Knee Advice... Avoid sitting Cross legged. Avoid Squatting. Quadriceps Exercises. Core Strenthening Exercises. Hams Stretching. Sports Taping Hot Fomentation. Shoulder Advice... Regular Stretching of Shoulder Muscles. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation.

This could be due to oa knee &/or obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days caldikid plus (mankind) 1 tab odx10days you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Don't ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

David contains sertraline. The problems you have mentioned are definitely not due to sertarline. At your age this can be due to hormonal issues, deficiency of vitamins and minerals like calcium etc. Consult an endocrinologist for the same.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned backache as your mother's problem. You are actually very young to have persistent backache. If there is only localized backache with no other associated symptoms like radiating leg pain, numbness, paresthesias etc, and no systemic symptoms like fever, loss of appetite, loss of weight etc, my advice to her for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - to maintain proper posture while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or even tab paracetamol which suits you - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied 3-4 times in a day - analgesic spray for local application like dynapar qps spray can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc if there is no improvement in 2-3 weeks with this conservative management, we will need to evaluate her further in form of dynamic x rays to look for any instability as a cause for pain and some blood investigations to rule out any deficiencies etc. You will have to consult a dermatologist for your issues about skin lesions. Posture correction must. Do hot fermentation twice a day. Avoid long sitting toward bending lifting heavyweight, do spine stretching exercise in daily routine. If it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment must.

Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

I would like to examine you in detail & investigate. Anyway it may be tried. Do hot fomentation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1 tab od x10. Make sure that, there is no allergy to any of the medicines. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid, vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Always sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful. Use no pillow under the head. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, Please inform.

Hi Dr. My father suffiring from knee pain and swelling his age is 56yr. He has not any problem in walking. Hello if there is not much problem in walking and as you say x-ray report are normal, I suggest you to start physiotherapy treatment. Meanwhile. Suggestions for the application of ice and heat ice is an effective and natural pain killer and anti-inflammatory. Whenever you experience swelling, redness or sharp / stabbing pain it is generally considered best to apply ice. Repeat until symptoms ease? usually for 24? 48 hours. Following this you should alternate with ice and heat. If in doubt, contact your physiotherapist. Application place ice cubes in a plastic bag or use a professionally prepared ice pack. Place a damp face washer or tea towel over the problem area then place the ice pack on the material covering. The first application should be as follows:- 10 minutes on 10 minutes off 10 minutes on 10 minutes off 10 minutes on then during waking hours, apply the ice pack every 2 hours, or as indicated by your physiotherapist. As the inflammation reduces, it is often beneficial to apply heat between ice. 10 minutes on ice 10 minutes on heat 10 minutes on ice 10 minutes on heat 10 minutes on ice 10 minutes on heat heat is an effective therapy for reducing muscular tension and pain and is best used after the initial inflammation has subsided. N. B. If you do not have ice immediately available, then use a pack of frozen peas or similar item. Do reply for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Best wishes.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings.

Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.
