Lumbar brace support is not recommended for you. Stop immediately to used it otherwise it will weaken your back muscles. And consult with spine surgeon.

My mother having varicose vain in leg she having lot of pain in leg. Pls suggest best treatment.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Sclerosing injection will cure varicose veins. Varicose veins are generally benign. The cause of this condition is not known. For many people, there are no symptoms and varicose veins are simply a cosmetic concern. In some cases, they cause aching pain and discomfort or signal an underlying circulatory problem. Treatment involves compression stockings, exercise or procedures to close or remove the veins.

I am 26 old man I am suffering from varicose veins ulcer last 5 year old send better tablet cream names pls.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Earlier stages of varicose veins are treated by wearing stockings, sleeping with legs elevated and sclerotherapy (injection of sclerosing agents in the veins ). Advanced stages are treated by destruction of defective valves in the veins or surgical removal of veins. In cases where there are no symptoms except bad cosmetic experience, no treatment is offered. You must get yourself evaluated by getting a Doppler ultrasound of veins done which would reveal the exact status of your veins.

Hello Doctor, I am a 30 year old female. I was diagnosed with mild varicose veins two years ago. The doctor suggested that mild exercise and compression stockings would make them go away. The veins have now started to appear more prominent behind my legs and have become painful especially towards the end of the day and on days when I do not exercise. Kindly tell me a good treatment for this.

hello. it is typical of venous pain and symptom of varicose veins as you mentioned. continue using graded compression stockings. avoid prolonged standing or sitting. take breaks in between ans try to keep your limb elevated. repeat a colour Doppler of veins if done 2 yrs back. It may require surgery if pain not getting relieved.

My feet, especially ankles feel heavy and hurt. There are several red tiny lines all over my feet. I also have varicose veins since several years. What can be done?

MBBS, MS - General Surgery
Vascular Surgeon, Bhavnagar
As you said you have varicose vein since many years then you must be knowing the courseof disease too. The tiny lines are due to varicosities only. You should do all preventive measures like limb elevation, stockings, prevent long standing posture, calf exercises etc.

Homeopathic Treatment for Varicose Veins

Homeopathic Treatment for Varicose Veins

Varicose veins are enlarged twisted veins, can be present anywhere but are more common in legs, generally veins in the legs consist of leaflets, which prevent the back flow of the blood, leg muscles help to pump the blood back to the heart against the effect of gravity, varicosity results when leaflets of the valves become loose or incompetent due to which when there is back flow of blood it ultimately results in varicosity in legs.

Causes of varicose veins and how homeopathic medicine will help-

  • As seen varicose veins are more common in women as compared to men, there are some factors such as heredity, pregnancy, obesity, menopause, abdominal straining, leg injury, prolonged standing as in bus conductors, traffic police workers.
  • In homeopathy there are more then 100 medicines for varicose veins selection is based on complete case taking procedure and totality of the case.
  • Homeopathy is a natural and holistic approach in curing a particular disease condition rather than simply eliminating the symptom. In homeopathy minute doses help to cure a person as a whole without any side effect.
  • Generally arteries carry blood from heart to rest of the tissue, veins return blood to heart they work against gravity, muscles contractions in our legs acts like a pump and elastic vein valves help blood return to heart, tiny valves in veins open as the blood flows toward your heart then close to stop blood from flowing backward but in case of varicosity of veins these valves become incompetent and loses its elasticity which ultimately results in various symptoms. Homeopathic medicines will help to regain elasticity in the valves which results in proper blood flow.
  • The main principle of homeopathy is 'like cures like' selection is based on the symptoms and individualization of the case as every individual is different and exhibits different symptoms, have different mentality and physical generals all above helps us to achieve our goal of permanent cure.

Sir my sister aged 32 years is going under total hip replacement. I much confused about prosthetic which one to go for Ceramic with poly or Ceramic on Ceramic Please advice which one is better.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MRCS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Visakhapatnam
Hi Lots of studies are there. As per my experience in UK 12 yrs, ceramic on ceramic is good in long term. But risk of fracture is there always when ever patient jumps. Ceramic on poly is more safe and it's better combination too. I preserve ceramic on ceramic. Hope it solves you r question.

How does neuclus pulposus take to decay when it comes out of annulus fibrosus and extruded to nerve root as for example in L5-S1? Does it decay over the time or it never?

MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy, Diploma in Diet and Nutrition

disc herniation develops with time if you are having constant pain and swelling. good circulation is required for healing. if you are having constant pain that disc will degenerate. take physiotherapy and back extensor exercises n apply hot pack or ice pack whatever gives u better result.

Firstly you need to get done venous colour Doppler. Then if the stockings are not effective and varicose veins are causing problems in day to day activities then several surgeries can be offered according to present condition.

Yes you can safely takes all these with pradaxa an homochek some information for pradaxa ( dabigatran ) which is your main medication. Why is this medication prescribed? Dabigatran is used to treat deep vein thrombosis (DVT; a blood clot, usually in the leg) and pulmonary embolism (PE; a blood clot in the lung) in patients who have been treated with an injectable anticoagulant (''blood thinner''). It is also used to reduce the risk of a DVT and PE from happening again after initial treatment is completed. Dabigatran is used to help prevent DVT and PE in people who have had hip replacement surgery. Dabigatran is also used to help prevent strokes or serious blood clots in people who have atrial fibrillation (a condition in which the heart beats irregularly, increasing the chance of clots forming in the body, and possibly causing strokes) without heart valve disease. Dabigatran is in a class of anticoagulant medications called direct thrombin inhibitors. It works by preventing blood clots from forming in the body. How should this medicine be used? Dabigatran comes as a capsule to take by mouth. When dabigatran is used to treat or prevent DVT or PE or to prevent strokes or serious blood clots in people who have atrial fibrillation, it is usually taken twice a day. When dabigatran is used to prevent a DVT or PE after hip replacement surgery it is usually taken 1 to 4 hours after surgery, and then once a day for another 28 to 35 days. Dabigatran may be taken with or without food. Take dabigatran at around the same times every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take dabigatran exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the capsules whole with a whole glass of water; do not split, chew, or crush them. Do not open the capsules and sprinkle the contents on food or into drinks. Dabigatran will help prevent strokes and blood clots only as long as you continue to take it. Continue to take dabigatran even if you feel well. Make sure to refill your prescription before you run out of medication so that you will not miss doses of dabigatran. Do not stop taking dabigatran without talking to your doctor. If you suddenly stop taking dabigatran, the risk that you will have clot or a stroke may increase.

My MRI INDICATE 1. Lumbosacral transitional Vertebra with complete socialization of L5 2. Disc desiccation with diffuse disc bulge and broad based posterior central disc protrusion at L4-L5 level causing ventral thecal sac indentation and significant compromise of bilateral neural forminal (right>left). Mild ligamentum flavum thickening is also seen at this level with maintained spinal canal dimensions. 3. Cervical spondylitis changes with disc osteophyte complexes at C4-C5 and C5-C6 levels. Broad based left paracentral disc protrusion at C4-C5 level causing ventral thecal sac indentation and moderate compromise of left sided neural forminal. 4. Mild disc bulge at d5-d6 (screening of rest of spine revealed) I am confused. Dr. Said physio will fix it. I read too many damages. Please guide and suggest sustainable solutions. I am willing to take prolonged treatment. What does this report mean?

Radiologist, Delhi
Hello Mr. lybrate-user. The report says that there is significant compression of nerves at L4-5, C4-5 and C5-6 vertebral levels. You need to wear lumbar hot belt on regular basis, have to take medicines, you have to undergo physiotherapy and take precautions like no forward bending, no lifting weight, using ortho matress to keep spine straight. I would advise you to meet an orthopedician and discuss your symptoms in detail. Clinical examination and some further tests are required before prescribing medicines.

MPT - Orthopedic Physiotherapy, Diploma in Diet and Nutrition

May be because of Varicose Veins he is having severe pain in legs, because of reduced blood supple. Just check whether he is also having osteoarthritis of knees. Make him wear stocking to improve circulation. Get colour doppler test both arterial n venal for both lower limbs.
