Occasional irregularities in periods can happen don't worry much about it only thing is repeat your urine test for pregnancy once again to confirm the status and then wait for your next cycles if you find that also scanty or irregular then consult a gynaecologist and get it checked.

Hello doctor Can I do complicated yoga poses like kobra pose, bow pose, child pose, noka aasan, and any kegel exercise during periods.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hello doctor
Can I do complicated yoga poses like kobra pose, bow pose, child pose, noka aasan, and any kegel exercis...
Hello- As you are asking about yoga postures, I am going to tell what ayurveda has to say on your question. Ayurveda states that any kind of physical exertion yoga/exercise/running can obstruct the flow of menses and can cause the re-absorption of the toxic menstrual blood in the body causing gynecological problems (like PCOD, fibroid) or skin problems. Due to over sensitive nature of uterus at the time of bleeding, improper dietary intake such as fast foods ,spicy foods etc also can cause problems in future. So I advice you not do yoga/exercise during your menses.

Abnormal (Dysfunctional) Uterine Bleeding - Treatment + Management

MBBS, MD - Obstetrics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Abnormal (Dysfunctional) Uterine Bleeding - Treatment + Management

Any kind of bleeding from the uterus, which is not normal, can be termed as abnormal uterine bleeding. This refers to bleeding between periods or before periods, bleeding after having sex, spotting, abnormally heavy bleeding or bleeding after attaining menopause. If you are suffering from any of these issues, you need to check with the doctor.

Diagnosis
It is very important to diagnose abnormal uterine bleeding. There are several examinations and tests that have to be carried out, depending on age. For irregular spotting, a pregnancy test can be undertaken in case you think you could be pregnant. If your uterine bleeding is very heavy, a test has to be performed to check blood count. This is done to observe whether you have anemia. An ultrasound test of the pelvic region will also be advised by your doctor to know the cause of the bleeding. Several hormonal tests and thyroid function tests are required as well.

Other diagnostic tests include:

  1. Sonohysterography: When fluid is placed within the uterus and ultrasound images of the uterus are taken. An image of the pelvic organs is obtained.
  2. HysteroscopyIt can be carried out when a device is inserted via the vagina and enables the doctor to examine the uterus internally.
  3. Magnetic resonance imaging: This is also used to get images of the organs.
  4. Endometrial biopsy:  It involves insertion of a catheter to take out a tissue which is microscopically observed. Mirena is also inserted if ultrasound and biopsy is normal to control bleeding.

Treatment
There are different types of treatment for abnormal uterine bleeding depending upon factors such as the cause of bleeding and the age of the patient.

  1. Medications: Several medicines are used to treat abnormal uterine bleeding. Sometimes hormonal medicines are used. Birth control pills are also used to improve the regularity of periods. Hormonal infections, vaginal creams and an IUD device releasing hormone can be used. Non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are also used to control bleeding. Several antibiotics may also be prescribed.
  2. Surgery: In some cases of abnormal uterine bleeding, a woman has to undergo a surgery for the removal of growth such as polyps and fibroids, which results in bleeding. While some fibroids can be removed via hysteroscopy, others require different techniques for treatment.
  3. Endometrial ablation: It can be undertaken to control bleeding. This mode of treatment aims at reducing the bleeding permanently. In case all treatment methods fail, hysterectomy has to be carried out. This is a serious surgery and after it is performed, a woman does not have periods anymore and will not be able to conceive a child.

Abnormal uterine bleeding is a serious health condition, which may lead to severe complications. Immediate diagnosis and appropriate treatment methods should be undertaken in case of any abnormal uterine bleeding. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

Hello! Lets answer your queries one at a time 1. Issue of ovulation occuring on day 16, it is absolutely normal, it is around the 14th day of menses in females with a 28 day cycle, your cycle is longer so without drugs it might be later. 2. If it has been 8 weeks since taking treatment, you should get a TSH and free T4 done done without taking your morning dose of thyroxin. In a girl trying to conceive we would like the TSH to stay below 4.5, preferably below 3. 3. Cycle from 24 to 35 days are just variants of normal, do not get perturbed. 4. Decreased cervical mucus: are you taking some egg forming medicine? Some cause this. Hope this helps.

Vaginal tightening can be achieved by- 1.Vaginal tightening creams. These act by strengthening the muscles. 2.Kegel's excercises-consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. 3.Vaginoplasty operations.

I pilll is not like something of chocolate or coffee, that you can take whenever you wish. It has serious side effects. Pregnancy test has to be done in a particular time of period and i pill has also particular time. If you can't follow this, the treatment would be difficult. Just consult doctor and get the solution.
