Its advisable to visit your dentist and get a X ray done. The clear picture of permanent teeth which are not erupted yet, can be confirmed only by X ray. Otherwise, 8 or 8.5 years is a common age for upper central or lateral teeth to erupt and it might be delayed with boys, so you need not panic. But you can have an X ray done to rule out any other problem and keep visiting your dentist for follow up after every 1-2 months.

This condition of repeated ulcers is called Recurrent Aphthous ulcers and can happen because of many reasons, usually common in females and can be due to stress, improper lifestyle, certain medications, hormonal disturbances etc. You should visit your dentist to get a proper diagnosis done and they will prescribe you with proper treatment. If you are on certain medications do discuss about that with your dentist or you can carry the prescriptions along with you. Its important to have a stress free lifestyle so you can modify it by healthy eating habits, good amount of fruits specially cirtus fruits which have vitamin C and proper exercise or yoga, meditation. But its important to visit your dentist for proper diagnosis. Regards.

Most of the people have these questions in their mind that which toothpaste is best for cleaning their teeth or which toothbrush is best for plaque removal.

Well,  the answer to these questions is Using a good brushing technique, which can be demonstrated on a model by a dentist

It can be mastered using any toothbrush and toothpaste.

Effective toothbrushing technique is a key to prevent most oral diseases.

Details of procedure
The aim of good toothbrushing is to remove plaque from the gingival margins, and to protect the tooth surface with a layer of fluoride. Many toothpastes are available to patients (fluoridated, tartar controlling, desensitising, whitening, etc.), and the oral health team will advise the most suitable in each case.

Similarly, many toothbrush designs are available – both manual and electric – but, as a general rule, the head should be small to allow easy manoeuvrability, and the bristles should be multitufted and made of medium nylon. Even so, some patients brush with such force that they actually saw into the necks of their teeth and produce abrasion cavities or cause gingival recession.

Technique:
• Identify those patients with regular residual plaque after toothbrushing
• Wet the patient’s own brush, apply a small amount of toothpaste and allow the patient to brush his or her teeth in the usual way and in the usual time
• Disclose the plaque to identify the areas of continued accumulation
• Develop a more thorough technique with the patient to remove all the plaque
• This may involve a change of brush from manual to electric, or vice versa, as well as a change of brushing technique by the patient
• Once an effective technique has been identified, a methodical approach should be developed so that a routine brushing technique is carried out every day
• This tends to be more effective if the more difficult areas are tackled first, such as the lingual surfaces of the lower teeth
• The patient then brushes all the teeth in a systematic manner, starting in the same place and ending in the same place each time.
• Advice can then be given on the frequency of brushing – usually twice daily as a minimum, but some patients may continue with a high sugar diet and need to brush after each meal
• Full dietary advice should also be discussed and ideally adjusted where necessary
• Toothbrushes should be replaced once the bristles start to splay, as they will not remove plaque effectively when worn down

These days nicotine substitutes (like Nicorrete) are available in market which help to overcome the withdrawal symptoms and dependency, so you can use them judiciously as per dosage mentioned on the pack, but it's overuse is also as bad as your current habit.

How do you go about getting teeth whitening? What is teeth whitening? Who can perform teeth whitening? What happens during teeth whitening at the dentist? What about home kits and beauty salons for teeth whitening? What are the risks of home kits and salon teeth whitening? What questions should I ask the dentist before going ahead?

Teeth whitening or in technical terms bleaching is a dental procedure in which teeth are exposed to certain bleaching chemicals and then treated with high intensity light for those chemicals to work properly. Usually it takes 2-3 sittings to get desired results. But teeth can get stained again 6 months to 1 year after treatment. So to avoid that you should avoid pigmented food substances like tea, coffee, turmeric etc. So ask your dentist before procedure to match your current tooth shade on shade guide and then your desired shade and how many sittings you need for that shade. Kits for home use purpose take longer time and not as good as professional bleaching at a dental clinic.
