Immediate attention to getting weight under control is very important or else it will become a viscious cycle like excees weight leading to increasing the dose of medication and increased dose leading to increased weight. I would suggest to start with a good diet control and brisk walk on a daily basis. If I could get and idea about the weight and height of the person the reply could be to the point.

The word depressed is a common everyday word. People might say" i'm depressed" when in fact they mean" i'm fed up because i've had a row, or failed an exam, or lost my job" etc. These ups and downs of life are common and normal. Most people recover quite quickly. With true depression, you have a low mood and other symptoms each day for at least two weeks The common symptoms are (few might be present in a person with depression) Feelings of sadness, tearfulness, emptiness or hopelessness Angry outbursts, irritability or frustration, even over small matters Loss of interest or pleasure in most or all normal activities, such as sex, hobbies or sports Sleep disturbances, including insomnia or sleeping too much Tiredness and lack of energy, so even small tasks take extra effort Changes in appetite — often reduced appetite and weight loss, but increased cravings for food and weight gain in some people Anxiety, agitation or restlessness Slowed thinking, speaking or body movements Feelings of worthlessness or guilt, fixating on past failures or blaming yourself for things that aren't your responsibility Trouble thinking, concentrating, making decisions and remembering things Frequent or recurrent thoughts of death, suicidal thoughts, suicide attempts or suicide Unexplained physical problems, such as back pain or headaches consult a psychiatrist and get evaluated, since you have suicidal thoughts it indicates severe depression.

Doctor give me Alprazolam. 0.25 for anxiety disorder. My question how much I take this medicine. Three time a day.

MD - Psychiatry

Doctor give me Alprazolam. 0.25 for anxiety disorder. My question how much I take this medicine. Three time a day.
Alprazolam is a good anxiolytic, but carries high dependence potential and serious cognitive and behavioral side effects when taken on a longer run. It is advised not take them more than 14 days. There are other medications e.g SSRI's which can be safely taken for longer duration in anxiety disorde. I am sure the doc who prescribed you this alone is not the apt specialist. Psychiatrist are the right people for you to consult for Anxiety disorder, consult one and get remedy. All the best.

Yes. Certainly those drugs will help to maintain your bpad under control. Your hair loss might be the side-effects of the drugs. In order to prevent major negative effects of the bpad, you have to bear with such minor side effects. It could also be a natural process of baldness.

Suicidal thoughts, plans and attempts are a symptom of a serious mental illness. The commonest being depression. In this illness there is a problem with the mood regulating area of the brain, that causes a person to feel constantly sad. Negative thoughts are a result of the low mood. Another reason could be a personality disorder. In this case your friend's mind may be using suicide as an option to cope with emotional stress. This becomes a long-term, repetitive, harmful and unhealthy pattern. In either case she should seek professional help. She must visit a psychiatrist. With medicines as well as counseling her mental balance will improve considerably. The goal of the therapy should be a productive and less stressful, if not normal, state of mind, at least most of the time.

I m a CA student nd most of the day is spent at desk work. How can I relieve myself from stress.
Hi there ~ the effects of stress tend to build up over time. Taking practical steps to maintain your health and outlook can reduce or prevent these effects. The following are some tips that may help you to cope with stress: seek help from a qualified mental health care provider if you are overwhelmed, feel you cannot cope, have suicidal thoughts, or are using drugs or alcohol to cope. Get proper health care for existing or new health problems. Stay in touch with people who can provide emotional and other support. Ask for help from friends, family, and community or religious organizations to reduce stress due to work burdens or family issues, such as caring for a loved one. Recognize signs of your body's response to stress, such as difficulty sleeping, increased alcohol and other substance use, being easily angered, feeling depressed, and having low energy. Set priorities-decide what must get done and what can wait, and learn to say no to new tasks if they are putting you into overload. Note what you have accomplished at the end of the day, not what you have been unable to do. Avoid dwelling on problems. If you can't do this on your own, seek help from a qualified mental health professional who can guide you. Exercise regularly-just 30 minutes per day of gentle walking can help boost mood and reduce stress. Schedule regular times for healthy and relaxing activities. Explore stress coping programs, which may incorporate meditation, yoga, tai chi, or other gentle exercises. Hope this helps.

Overweight problems are always related to high blood pressure and anxiety. Anxiety is one of the most distressing emotions because of the co related physiology is so severe - heart pounding, stomach churning, shaking, dizziness and variety of other symptoms give you further cause to worry. The physical symptoms of anxiety play a great part in this over estimation of threat perception, as they are seen themselves as significant indicators that something is seriously wrong. Participating in physical activity reduces these symptoms. Meditation and relaxation therapy are also useful. Mindfulness exercises help a lot in anxiety related issues.
