Communicate with your parents about why they won't let you marry. If direct communication is not possible, involve a family member or friend to intervene. If that does not work either, take the help of a psychologist/ counselor/ psychiatrist. In the meanwhile, set some life goals for yourself. Take up a job or do a course that will help you in the field of your choice. Marriage is an important part of your life, but it is not everything. It is possible once you give this situation some time, things will work out. However if you are feeling suicidal or hopeless, consult a psychiatrist immediately.

Dear lybrate user. Loosing someone or something very dear to you may cause grief and as per some studies grief may last even for longer times like 2 years. These studies have found that the void created by the loss may sometimes be found for as long as 2 years and intermittently you may fell lonely whenever you have the memories of that person. But if those periods are causing you severe impairments as to not allowing you to work with full efficiency or causing decreased social interactions as in your case, you may require help from a psychiatrist. Kindly get help and get your full assessment done so as to decide the further line of management. Take care.

Write what is causing you stress and try to see things from different perspective. Over focusing on issues brings unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Hi. My anxiety started from light headedness. Few weeks I became alright. I thought its general light headedness then I went to general physician. He did all blood tests in which my hemoglobin was low, my fbs was on borderline. Thyroid profile was lil bit high. Vit d was also low and cbc result was fine so he prescribed me medicines for all of that but suddenly I got panic attack and I that this lightheadedness is occurring due to cancer, infct my all tests were done as I hv mentioned above. Do not know y I got stuck on cancer word and I got panic attack. Although my treatment is going on for the same. Will I be fine? My question is only this all happened due to light headedness. So light headedness is part of anxiety? I mean is light headedness initial level of anxiety? Although I hv heard dat palpitations, fear etc happen first in anxiety. Thn y light headedness? please reply.

Hi lybrate-user, I can understand your feelings and your worries are not false. When some symptoms occur we tend to think negative outcomes first. So you thought of cancer. Here you have to educate yourself for various causes of lightheadedness. Analyse deeply when you felt it for the first time did you change your schedule suddenly? Or you were dehydrated? Or were you having any infection? Think and write down all the possible causes. You are now over thinking about it. So first pause and think of the causes of lightheadedness. You will be fine once you treat this. It may be due to your imbalanced thyroid levels or vit D level too. So don't worry. Also read about anxiety also. I would suggest you to get your vitamin B 12 check also. Have healthy diet and drink lots of water. For further consultation you may take appointment with me.

Masturbation is not the reason for stress and anxiety, it is a healthy form of sexual outlet. Consult a psychiatrist and find out the reasons behind stress and anxiety. Anxiety itself can lead to ED and PE.

I am an engineering Student. I feel stressed every time. How can I feel stress free? Please advice.
First of all, the intensity of stress is in the perception. Change your perception, there is no stress: it’s like looking at a glass half full or half empty. Apart from that, all your emotions need to be dealt with by expression i.e. you need to talk about the feelings. Then you need to exercise regularly, eat fiber foods (whole grains, fruits and vegetables), sleep at least 8 hours every day, learn Yoga and meditation, learn stress management, and do a personality development course. Because you are into studies, follow a tight schedule, with good breaks and study habits. If group study helps you, do it with the right people. If tutoring is required, arrange for the same. These should see you through successfully without the stress.

Dear lybrate-user, welcome to lybrate. You must be able to understand concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. If the task is boring, it is natural that that person will sleep or feel sleepy. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. You should be able to overcome distractions or avoid distractions. Please understand the above. Change your study style and attitude accordingly.

Your sexual attraction towards other males is not because of your thought process. It is probably because of your sexual inclination, or some childhood experience and it is your physical need. I can imagine that you are not comfortable accepting this fact. Actually, to find out whether you are gay or heterosexual, it is advisable to talk to a counsellor or a sexologist. Some encounters with males in you childhood does not make you gay, but now how you feel matters more. So please consult a counsellor or a sexologist. Till then do not get married, because you will not be happy in heterosexual marriage if you are gay. If in spite of knowing that you are getting attracted to males if you marry a girl, you will have trouble when she will find out. Once your sexuality is understood by you, you are likely to get rid you your depression and anxiety.

For practical purposes you can try to gt married to someone who is understanding and helpful. But right now I can give you study tips to do well in your exams. If you feel excessive sleep or tiredness/ head spinning or vertigo like feeling you have to make sure you have no anaemia or hypothyroidism by doing a blood CBC & TSH and inform me directly 10 Study Tips to Improve Your Learning Study Tip 1: Underlining Underlining is one of the simplest and best known study tips. It’s easy to highlight the most significant parts of what you’re reading. One key sentence per paragraph and a few important phrases here and there. You can only retain a certain amount so it’s best to retain the most important information. Study Tip 2: Make your own note and taking notes is one of the most widespread study skills out there. Essentially the aim of note-taking is to summarise lectures or articles in your own words so you can easily remember the ideas. Study Tip 3: Mind mapping A good Mind map can save you many hours of study and further consolidate your knowledge for your exams. Mind Maps are an extremely versatile tools. They can be used for brainstorming, outlining essays or study topics and for general exam preparation, ExamTime offers the ability to create Mind Maps quickly and easily which makes them the ideal tool when it comes to exams. Study Tip 4: Flash cards:- Using these are a particularly effective method of learning when trying to assimilate different facts, dates, formulas or vocabulary. Subjects such as History, Physics, Maths, Chemistry, Geography or any language are made much easier if you incorporate Flashcards in to your study. Study Tip 5: Case Studies Sometimes it can be difficult to grasp the implications of some theories. This is where studying case studies can be a big help. Case studies can help you visualise a theory and place it in a more familiar and realistic context. This is especially useful in business or law subjects. Study Tip 6: Quizzes are an excellent way to review study notes in the weeks and days before an exam. Quizzes can show where your strengths and weaknesses are, so it allows you to focus your efforts more precisely. Moreover, if you share your Study Quiz with your classmates and test each other as much as possible you can discover even more details and areas you may have overlooked. So before any exam, make sure you create and share a bunch of different Quizzes with your Friends. Study Tip 7: Brainstorming This is another study technique that is ideal for studying with friends and/or classmates. Brainstorming is a great way to expand every possible idea out of any topic. Just get a bunch of friends together and shoot the breeze, there are no wrong answers when brainstorming – just talk and capture the ideas, you can review afterward. Study Tip 8: Mnemonic Rules Mnemonics are especially useful when memorising lists and sets. Mnemonics rules basically work by associating certain concepts with other concepts that are more familiar to us. There are many different ways to make mnemonics and these can be individual to the person. Study Tip 9: ORGANISE your study One of the most effective study skills is also one of the most often overlooked; this is organising your study. Creating a TIME TABLE gives you goals and a time in which to achieve them. Having a study timetable as you study is greatly motivational Study Tip 10: Drawing Many people find it easier to recall images rather than text that is why they are better able to memorise concepts if they associate them with pictures or drawings. If you find answer helpful please click on “helpful” tab for knowing my efforts are useful CONCENTRATION TIPS Here’s some tips to get into a state of deep concentration where work / or studies flow easily so that you can do well in examinations/ and or do your work well. 1) Cut Off the Noise Getting into a state of concentration can take at least fifteen minutes. If you are getting distracted every five, you can’t possibly focus entirely on your work. Request that people don’t interrupt you when working on a big project. If you are required to answer phones and drop-in’s immediately, schedule work when the office is less busy. 2) Structure Your Environment The place you work can have an impact on your ability to focus. Try to locate yourself so you are facing potential distractions such as doors, phones or windows. This way you can take a glance to assess sounds that would otherwise break your focus. 3) Clarify Objectives Know what your goal is clearly before you start. If you aren’t sure what the end result is, the confusion will make it impossible to focus. 4) Divide Blobs. If you have a large project that needs work, clearly identify a path that you will use to get started working on it. If the sequence of actions isn’t obvious, it will be difficult to concentrate. Taking a few minutes to plan not only your end result, but the order you will complete any steps, can save hours in wasted thinking. 5) Know the Rules Get clear on what the guidelines are for the task ahead. What level of quality do you need? What standards do you need to follow? What constraints are there? If the rules aren’t clear from the outset, you will slip out of concentration as you ponder them later. 6) Set a Deadline Deadlines have both advantages and disadvantages when trying to force concentration. A deadline can make it easier to forget the non-essential and speed up your working time. If you give yourself only an hour to design a logo, you will keep it simple and avoid fiddling with extravagant designs. Time limits have disadvantages when they cause you to worry about the time you have left instead of the task itself. 7) Break down Roadblocks Roadblocks occur whenever you hit a tricky problem in your work. This can happen when you run out of ideas or your focus wavers. Break down roadblocks by brainstorming or planning on a piece of paper. Writing out your thought processes can keep you focused even if you might become frustrated. 8) Isolate Yourself Become a hermit and stay away from other people if you want to get work done. Unless your work is based on other people they will only break your focus. Create a private space and refuse to talk to anyone until your work is finished. Put a sign on your door to steer away drop-ins and don’t answer your phone. 9) Healthy Body, Sharper Mind What you put into your body affects the way you concentrate. Nobody would expect peak performance if they showed up drunk to work. But if you allow yourself to get chronic sleep deprivation, overuse stimulants like caffeine or eat dense, fatty foods your concentration will suffer. Try to cut out one of your unhealthy habits for just thirty days to see if there is a difference in your energy levels. I’ve found even small steps can create dramatic changes in my ability to focus. 10) Be Patient Before I write an article, I often sit at my desk for a fifteen or twenty minutes before I put finger on the keyboard. During this time I feel a strong urge to leave or do something else. But I know that if I am patient, I’ll stumble upon an idea to write about and enter a state of flow. Without a little patience, you can’t take advantage of flow when it rushed through you. If you need strong concentration I recommend periods of 90-120 minutes. Any less than that and you will waste too much time getting started before the flow can continue. More than this is possible to sustain focus, but you will probably benefit from a quick break. These are the general guidelines for concentration, studying well or doing your job. Regards.

Hi Lybrate user in Ayurveda anxiety, panic attacks are diagnose under manoroga, mann durbalta is major cause of these reaction. Frist you have to understand that when we face any incidence and it impact in our mind goes deep it makes a psychological impression in our unconscious mind and then a neuropathway (negative belief) is created and patient is bound to react when this pathway is activated by any incidence or thoughts process. Avoiding these situation can relieve you but until and unless you not release those negative psychic impression from your unconscious mind these reaction will not cured. So I suggest you to adopt the way of meditation so that by practice these meditation when you become able to access you unconscious mind you will be able to release those negative psychic impression, but it will need your hard work and attention for this approach any spiritually inlighted master. Till then I suggest you to use some Ayurveda tips. 1-take ashwagandha churna one gram twice a day. 2-jatamansi churna 5 gram twice a day. 3-use mahanarayan oil on your head in night. 4-use salmon omega 3 one capsule daily in morning. 5-triphala churna 5-10 gram every night. Pranayam effectively controls the mind so every day do anuloom vilom 15 minutes 3-5 times slowly when you feel anxious. Spiritual ritual are important to strength your mind (eshwar pranidhan). Chant Om mantra on agya chakra, crown chakra, throat chakra 10 minutes each everyday morning and evening. For panic attack keep your clonazepam with you for emergency in initial phase. For further assistance feel free to consult me. Cure is possible. Your feedback is appreciated. Wishing you a healthier life.

Hello, aging is a main factor of weak memory, Forgetfulness is a common complaint among older adults. The brain is capable of producing new brain cells at any age, so significant memory loss is not an inevitable result of aging. But just as it is with muscle strength, you have to use it or lose it. Your lifestyle, health habits, and daily activities have a huge impact on the health of your brain.

Hi it may not be anxiety, but an excitement / euphoria which you have not experienced till now. Do not try to control if just experience and enjoy it. If you feel that it is affecting your functional abilities or if there are complaints that it is becoming a disturbance to others, get in touch with a clinical psychologist to confirm whether its normal happiness or the initial stage of mania/ hypomania.

Dear Kondalrao. Welcome to lybrate. You yourself are clear that your vertigo do not have any physiological reasons. Therefore you should not worry about it. The more you worry about it, the more you are obsessed. Obsession leads to symptoms which are somatoform. Consult a psychologist online for counseling. Take care.

Quitipin is an anti psychotic and not for stress, taking alternate days can lead to serious side effects and not recommended in any health guidelines, it is not over the counter drug to be taken as per your wish. Consult a psychiatrist, get diagnosed correctly and take medicine as per his advise and attend review regularly. Your case reminds me of one of my patient who did the same with quitipin and landed in stroke, i.e. Paralysis of one side of body.
