to completely recuperate and replenish what was lost. Certain functions are affected more than others and hence, need specific nutrients to regenerate.

Tips for Geriatric Nutrition

Let's take a look at some of the specific diet requirements as well as certain items, which should be avoided.

1. Consumption of calcium rich foods - Bones are a part of the human body that tend to suffer a lot of wear and tear and they start showing signs of weakening after 60. It is thus, important to replenish calcium in the body to help the bones get their building blocks. Some examples of calcium-rich foods are almonds and green leafy vegetables like kale. Dairy products are also good as long as the fat content within them is low.

2. Keeping the body hydrated - Although physical activity reduces with age, dehydration can still occur within senior people and thus, it is important that they remain hydrated. Simply drinking water may not be enough and juices or other water-rich foods such as watermelons should be used to supplement for hydration.

3. Lessening sodium within the body - The presence of excess sodium in the body can cause blood pressure to shoot up and result in high blood pressure, which may then further result in more ailments like strokes. It is pertinent that foods rich in sodium such a red meats be lessened or cut out of the diet altogether.

4. Lessening sugar consumption or any other foods that may exacerbate diabetes - Another factor to consider is the consumption of sugar and sugar-filled products. Not just for diabetics, but elderly people have a tendency to develop high blood sugar and hence, it is prudent to reduce sugar intake.

Most youngsters today be they students or adults pursuing a career, skip on the most important meal of the day-breakfast. This may be due to many factors ranging from either no time, not hungry, or even to lose weight. As a result they are famished by mid day and tend to gorge on whatever available around.

Now this is one big myth I want to dispel especially for the last category of people trying to shed pounds. In fact skipping breakfast actual leads to add on pounds, since the body over a long over night fast is lying low and unable to perform physiologically. That actually means slowing down the metabolism of one's body, thereby leading to gaining fat mass. Lesser the body is put to work, more the output of energy, causing one to be lethargic, listless and unable to cope with the day. On the contrary a good protein based breakfast helps boost metabolism acting as a kick start for the day. In case of students it increases their attention span in school thereby boosting their scholastic performance. It is not important how much is eaten for the first meal, as is important that the quality or composition of the meal is healthy. That means a good protein base with moderate and complex carbohydrates and low fats.

Therefore, one small message of the day is never to skip breakfast and eat wisely whenever you set out for your day's job.
