First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

Hi * stop running completely or decrease your training. *apply ice to reduce inflammation. *gently stretch your achilles and your calves. *consider cross-training for a while swim, run in the pool or ride a bike. *when you return to running, increase your mileage slowly, no more than 10 percent weekly. *make sure you wear the correct running shoes do reply for detailed treatment plan. I am 19 years old, suffering from low back pain. I used pain relief and ointment, but no improvement not getting proper sleep also please help me.

No use of applying oinments that is never going to solve your problem. As you are a younger boy start doing streching exercises for your back and also for abdomen then followed by strengthening exs of back then abs. But see to that initially do not strain your back by doing beyond your pain limit. Never go in for any bouncing streches, try to stay at one particular exs position for about 20 counts initially later you can increase it.

I have a problem in spinal cord mild stenosis in ll3 l4 and l4 l5 can it be rectified by key hole surgery what is meant by key hole surgery.

Not all cases of backache need surgery. Most of them can be managed with out surgery. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. SPRING BEDS, FOLDING BEDS OR THICK MATRESS ARE HARMFUL Use no pillow under the head. DO HOT FOMANTATION. Paracetamol 250mg OD & SOS x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab OD x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again.. Do not ignore .It could be beginning of a serious problem.

I am suffering from lower back pain L4 and L5 problem, since two years, is it possible to recover from this problem?

What is it exactly lumbar spondylitis/disc prolapse etc? And also whats your age.How did it start? Have you taken physiotherapy treatment for this? If its due to degenerative changes then you will have this problem but it can be kept under control by taking proper precautions and exercising regulary to strengthen your back muscles. After proper evaluation by the therapist exercises will be taught.

back and neck pain are common problems for adults .The best way to deal with back . neck and other joint or muscle problem is to prevent them from happening is of 70 % of back problems are caused by activities of daily living . These can often be avoided by paying attention to your posture . lifting heavy items properly . exercising regularly and strengthening your core and sleeping on your side or back . and on a good mattress

Dr. I use to put my wallet in my back pocket. At the time I f sleeping I feel pain travel through my leg muscles. Can you suggest any exercise or medicine.

Advice. Piriformis stretch lie on your back. Cross your left leg over your right so that your left ankle rests on your right knee. Use your hands to grab hold of your left knee and pull it gently toward the opposite shoulder. Hold for 15 to 30 seconds. Relax, and then repeat with the other leg. Repeat this cycle 2 to 4 times.

I am suffering from back pain. But when I go to jogging it remains least then I do usual working.

Hi, back pain is one of the most common reasons people go to the doctor or miss work. Causes of backache include: 1) muscle or ligament strain. Repeated heavy lifting or a sudden awkward movement may strain back muscles and spinal ligaments. 2) bulging or ruptured disks. Disks act as cushions between the bones (vertebrae) in your spine. The soft material inside a disk can bulge or rupture and press on a nerve. 3) arthritis. Osteoarthritis can affect the lower back. 4) skeletal irregularities. Back pain can occur if your spine curves abnormally. 5) osteoporosis. Preventive measures 1) maintain a healthy weight. 2) keep your sitting posture correct/straight. Do not slouch 3) avoid bending from back while lifting something from ground, instead bend at your knees. 4) hot fomentation to lower back or the painful part. 5) keep the coir side of your mattress up to give your back firm support and change the mattress if it is curved. 6) wear comfortable footwear with shock absorbing soles in shoes. In case above measures do not help, take rhus. Tox-30, 2 drops in 1 tsp water thrice a day for a week and revert back: now-a-days most backaches are due to vitamin d deficiency. Sit in sun and expose the long bones and back to sunrays. Also drink 2 glasses of milk daily.

My Wife 38 Year old suffering from astro arthritis and vain pen in downward from hip to toe. Please advice.

The first line of treatment of hip arthritis includes activity modification, anti-inflammatory medication, hip injections, and weight loss. Giving up activities that make the pain worse may make this condition bearable for some people. Anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen,naprosyn and the newer Cox-2 inhibitors help alleviate the inflammation that may be contributing to the pain. Furthermore, studies have shown that walking with a cane in your opposite hand significantly decreases the forces across the hip joint. Finally, weight loss helps decrease the force that goes across the hip joint.

I am 45 years old male since one year I am getting neck pain after sleeping of 4 to 6 hours (in between two shoulders)

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If you have localized neck pain with no other symptoms like radiating upper limb pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your neck while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of neck region and few blood tests for evaluation. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana – Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core Strengthening Exercises- Straight Leg Raised With Toes Turned Outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

If you are having knee problem, get yourself checked by an orthopedic, if its early arthritic changes seen in your knee joint, then don't go for treadmill running, firstly you can take physiotherapy for your knee joint, do exercises given by the therapist to strengthen knee muscles, and take necessary precautions for further damage, secondly start with your weight loss goal, do exercises like brisk walk on a smooth surface, yoga and a proper balanced diet to loose weight.
