Dear lybrate-user, before meeting a toxicologist, please consult a psychiatrist. Sometimes people develop a delusion of poisoning when they are severely depressed. You have other symptoms of depression, anxiety, dizziness, fear, confusion, dry mouth, nausea, shivering, weight loss, etc. You are neurologically ok, it looks from investigations. Please let me know what medicine, in what dose, for how long. He/she prescribed and for how long you have taken them. Please remember that antidepressants act only at a particular dose and it takes 2-3 weeks to act.

Hello, Because of death events taking place in world. I have started thinking that what's the use of life one day we ...
Hello Lybrate user, lybrate-user "Life"& "Death" both exist because of each other. One does not exist without the other. Because it is the universal truth. But yes, you might have seen death more than life yet that does in no way conclude that you lose faith in nature. And death is just physcial. The spirit (soul) stays. There is a reason behind everything that happens around us. At that moment we might get shocked, so we are unable to get the reason. Of everything else, nature has the most logic to everything that happens within. So if you live, it's for a reason, live to find that and you must respect that reason. And just as there is a reasonbehind death too. You might not understand that now, but if you keep living you will eventually find the answer. Life is very precious and we have some very special job roll for every individuals. Try to find out what is your responsibility towards your life and you will definitely find it. But it will not do any good if you choose to go against the reason of your existence. And it is good to go through such phases in life, because basically you are an emotional person, so life is making you stronger. Try and start meditation. Meditation means to understand about yourself with some positive thoughts. It may not be an instant formula that fixes things but it will work. Have a good life ahead. All my good wishes are with you.

He was a normal guy. But when he met a girl whom he loved she left him for no reason and now he is in a deadly depression. How can I help him?

He was a normal guy. But when he met a girl whom he loved she left him for no reason and now he is in a deadly depres...
Love relationships that break up do this to people. He will get over it soon enough if you keep him occupied and if you let him talk about his feelings. It not likely that that girl left him for no reason. It may appear so or he may say so but every action has a reaction and vice-versa. Even if he wants to talk ill of her but to you only, let him do so. That will help him give vent to his emotions and make him feel better. If the break up is final, then he must dispose of all reminders of her and avoid the people, places, situations and occasions to get her out of his system. This is a gradual process but if you are there by his side he can do it faster and better. Do not let him talk badly about her to the public and you can ensure that he only expresses his feelings in private and moves on in life. Help him to socialize, attend functions and programs that will be a good distraction for him. If he finds it too difficult then let him meet with a counselor and deal with the pain. Eventually, he needs to have learned a lesson so that he does not repeat the same in his next relationship, which is something he should not get into in a hurry. You can use some guidelines from this information to help out of his depression: In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

How I can improve my brain memory because it is very poor. I forget many thing during examination which is prepared by me.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Strategies for Remembering 1.Become interested in what you're learning. We're all better remembering what interests us. Few people, for example, have a difficult time remembering the names of people they find attractive. If you're not intrinsically interested in what you're learning or trying to remember, you must find a way to become so. 2.Find a way to leverage your visual memory. You'll be surprised by how much more this will enable you to remember. For example, imagine you're at a party and are introduced to five people in quick succession. How can you quickly memorize their names? Pick out a single defining visual characteristic of each person and connect it to a visual representation of their name, preferably through an action of some kind. Remember: Memory is predominantly visual. 3.Create a mental memory tree. If you're trying to memorize a large number of facts, find a way to relate them in your mind visually with a memory tree. Construct big branches first, then leaves. Branches and leaves should carry labels that are personally meaningful to you in some way, and the organization of the facts (" leaves") should be logical. 4.Associate what you're trying to learn with what you already know. It seems the more mental connections we have to a piece of information, the more successful we'll be in remembering it. This is why using mnemonics. Write out the items to be memorized over and over and over. 5.When reading for retention, summarize each paragraph in the margin. This requires you to think about what you're reading, recycle it, and teach it to yourself again. Even take the concepts you're learning and reason forward with them; apply them to imagined novel situations, which creates more neural connections to reinforce the memory. 6.Do most of your studying in the afternoon. Though you may identify yourself as a" morning person" or" evening person" at least one Study. Suggests your ability to memorize isn't influenced as much by what time of day you perceive yourself to be most alert but by the time of day you actually study—afternoon appearing to be the best. 7.Get adequate sleep to consolidate and retain memories. Not just at night after you've studied but the day, you study as well. Far better to do this than to stay up cramming all night for an exam.

I get depressed for every situation. I loose confidence for any kind of situation.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
I get depressed for every situation. I loose confidence for any kind of situation.
1. Perform diaphragmatic or deep breathing exercises. 2. Lie face down on the floor and begin breathing deeply and slowly, with your hands resting under your face. Do this for five minutes. 3. Sit in a reclining chair. Put a hand on your abdomen and a hand on your chest. As you breathe, make sure the hand on your abdomen is moving up and down rather than one on your chest. If the hand on your abdomen is moving you are breathing deeply and slowly. 4. Try progressive muscle relaxation or “deep muscle” relaxation. Progressively tense and relax each muscle group in your body. Learn the difference between muscle tension and relaxation. 5. Meditate. Use visualization or imagery to help you learn to be one with your thoughts. Sit quietly with your eyes closed, imagining the sights, sounds and smells of your favorite place, such as a beach or mountain retreat. 6. Exercise regularly or take up yoga. 7. Consult a psychologist about the use of biofeedback 8. Make time for music, art or other hobbies that help relax and distract you. 9. Learn to identify and monitor stressors. Come up with an organized plan for handling stressful situations. Be careful not to overgeneralize negative reactions to things. 10. Make a list of the important things you need to handle each day. Try to follow the list so you feel organized and on top of things. Put together a coping plan step by step so you have a sense of mastery. 11. Keep an eye on things that might suggest you’re not coping well. For example, are you smoking or drinking more, or sleeping less?

First of all, get your eye sight checked. If that is okay, then see if you are anxious or nervous about something. Indulge in some physical exercise, so that your body gets enough oxygen and drink lots of water - dehydration may also cause constriction of nerves and blood vessels thereby causing the headache. Get adequate sleep. If still there is no relief consult a physician

Diabetes, BP, smoking and drinking is all a deadly concoction for bad health. Your erectile dysfunction is most certainly related to these problems. You must discuss the ED with your diabetologist and s/he will recommend some measures if it is not too late. You are overweight too and that can be a contributor as well. There is no doubt that you need to quit smoking and drinking and get on a regimen of exercise and fitness program. If you are not willing to do this, then there is no hope.

You could develop OCD but right now it is obsession and a fixation that just won? T leave you. Now you can get all these contaminated items cleaned, changed, or removed. But if your mind wants to obsess, it will find something or the other and it can easily and convincingly obsess about it, instead. You have a serious problem with unexpressed fear that is finding this form as a way of expressing it. The bottom line of the obsession is this fear. It has refined itself to hygiene aspects and worries itself about being infected. Meet with a counselor and discuss your fear, for a long time to come, going back into your childhood perhaps to trace its origins. You could also develop a checklist method of verifying that everything is really clean or that you are doing the right thing yourself to ensure that you are not contaminated. But this would mean that you really believe in your obsession! So please trust that, if you have been brought up normally, you have the immune system to combat most infections. The earlier you deal with this, the less complicated it will become over time.

My memory is too weak, generally I forget the thing where I have saw it lst time. What should I do? But good thing is I can understand difficult concepts easily compare to others but can't hold it for long time. Please help me.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Here’s some tips to get into a state of deep concentration where work / or studies flow easily so that you can do well in examinations/ and or do your work well. 1) Cut Off the Noise Getting into a state of concentration can take at least fifteen minutes. If you are getting distracted every five, you can’t possibly focus entirely on your work. Request that people don’t interrupt you when working on a big project. If you are required to answer phones and drop-in’s immediately, schedule work when the office is less busy. 2) Structure Your Environment The place you work can have an impact on your ability to focus. Try to locate yourself so you are facing potential distractions such as doors, phones or windows. This way you can take a glance to assess sounds that would otherwise break your focus. 3) Clarify Objectives Know what your goal is clearly before you start. If you aren’t sure what the end result is, the confusion will make it impossible to focus. 4) Divide Blobs. If you have a large project that needs work, clearly identify a path that you will use to get started working on it. If the sequence of actions isn’t obvious, it will be difficult to concentrate. Taking a few minutes to plan not only your end result, but the order you will complete any steps, can save hours in wasted thinking. 5) Know the Rules Get clear on what the guidelines are for the task ahead. What level of quality do you need? What standards do you need to follow? What constraints are there? If the rules aren’t clear from the outset, you will slip out of concentration as you ponder them later. 6) Set a Deadline Deadlines have both advantages and disadvantages when trying to force concentration. A deadline can make it easier to forget the non-essential and speed up your working time. If you give yourself only an hour to design a logo, you will keep it simple and avoid fiddling with extravagant designs. Time limits have disadvantages when they cause you to worry about the time you have left instead of the task itself. 7) Break down Roadblocks Roadblocks occur whenever you hit a tricky problem in your work. This can happen when you run out of ideas or your focus wavers. Break down roadblocks by brainstorming or planning on a piece of paper. Writing out your thought processes can keep you focused even if you might become frustrated. 8) Isolate Yourself Become a hermit and stay away from other people if you want to get work done. Unless your work is based on other people they will only break your focus. Create a private space and refuse to talk to anyone until your work is finished. Put a sign on your door to steer away drop-ins and don’t answer your phone. 9) Healthy Body, Sharper Mind What you put into your body affects the way you concentrate. Nobody would expect peak performance if they showed up drunk to work. But if you allow yourself to get chronic sleep deprivation, overuse stimulants like caffeine or eat dense, fatty foods your concentration will suffer. Try to cut out one of your unhealthy habits for just thirty days to see if there is a difference in your energy levels. I’ve found even small steps can create dramatic changes in my ability to focus. 10) Be Patient Before I write an article, I often sit at my desk for a fifteen or twenty minutes before I put finger on the keyboard. During this time I feel a strong urge to leave or do something else. But I know that if I am patient, I’ll stumble upon an idea to write about and enter a state of flow. Without a little patience, you can’t take advantage of flow when it rushed through you. If you need strong concentration I recommend periods of 90-120 minutes. Any less than that and you will waste too much time getting started before the flow can continue. More than this is possible to sustain focus, but you will probably benefit from a quick break. These are the general guidelines for concentration, studying well or doing your job. Regards.

Some years ago it might have been easy but as you grow up various distractions will disturb you. Meet with a counselor and sort out those disturbances effectively. In the meantime do the following: Daily exercise of at least half an hour is a must. Even if you go to a gym, ask for aerobic and/or callisthenic exercises with whatever else you are doing. A healthy body harbors a healthy mind. With regard to memory, it is very important that your brain and body is ideally rested to be able to recall whatever is required, rather comfortably. Puzzles pose problems to the brain that help it to use new pathways and neurons, which give the brain considerable exercise. It taxes the left brain to use logic to solve the myriad possibilities which other activities do not stimulate. Crosswords are excellent for vocabulary learning and use. Jigsaws and Rubik cube stimulate different permutations to finally settle on the most likely one. Picture completion and anagrams help approach problem solving from several angles. Do Sudoku, and memory co-relation activities and skills. Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), nuts, avocado, eat dark chocolate, consume less of fat and use olive oil instead, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Have a special place of learning, which should be well lit, with soft painted walls, well-ventilated, with no distractions. When you get bored, study by writing. If you repeat learning at least five to seven times, you will apparently remember for a longer time. Sit comfortably but do not slouch. The reading material should be of a fairly large print. Study at small intervals of about 40 minutes and then take a break or change the subject. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. There are some memory enhancing techniques and study methods that your teacher will be able to guide you with. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling too. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid sugar and junk food.
