Are there any long-term effects associated with taking ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) medications? If so, what are they and what medications are implicated?

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Use of stimulant decreases the symptoms to a much good effect and if we don't give stimulant medication There will be more of conduct disorder and progress in disease and for side effects we have to monitor the person and advice them accordingly

My son is 12 years old and he still has the habit of bed-wetting, what could be the reasons, and how can I help him get rid of this problem.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
During childhood, some kids don't produce enough anti-diuretic hormone (ADH) to slow nighttime urine production. Stress. Stressful events — such as becoming a big brother or sister, starting a new school, or sleeping away from home — may trigger bed-wetting. Urinary tract infection.o combat bedwetting, doctors suggest: Shift times for drinking. ... Schedule bathroom breaks. ... Be encouraging. ... Eliminate bladder irritants. ... Avoid thirst overload. ... Consider if constipation is a factor. ... Don't wake children up to urinate. ... Don't resort to punishment.

My son is only one months he always cry and search for milk either his stomach is full and when it get out start to cry please help me

M.D.( Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician,
Crying child needs support. He may not be hungry as no mother usually wait to feed till child becomes hungry. So even if child is not hungry he will cry for any discomfort he experiences. It is usually for want of love and affection, fear out of lonely feeling or any other physical discomfort. It is the only way by which he will express his feelings. There is no fault on mother's/parents part. Parents need to support him emotionally, rather than becoming panic. That will develop trust and bonding. It must be looked up on as an opportunity to make him feel secure and building bond there by. Hope this helps. All babies cry whatever you do.

4 months old baby some are colicky babies. You need to burp her properly after every feed. If she is on any bottle feeds pls stop because that may be the reason for extra gas accumulation in tummy. Do not give so many medicines. Just give her mild carminatives.

Hello, your baby is too young to give more medicines but you can give him Homoeopathic medicines as these are safe and work without side effects. Give him Kindigest (Schwabe), 4 pills thrice daily, this will improve his digestion.Revert after 7 days. For the wired sound you are talking , needs to examine physically, so consult a good paediatrician in chennai.

Myth- Infant formula is basically the same as breast milk

MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, MBBS

Myth- Infant formula is basically the same as breast milk
Fact-infant formula isn't the same as breast milk. It' s not a living product, so it doesn't have the antibodies, living cells, enzymes or hormones that protect your baby from infections & diseases in childhood & also later in life.

My son is having sweet allergy where has if he had any sweets, chocolates, or biscuits in 12hrs. he will get much cough. Thats why we are not giving any food that couse to cough. please tell me any suggestion to not coming of cough

MBBS
Pediatrician, Ernakulam
He is unlikely to have sweet alllergy, however too much of sweets, biscuits is not a great idea. Excess of junk would reduce appetite and results in poor uptake of home foods. Please concentrate on fruits and vegetables. To avoid cough, remove him from dusty environment,no exposure to smoke, paint, polluted areas. Please note that children who attend day care centres have a increased tendency to coughs and colds

Breast feeding mother's diet should not cause any ill effects on the baby. If your baby's overall growth and weight gain is fine, then this vomiting is actually posseting. All babies regurgitate a small amount of milk. Try burping the baby after feeding.
