There are varied reasons for sensitivity. One of the common causes for sensitivity is wearing off of the ename that is the hardest layer of the tooth, for this the treatment depends on the tooth structure loss and which part of the tooth structure is lost. Second most is recession of gums causing exposure of the root surface of tooth can also cause sensitivity. Another thing causing sensitivity is sinus problems. Depending on the cause treatment can be planned. Hence check with the doctor, cause delay in any one of this can cause you trouble.

Regular Dental Follow Up Never Ignore

Regular Dental Follow Up Never Ignore

We often opt for dental treatments when it hurts you somewhere. We do the treatment, pain subsides and we forget to visit again. This is a common practice where we aim to treat the pain but not the root cause.

It is very much possible to prevent 80 to 90% of dental problems to progress to advanced stage by just doing Regular Follow ups with your dentist.

Today we will discuss the importance why you should visit your dentist as advised by him/her.

1) Pre-treatment/ Preventive Dental Follow ups:

This is regular check up of your overall dental health/condition of the gums and your oral hygiene status.

This checkup should ideally be done twice a a year or at-least once a year for every individual including kids. These follow-ups will detect the progression of any cavities/gum problems in early stage. The treatment in early stages are less complex, less expensive and less time consuming.

So it saves your level of discomfort, money and time.

On a contrary without followups your cavities, gum problems and other serious oral problems grows silently and when they reach to advanced levels. They start showing the symptoms.

Majority of the oral cancers are well known for their silent killing nature. It is difficult to check your own mouth for early sings for cancers.

2) After treatment / Post Treatment Dental Followups:

Every individual have a different response to the same treatment. It is utmost important to check responses in many cases depending on the nature of the treatment. Some treatments needs followup on next day..some needs in  3 days some in weeks and so on…These followup helps the doctor to see the outcome of the treatment and it becomes easier to find out if any modifications or corrections are required or not.

Some treatments like root canal treatment and implants require follwups for several years to keep watch on the outcome of the treatments. Your dentist will best advice the time duration and frequency of the followups. Never ignore them.

We at “Dhapekars Dental Care ” maintain the follow up records and watch closely the progress of the treatment given. It helps us to give our patients the best possible treatment options and take corrective measures before its too late.

Hello sir, my teeth became yellowish. I brush twice a day still no change. As I remember from my childhood it's like that only. How can I make it white. And my teeth are not in an order ( line). Thank you.

To whiten your teeth you can go in for bleaching which will be temporary whiteness for few months. For permanent whiteness you can go for veneers which will cost you more than bleaching. If your teeth are yellow from birth it might be birth defect also. In that case bleaching may not help. You need to confirm if it's birth defect or just stains. A good experienced dentist will help you with that. It will be better if you get your teeth in line first & then go for whitening.

You have gum disease known as gingivitis with plaque deposition. Scaling will help you in this regard. Brush regularly. Use crest toothpaste for plaque. Rinse your mouth with chlorhexidine mouthwash.
