Hi I am having severe cough (dry cough) with slight throat pain from 1 month. It will be continued for 3 to 5 mins once cough starts. I am using Grillntus as a cough syrup and gargling is done everyday thrice. But still having cough. I didn't see any improvement on this. Please give me a suggestion this.

MS - ENT
ENT Specialist, Rajkot
I think you must have either throat infection or allergic laryngitis. Better to consult any ENT Specialist so he can see your throat and with the help of Laryngoscope he will be able to see larynx and he can find out the cause of your cough. Then he can treat it. Have a speedy recovery.

I do smoke lot doctor can you please suggest me how to stop smoking. I tried a lots of time. When I stop smoking coughing started continuously. Please suggest.

DAA, DNB
Pulmonologist, Bangalore
Hi. I understand your concerns. Stop smoking before it causes you any more harm. It should be done best with will power. Or consult a pulmonologist for the same. You might be having bronchitis due to smoking injury that is the reason for your cough. You will need to undergo pulmonary function test which is needed for diagnosis and also to assess severity of bronchitis based on which treatemnt can be started. Hope your questions were answered. Thanks.

Sir. I am a patient of sinusitis and asthmatic bronchitis and I take montair lc tablet from previous 2 years and I also take treatment of homeopathic and ayurvedic medicine but it does not get any relief from disease so. Sir, what I have to do for my treatment.

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
You are making a mistake by taking three different forms of medicine. Stick to any one either allopathic, ayrvedic or homeopathic. Allergy seems to be the culprit. Living in delhi with a highly polluted air cover one will land up with an asthmatic bronchitis. Wear a mask as far as possible when you go outdoors. Sinusitis could be because of a deviated nasal septum / enlarged inferior turbinates for which an ent check up is needed.

I have been using Budecort and Asthalin Inhalers for more than 20 years for My Asthma, Now the Doctor has stopped these and prescribed Montelukast Sodium Tablets, I have Dry skin in my face and swelling of lips after I take Montelukast, Is it Ok or should I revert back to Inhalers

MRCP (UK), DNB, MD
Pulmonologist, Mumbai
Dear World over the treatment for asthma is inhalers. Also if. Your asthma has been controlled well for 20 yrs with stable lung function, you must continue inhalers. However it is advisable to seek a chest physician opinion with latest spirometry. You can contact me in private clinic. Regards

It can be due to lungs or due to heart or due to general weakness. Get checked for cbc, thyroid profile and blood for sugar and x ray chest. You will know the basics like hb and infection anywhere in the body. Stay away from smoke and pollution. Breathe in more oxygen through fresh plants with clean leaves. Get back here with reports.
