Get her audiometry done. It will rule out hearing problem. Stop using earphones for conversing on phone. Whenever using use it at low volumes.

I m a 35 yr old man weight 65 kg height 5.5 ft. When I was 16 a friend hit me on my right ear and I got a deep tone and about 50% hearing loss and damage eardrum. After that and till now some time my ear flows and got some different noise. I've x-ray report and doctor suggesting me for operation. Let me know how good it will be after operation.?

DNB (ENT), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
Hi You seem to have chronic suppurative otitis media (csom). Based on the history provided and the 50% hearing loss + damaged ear drum + occasional flowing of discharge and tinnitus means the ear is getting infected repeatedly and has a chance of worsening if the infection spreads deeper into the ear or to other neighbouring structures. It is therefore recommended that you undergo surgery to have this corrected.

He has à speech problem he can hear but can'speek. I am consulted with doctor. He said it will take time. Have you any suggestion for him?

BASLP
Speech Therapist, Ahmedabad
Hi consult a speech therapist near by you. Go through the complete speech and language evaluation. Then and only your speech therapist can guide you what to do for your baby. If he is suffering from any associated disorder with speech delay (means speech language development is not age appropriate) then go through speech therapy, it will definitely help him.

No its not possible as there is no medicine to cure this problem. Certain things also depends on your degree of Hearing Loss but mostly likely you have to use the machine only.

My father 67 years old. He is having hearing problem. Very near only can hear sound. What is the treatment. If go for hearing aid howmuch cost comes. Or operation can do?

Master of Hospital Administration, Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology (B.A.S.L.P)

First get the proper hearing test done. Audiometry test. According to the report if its sensorineural loss then no any medicines or surgery is gonna help. Best way is to go for digital hearing aids (progmble). Cost will be different as per style quality and power of the hearing aids. You cn go for entry level hearing aids if finance is a matter of concern. It vl b arround 12000-20000 each. Share the audiometry report I cn guide you better.

It could be due to tympanic membrane rupture following exposure to loud noise. Get your ear checked by ent specialist and follow the advice and treatment.

She was normal at the time of birth but due to an accident she got fractured her left leg and hospitalized her about 1 month and took too much medicine for recovery her, date time she was only 5 years old.she was heard up to 13 years of her age and slowly slowly she is getting hearing problem. i consulted with the ENT doctors and they only said that she has nerves problem due to the medicines she was taken at the time of fractured and take audiography test and put hearing aid but she is only 21 years old now and study.so please tell me what to do and whom i need to consult about this.

MS - ENT, DNB (ENT)
ENT Specialist, Delhi
She will need a detailed evaluation to determine the cause of her hearing problem. following that she will need to be on observation to look for deterioration in her hearing status. if the diagnosis of sensorineural deafness is correct she is likely to benefit from hearing aids. that should not be a problem - people move around with glasses, walking sticks, artificial knees etc - using a hearing aid is hardly considered a stigma in modern society. she will benefit greatly, will be able to hear and understand better so she will become a better student. her quality of life will be much better. for any further detail you can call up my clinic in delhi for an appointment - 011-26140058. warm regards

If the ent has already suggested not to go for a surgery don't go for it. But keep monitoring your hearing loss by getting it checked in every 6 months at least.

I am 78 years old on Diwali night this years I lost my hearing capacity up to 50 percent. It happened due to a cracker burst before me. consecutive clinic tests confirmed the damage I am not using any hearing aids. Suggest remedies .

At this age people are more prone towards hearing loss. If you are advised to use hearing aid by any professional you must use it as soon as possible, because delay may lead to hearing deprivation. & this is not a temporary threshold shift for impulse noise I guess.

When Should You Go For A Hearing Test?

MBBS (M.A.M.C), M.S. ENT
ENT Specialist, Delhi
When Should You Go For A Hearing Test?

Here are 6 signs to watch out for that could indicate 'You need to get your Ears tested':

1. Your TV is blaring: Do you often find people around you shouting above the TV sound complaining that it's too loud? When you find it hard to hear the TV at the average volume and find yourself turning up the sound, this could signify a hearing loss. Doctors are seeing a growing number of patients visiting them after prolonged exposure to loud music and sounds.

2. You find it hard to hear phone conversations: Do you find yourself asking the person on the other end of the phone line to 'repeat' themselves, or find yourself pressing the phone instrument right into your ear? If you are trying so hard to hear, you might find yourself missing out on bits of the conversation as focussing to clearly hear the conversation is exhausting work. Getting a hearing test might be a good option if this sounds like you.

3. You have trouble hearing in noisy environments: When you are out dining with friends or family at a busy restaurant or accompanying a friend shopping in a busy street, all that background noise makes it difficult to hear what the people are saying. People with hearing loss often have problems masking out background noise.

4. Family members telling 'you're going deaf': Trust the views of the people closest to you, they never lie about your health. Family members often are the first to sense signs of hearing loss as they find themselves repeating things to you or calling out louder to get your 'attention'.

5. Leaning closer: You find yourself leaning closer to people to follow the conversation or staring at their lips trying to lip-read what's being said.

6. Avoiding social interactions: You find yourself staying away from social occasions, family gatherings or avoid being the first to start conversations. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ENT specialist.

Hello Doc, I am 24 years old working women with height 164 cm (5'4"). Over the course of time I have gained weight and now its stable between 61-62 kg. Although I have google a lot about diets and weight loss food tips, but I would love to hear from a dietician that is there any blood group specific diet that one should follow to reduce weight and fat. I am a bit reluctant to go and spend money on diet charts prepared by dietician because I cannot afford that much because I am average earning person. So I am asking for a response from your side if there is something called diet and diet tips and any blood group specific diet to reduce weight and fat, I would love to hear that.

There is no blood group specific diet .You need to have diet plan based on your BMI & activities. Whatever we eat is metabolised by the body for the energy needed to do daily work and the excess is stored as fat. Abdomen is the first place to gain weight and last to disappear. In brief, Weight reduction can be achieved only by reducing the intake of food 1/3 of what you take now. And by appropriate exercise plans for each part like belly, thighs, legs / chest etc. to burn off fat. Some tips 1) Drink three or four cups of water whenever you feel hungry and just before eating food 2) Take boiled or raw vegetable like cucumber, carrot etc. as half of your diet. Then take 1/2 of your total diet as sprouted pulses / proteinaceous food like roti, cooked pulses and remaining with rice or other carbohydrates. Oil or ghee etc. should be just bare minimum. And do aerobic exercises, running, jogging or at least walking briskly 3-5 KMs and swimming if possible, and in a gym if feasible. The most important is to burn off the energy intake by exercises. There is no short cut or medicines without exercise & dieting to take just as mush food as needed for your activities. The food we eat is utilised for our energy needs and the remaining will be stored as fat which leads to obesity. It is better to do some tests. A DIET CHART Timing Foods To Eat Calories Early Morning Lukewarm Water with Lemon 1 glass 0 Tea without Sugar + 2 Biscuits 90 Breakfast 2 Rotis + 1/2 cup Paneer Curry 330 OR Brown Bread Upma 1 plate + Milk 1 cup 300 Mid-Morning 1 Banana/1/2 cup Melon/20 Grapes 50 Lunch Brown Rice 1 cup (195 gm) + Mixed Vegetables 1/2 cup + Salad 1 bowl + Raita 1 small bowl 345 Evening Butter Milk 1 cup 35 Dinner 2 Rotis + Vegetable Soup 1 bowl + Salad 1 bowl 370 Total 1220/1190 Cal
