Who Should Eat A High Protein Diet?

Who Should Eat A High Protein Diet?

Protein is said to be a building block for the body. That being said, a high protein diet can either have some great results to show, or some terrible consequences. As long as a person is willing to learn more about it, only the former will appear!

When a person thinks of a diet which is high in protein, the automatic association is with the famed Atkins diet. This is a diet which is not only high in the amount of protein consumed but is low in the relative amount of carbohydrate.

Who is it For?

A high protein diet is a way to go, if a person is looking to build a little muscle and does not consume enough protein in his or her current or normal diet. However, studies have found that only professional endurance athletes showed any benefits from a hike in their consumption levels of protein and that too, they could have received these benefits by just eating more food. So, it is fair to say that the normal person is not likely to need more protein than what he or she already gets by the way of his or her run of the mill diet.

It can be bad too, in addition to this, if a person has an amount of protein which is beyond what is good for him or her according to the activity level, it can be quite bad. This is because a lot of the sources of protein which most people receive their protein from also happen to be quite high in terms of the saturated fat content, which can put the heart at a great amount of risk. Moreover, gout can also occur and it is something that is not curable, but can only be managed. A person who is considering the prospect of going on a high protein diet should take these possible side effects into due account prior to making his or her decision regarding the same.

Small is Big A, modest increase in the protein part of a person’s diet can be good and there are a variety of ways a person can go about this including by having some simple munch foods such as almonds. Things like these can serve well as snacks and can go a long way in preventing a person from bingeing on something less healthy just due to his or her being ravenously hungry. Another option is Greek yogurt, as is chia seeds, which can be added to almost anything!

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Hello lybrate-user, Hair and skin problem can be mainly due to poor diet, lack of exercise, genetics, bad lifestyle habits, stress etc. For your hair and skin care problems you can do the following: 1. Exercise daily 2. Wash your face at least 2-3 times in a day with a mild face-wash. Do not use soap 3. Hydrate yourself 4. Avoid oily and spicy food 5. Have more of citrus fruits for vitamin C 6. For hair problem, you can use herbal products that are free from side effects. Dr. Vaidya's hair care products are free from side effects and US FDA approved, they are meant for hair problems like hair fall, hair thinning, dandruff, dry and sensitive scalp 7. For acne problem, you can try Herbocharm face pack from Dr. Vaidya's as well Hope this helps!

Hello. White patches/ dots on your skin are a common type of depigmented skin lesion associated with an infection, allergy, or autoimmune disorder. One common cause of white spots, or hypopigmentation, is a fungal infection of the skin known as tinea versicolor (associated with other symptoms, such as itching or dryness on or around the white patches). This fungal infection is not contagious and can be treated easily with over-the-counter medications. The white spots and patches can also be because of deficiency of vitamin d (for which 15-20 minutes of exposure to early morning sunlight without sunscreen is needed, 3-4 times a week). Or else they could be idiopathic (i. E, without any cause). Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder which can be treated with homoeopathic medicines, but chances of relapses are also there. Please tell me other symptoms like about sensation on the area, since how long do you have this patch, any family history of white patch, etc. Meantime, you can start with homoeopathic medicines - cina 1m/ one dose daily at night and ars. Sulph. Flavum. 200/ twice daily for 20 days (it is safe). Apply a good brand's sunscreen with spf 40 on the skin (specially on the white patches/ spots) 20-30 minutes before going out under the sunscreen and reapply it after 3-4 hrs. Again.

I'm getting angered over a very small issues in my life. Nowadays I'm very obsessed with my career I'm trying my best to earn money and doing a lot of hard work but none I think stars are not in my favour every single day is becoming a challenge for me and I'm getting depressed. I'm trying a lot to go abroad but the process is getting delayed from the past 2 years. Because of this I'm getting extremely angry and my health is getting worse due to continuous anger. Nothing is working out for me, I'm a PhD graduate and I'm not at all satisfied with my career and earnings. My whole day starts and ends with a lot of tension. Is there any kind of past regression recovery therapy through which I'll be mentally stable.

MBBS MD
Psychiatrist, Chandigarh
Meditation and relaxation exercises can help in relieving stress. Many people may not realise how their negative thoughts of one particular area of life can spiral and keep feeding ones stress. The trick is to learn to keep a time for thinking about ones career eh 7-730 pm. Rest of the day, one can set aside time for 10 minutes meditation, 30 minutes brisk walking, spending time with family or friends and hobbies such as music. Remember just as in our diet we eat different foods to stay healthy, the mind also needs different activities. Focussing on one thing like career the entire day is maladaptive. So learn to keep a time to think about stressful areas, and keep your mind free the rest of the day to enjoy other activities.
