It is always better to eat fruits in the morning their effect in the night will not be that beneficial and yes banana addison the wright.

Dear Doc, I am 21 years old engineering student. I always feel tired and want to delay all the work. Even if I have taken a healthy diet, I am not full of energy. Morning empty stomach after drinking some water and getting freshed after 30 minute I take 8 almond ,8 cashew and som pistach and a medium apple. Then after taking breakfast after 20 minute I feel very urge to poop. And that is very loose and green black a little greasy to but only once. Whenever I didn't eat anything except breakfast than its ok. Is this because of dry fruit or apple combination. please suggest doctor.

Food thats eaten, takes 35 to 55 hours to get processed and then it exits after that. That means from 1.5 days to 2 days. Nothing happens instantly. There is nothing wrong with your diet. The urge to go for stools is mainly due to habits formed over a period of time. As for the green black colour. It seems abnormal. Better to visit a physician who should be able to help you with necessary testst etc.

Hi lybrate-user to gain weight you need to combine a balanced eating pattern with regular physical activity. You should be eating at least 6 small meals a day, rather than sticking to 3 square meals. You could divide it as 3 main meals and 3 snacks. You need to be eating every 2-3 hours. Space out snacks during the day so you don't spoil your appetite. Bread, cereal, rice, whole wheat, dalia and pasta: biscuits, and corn-bread are good sources of carbohydrates. Fruits: dried fruits, fruit nectars, and large quantities of fresh fruits vegetables: include, potatoes, peas, corn in your diet. Meat, poultry, fish, dry beans, eggs, and nuts: beef, pork, lamb, poultry, salmon, omelets, nuts, peanut butter, kidney beans, chickpeas will help you gain weight. Include dairy products like milk, yogurt, and cheese: milk, fruited yogurts, hard cheeses, ice cream, puddings, custards, milkshakes. -nuts and seeds make a healthy option for snacks. -roasted channas and peanuts are good -peanut butter on the sandwiches are a great mid-meal choice. -you must know that cereals actually contain some healthy calories. Stay hydrated: drinking plenty of water and other fluids like juices, milk, soups etc, will work in your favour. Do not drink water before a meal and in between the meal as it may make you lose your appetite, thus calorie intake suffers. Sleep: at least 8 hours of sound sleep is a must. Since your body is actually building up muscles, while you rest. Weight gainers have long term side effects.

Whosoever want to gain weight must eat a banana daily in the morning with a glass of warm milk. Add a teaspoon of sugar in it. Moreover, you can also have it after your meals. Note – Don’t eat bananas when you are down with common cold. 2. Peanut Butter -- Peanut butter is a yummy spread for toast and bread. If you’re trying to gain weight, feel free to go for this high-calorie and nutritious food. Apply it on your whole wheat bread for breakfast and see how your weight increases within a short period of time. •Besides, you can spread a spoonful of peanut butter on fruits or vegetables like banana, apple slices, fresh berries, wheat germ or applesauce. •Alternatively, a peanut butter sandwich is also a good choice. I don't seem to gain weight. I've tried mostly everything from balanced high carb and fat diet to taking weight gainers. Nothing works for me. I'm 5 feet 8" and weigh a mere 48.5 kilograms (with clothes). Kindly suggest me some plans or medicines that can help me with this. Also, although I drink a lot of water, probably 6-7 liters everyday, but I never feel thirsty. Sometimes I could go on for days with maybe just a glass or two in a day. Is that bad! Thanks in advance.

Hi lybrate-user, glad that you asked this question. Some times the metabolism in the system is very fast. So you don't gain weight easily. Eat frequently. Also take up weight training to build on your muscles. Include a lot of protein rich foods in your diet like fish, grilled chicken, eggs, sprouts, nuts and oilseeds, paneer post the workout. You are still 22 years, in a year or two with hormonal changes things should fall in place. All the bes.

Hye, thanks for the query. The moment you think of weight gain or just because you join the gym, whatever is your workout or diet intake, does not justify taking a supplement. You cannot gain weight by just adding a supplement to your diet. You have to create a demand and then fulfil it. You will only harm your body if you try to give it something that it does not really need. Weight gain needs additional calories through a balance of carbohydrates, proteins, healthy fats and exercise. Supplementation totally depends on your present food intake & activity levels. So, for weight gain you need a balanced, calorie dense diet and a good exercise routine. Even if you do gain weight, it will be just fat, it will reduce once you discontinue the supplement. So, before you decide to start the supplement first work on a healthy diet and exercise routine.

When you are trying to gain weight, you should eat food the rich in vitamins and minerals. 1. Healthy food includes meat, egg, milk, fruit vegetables, fruits, and nuts. Cashews, almonds, dates, walnuts, dry grapes, apricots, peaches are some of the dried fruits and nuts that can be added to breakfast, salads, cereal and desserts. For weight gain proper nutrition is a must. 1) you can start including more milk, cow ghee, fruits & vegetables in your diet. 2) stop eating junk & processed food. 3) make a habit of consuming one well ripen banana with a cup of warm milk with a tsp of ghee. 4) eat soaked dry grapes or dates soaked in warm milk over night. 5) boost up your apettite by working out daily for atleast 30 mins.

Hello, Take small quantity of food/ food items either you are hungry or not. If you are unable to take solid foods try to start with liquid food like juice, soup, butter milk/ chhachh, soy milk, flavoured milk etc. It will increase your appetite slowly. Include variety of foods in your routine diet. Consuming lot of calories doesn’t mean that you have to over eat or over stuff yourself. You must always choose healthy sources of calorie dense foods. Eat foods with high amount of calories than your required metabolism. Never skip your meals and make sure you are including all varieties of foods like fruits, vegetables, cereals and foods with high protein in your diet. Dairy products like milk, yoghurt and cheese are rich in protein and calcium. If you are non-vegetarian then include Egg & meat Egg is a protein rich food with high amount of calories. Nuts are the most nutritious and protein rich food. Fruits are the best sources of carbohydrates, healthy sugars, vitamins and minerals.
