Hello, Thanks for the query. It is difficult to answer based on one reading given. Because those two levels do not look like the patient has diabetes (unless these are after taking the tablets). I can only answer if you give me the HbA1c% value. Thanks.

By abortion do you mean miscarriage?Your TSH level is high and IG g high is a sign of past infection so you need not worry about that .You need to take thyroxine supplements TSH levels have to be maintained at or below 3.5 for conception.Better you take a gap of 3 months to conceive again.

I have heard that if you start taking thyroid tablets then you have to take it for life long. Is that true?

MBBS, Ph.D. Alternative Medicine
Alternative Medicine Specialist, Patiala
In case of Hypothyroidism(thyroid gland not working fully) one has to use Thyroxine tablets throughout life. But in Alternative Medicine(Herbal treatment) that I have been practicing for the last more than 16 years it is possible that one may give up the tablets in about an year's time

I'm diabetic melitus. Suffering from last 10 years. Currently it's in control. My waight is 57 kg age 45 years. How can I increase my weight?

MD - Diabetology, Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons (MRCS), MBBS
Endocrinologist, Kochi
Why exactly do you want to increase your weight? it's best to be" under weight, especially since you are a diabetic.

I have junevile Diabetes (type-1) from 12 years. On the end of November 2017's night due to occurrence of hypoglycemia with epilepsy my shoulder got dislocated with minute crack. I undergone shoulder reduction in local hospital but the doctor can't fix the issue. Here I told the doctor I had Diabetes problem and how the shoulder get dislocated. Then I shifted to another hospital there due to some reasons my parents told that the incident happened due to an accident. There I was again undergone shoulder reduction with surgery. K wire was used here. Now I was fine somehow. But upto 60% of my shoulder movements are restricted. My question: Is there any specific treatment for shoulder dislocated due to hypoglycemia? Also how can a diabetic person (type 1) gain weight? HbA1c - 8.3 (currently) HbA1c-7.2 (before 3 months)

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. There's no relationship between hypoglycemia and dislocation of shoulder joint. That is purly due to fall & injury. Further there's no special treatment due to hypoglycemia. As regards the weight gain, a diabetic person can gain weight & build muscles too. But first blood glucose has to be under better control. HbA1c % should be around 6.8% After achieving good control and adding extra proteins to diet one can build muscles. Thanks.

Hi Anam Numbness of your hands could be related to thyroid problem. There might also be deficiency of vitamin B-12. You should start exercising daily for 30 minutes. simple aerobics will be enough. Start taking calcium, vitamin-D and Vitamin B-12 supplements. One tablet of calcium daily and One for Vitamin B-12 daily For vit.-D take cholecalciferol sachet weekly for 6 weeks. This solution is for now but it wont be permanent. For a permanent solution your thyroid problem needs to be treated and that is POSSIBLE with HOMOEOPATHIC medicines; you will be cured and there wont be any need of taking thyronorm. Your migraine will also get cured. For this a proper consultation is required so that your case can be analysed and treatment given accordingly. For this you can consult any good homoeopath or me as you are in Delhi only. Otherwise you can make good use of Lybrate.

Hello, Your wife is suffering voiding symptoms- that means she is not able to urinate normally- voiding symptoms usually include hesitancy in initiating flow- the patient takes a couple of minutes to actually start to urinate; she may also complain of intermittency- that is starting and stopping the urine flow; poor stream of urine etc. This could be due to a few reason 1) age related detrusor muscle (muscle of urinary bladder) weakness 2) urethral stricture, urethral wall diverticulitis etc (some obstruction in her urinary pipe), 3) some mass in pelvis 4) consolation etc. So, I would suggest you to consult a good urologist and take his opinion. Hope this helps you. Thank you.
