My dear friend, of course it is safe drug. You should continue. With this medicine you have to give some more medicine. Zinc 2.5 ml once a day. Some probiotics oral solutions 1/2 two times a day. If still problem persist. You have to visit Paediatrician. Hope it will help you. Feel free to contact me anytime.

Continue medicines for sometime but good hygine practices while feeding your child and keeping baby warm can prevent URTI in infants.

Once the temperature comes down they will eat. Try to control the fever with paracetamol, tepid sponging etc. Meantime keep trying feeds in the form of liquids and bland diet little by little.

Exclusive breast feeding babies may pass stool once in 3-4 days or 3-4 times a day both are normal. If you are giving formula then make sure your are giving right dilution. Crying may be due to hunger or discomfort like wet diaper, hence 1st check these things before going for medications.

10 Tips to Tackle Sibling Rivalry

10 Tips to Tackle Sibling Rivalry

While siblings are the force that breathes life into any family structure, it has also been seen as a challenge of sorts to manage siblings and bring out the best in each one of them. In any family unit, there are a number of entities who need to be nurtured in a certain way to ensure that their identities are not hampered by a "one size fits all" style of parenting. Every child is different and will need to be handled differently. Besides this, there are other related challenges that will contribute to the quality of the relationships between the siblings, as well as the rivalry that they may feel towards each other when it comes to attention, achievements and varied other factors.

Read on to know the ten tips to tackle sibling rivalry:

  1. Make Friends before Birth: encourage your first born to connect even before the birth of the new baby by including him or her in the changes you see and feel. Planning for the new baby with your first born will also help in such cases.
  2. Staying positive is a big factor that will help the children in feeling confident despite their different qualities and strengths.
  3. Comparison is a big no no. Stay away from these kind of comparisons so that the children do not feel like they have to fight with each other for your praise.
  4. Time Sharing: Ensure that you divide your time well and indulge each child in his or her area of interest so that they feel like you are always there for each of them.
  5. Harmonious Start to the day: this will ensure that the children have a special bond at the end of the day. Make sure that they help each other and divide chores accordingly. The older siblings should be given the care giving tasks while the younger ones should be taught to obey them and play along.
  6. Humour them: It is a known fact that humour is the best medicine that breaks even the most tension filled atmosphere.
  7. Family Meetings: Hold family meetings to discuss important things and even intense fights so that everyone's needs and issues are addressed.
  8. Empathy: Teaching your child to empathize with others will help him or her steer clear of needless rivalry at home too.
  9. Ignore the Small: Let them figure out the smaller fights, yet always be there to address the bigger issues so that they know you are there for them.
  10. Equal Treatment: Treating them equally does not mean doing the same thing for each of them. It means giving them equal time and attention with personalized treatment to suit varied temperaments. This will also give them a lot of individual confidence which eventually kills any feelings of rivalry.

Stop or decrease solid foods, particularly if baby is younger than 6 months. Most solids foods have fewer calories and nutrients than breastmilk, plus they tend to replace (rather than add to) the higher-calorie, more nutritious breastmilk. Sleep close to your baby (this increases prolactin and frequency of nursing). Learn baby massage — this has been proven to improve digestion and weight gain. Carry baby throughout the day in a baby carrier; get as much skin to skin contact as you can. Both of these things have been shown to improve weight gain. Nurse often – at least every 2 hours during the day and at least once at night. Frequent nursing increases baby’s milk intake. Make sure you’re allowing your baby to completely finish one side before you offer the other by waiting upon her cues that she is finished; i.e. Pulling off herself and looking satisfied, going to sleep, changing from an active suck/swallow to more of a pacifier suck, etc. Always OFFER the second side, but don’t worry if she doesn’t seem to need it. It’s much more important that she be allowed to completely finish one side than that she nurse both sides. By doing so she will be assured of reaching enough of the richer, more caloric hindmilk that helps her to go longer between feedings. Use breast massage and breast compression during breastfeeding. If you’re pumping, use hands on pumping techniques. Pump or hand express for a couple of minutes before nursing. This will remove some of the foremilk so that your baby receives more of the richer, higher calorie hindmilk. If supplements are medically indicated, breastmilk is preferred over formula as a supplement (exceptions to this are rare), and the average fat/calorie content of mom’s milk is higher than that of formula. Mom can pump for 5-10 minutes after nursing (don’t interrupt or shorten the nursing session to do this), and offer this higher-fat hindmilk to baby as needed. This is also an option for moms who normally offer expressed milk when they are separated from baby. Most often it's due to gas in the stomach. Avoid bottle feeding & do proper burping. Use colicaid drop s 8 drops 3 times daily.
