Rest. Ceasing activity for a few days allows injured tissue and even nerve roots to begin to heal, which in turn will help relieve lower back pain. However, more than a few days of rest can lead to a weakening of the muscles, and weak muscles have to struggle to adequately support the spine. Patients who do not regularly exercise to build strength and flexibility are more likely to experience recurrent or prolonged lower back pain. Heat and Ice Packs. Heat and/or cold therapy helps relieve most types of low back pain by reducing inflammation. Often patients use ice, but some prefer heat. Both may be used alternately. Also take Mag phos 12 x - twice daily. Also do a x-ray/MRI of the affected area so as to conclude the reason for back pain.

Requires detailed examination and investigation. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, inform

Dear lybrate-user, gentle massage over the affected part with lukewarm herbal pain relieving oil for 20 minutes followed by hot fomentation. It will relax the muscles and the veins of your affected part improving the blood supply to the organ and giving strength to it. Please avoid over-use of the part affected i. E. Lifting weight - pushing or pulling heavy objects. Give proper rest to the part - let it heal with the time. This will greatly help. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking.

I was diagnised cervical spondilitis and I was under psysiotherapists for 2 weeks. I used to do regular excercises as per the guidance given by the pysio. Everything was okay and now I find that one fine after 6 months of the above problem when I start walking normally walk for some time and I can balance my body while walking. Kindly advice what to do?

Hi there are many causes of balance problems, such as medications, ear infections, a head injury, or anything else that affects the inner ear or brain. Low blood pressure can lead to dizziness when you stand up too quickly. Kindly visit doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

Take hot and cold fermentation 1 min each, for 5 reps. Do atleast twice in a day for 1 week. If pain improves fine, otherwise take physiotherapy sessions. Thank you.

Hi, There is no mention of the nature or cause of your pain. As it is just 2-3 days old, I assume it may be because of any small injury. Maybe because you hold your baby for a long time. The first step in treatment for any injury is to give rest. You can give support to the joint by a bandage. Pain oils like Murivenna or Karpuradi thaila can be used for applying over the wrist. Mix camphor in hot cocunut oil, apply the warm oil on wrist twice a day. It would give relief to your pain. Do consult a doctor if the pain persists. Take care, be happy.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young and have pain at multiple joints. I need to understand whether you have any other symptoms like morning stiffness etc? also have you got any investigations done for you like blood tests or any radiological investigations? if you can get cbc, esr, crp and serum vitamin d tests ( all tests to be done empty stomach) and send all reports across to me, then I can see and advise you accordingly. Till that time: - maintain proper posture at home and at workplace - do intensive physical therapy, you can start initially under supervision of a physical therapist - take a short course of any anti-inflammatory medication which suits you. I HAVE DEVELOPED SEVERE PAIN IN MY BOTH KNEES,from last Oct 2014 onwards,In touch with HOD of St Stephan hospital Delhi -110006 & HOD of Indian spinal Injury hospitals Vasant Vihar New Delhi , as I got operated by both Drs. for Spinal problem at L4- L5 , for Nerve Decompression on 3rd Jan 2013 & 26th Aug 2013 again at ISI .Had enough medicines prescribed by Drs.Was undergoing already Physio Threrepy by qulalified Dr regaularly thrice a week since June 2014, Adv. Nephrosyn 500 mg twice daily ,without any releif.Dr says Inflamtion of Left Knee, however practically left crippled now - cannot stand for 3-5 minutes, even difficulty in lying on bed , evn slightest movement / change in posture while sitting or lying on bed results into crying as pain becomes unbearable . Even last evening Dr asked to take additionally ULTRACET ,tab twice,till physically examination on Wednesday Now , over & above ths Knee pain , it also severly results in pain in LHS leg ,lower half- below & above knee, near ankle areas, upper back of thigh ,the thin line of thigh adj leg, also pains .Local application of pain killers like Volini ointment / spray - even patches with Hifenec - medicine , gave no relief. I suspect this pain , other then knees to be outcome of Decompression of nerve / side effect / damage ,that took place to me in Sep/ Oct 2012 & was operated in Jan & Aug 2013 . This Pain also appears to be resulting into / causing NUMBNESS , in these areas , Latest Knee X-ray says Normal wear & tear apperanig / taking place. No Panic button pressed by Drs after seeing X-ray s/ clinically - both ways Kindly suggest , some medicine / Exercise / procedure , for relief , if possible pl

.Avoid bending in front. Postural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily – Lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Your father may be having osteoarthritis left knee. Kindly mention his height and weight. Osteoarthritis, or degenerative joint disease, is one of the oldest and most common types of arthritis. It is characterized by a breakdown of the joint's cartilage. Cartilage is the part of the joint that cushions the ends of bones. Cartilage breakdown causes bones to rub against each other, causing pain and loss of movement. Osteoarthritis can range from very mild to very severe, and most commonly affects middle-aged and older people. It affects hands and weight-bearing joints such as knees, hips, feet and the back. Ayurvedic treatment of Osteoarthritis not only prevents further deterioration in the joints but also rejuvenates damaged cartilages. Vata-alleviating treatments through specific herbs are also suggested for lubrication and strengthening of joints. Lifestyle changes- Avoid carbonated drinks, preserved and packaged foods, and dry or cold food items. Choose foods that are easy to digest and warming. Excessive use of joints and underuse are both problematic, so get some exercise each day, but do not overdo it. Try exercises that are easy on the joints such as walking, swimming and yoga. Keep your weight at an optimum level, neither too overweight nor too underweight. Do not withhold natural urges (such as burping, urinating, releasing gas, etc.) Home Remedies Use warm sesame oil to massage stiff and painful joints in the morning. Did you have any injury? What kind of work do you do. There are many queries which need to be answered before telling a treatment. I would suggest you to visit some specialist and get thorough examination done. Then it would be easier to treat you. Neck sound is because of osteophytes most probably. Might not need any treatment if there is no pain or weakness of upper limbs. Regarding Osteoarthritis of knees, treatment depends upon clinical examination. It varies from different exercises, some medicines, or injections in knee to may be Partial joint replacement or Total knee replacement. Joint saving surgery to joint replacement surgery. Advice. Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Sports taping- stretch the tape from both ends and apply on the affected area contrast fomentation (hot and cold).

I am a diabetes patient and my sugar level is 140 before meal and 170 after meal and I also have high knee pain since 10 years. I have consulted a doctor about this along with diabetes. I don't know about Algina but the others are for your Diabetes & calcium & Vitamin D. You can take extra care in your diet to control your blood sugar. You can try taking 1 tsp. Castor oil at bedtime with a glass of water. It can help you for your knee pain.

Kindly show me x rays of your shoulder. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Do hot fomentation any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do neck & shoulder exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.
