Dear lybrate-user, You can consult a speech therapist and attend a personality development course. Add, a clinical psychologist to the list. Those therapists know the extent of your problem and their limitations. At some stage, they may refer you to a psychiatrist. The psychiatrist may offer an antidepressant and/or anxiolytic drug for few months in addition. I hope you have done ENT check up.

Hi there ~ Getting good sleep is important in maintaining health. There are several things that you can do to promote good sleep, and ultimately Get Better Sleep. Maintain a regular sleep routine Go to bed at the same time. Wake up at the same time. Ideally, your schedule will remain the same (+/- 20 minutes) every night of the week. Avoid naps if possible Naps decrease the ‘Sleep Debt’ that is so necessary for easy sleep onset. Each of us needs a certain amount of sleep per 24-hour period. We need that amount, and we don’t need more than that. When we take naps, it decreases the amount of sleep that we need the next night – which may cause sleep fragmentation and diffulty initiating sleep, and may lead to insomnia. Don’t stay in bed awake for more than 5-10 minutes. If you find your mind racing, or worrying about not being able to sleep during the middle of the night, get out of bed, and sit in a chair in the dark. Do your mind racing in the chair until you are sleepy, then return to bed. No TV or internet during these periods! That will just stimulate you more than desired. If this happens several times during the night, that is OK. Just maintain your regular wake time, and try to avoid naps. Don’t watch TV or read in bed. When you watch TV or read in bed, you associate the bed with wakefulness. The bed is reserved for two things – sleep and hanky panky. Do not drink caffeine inappropriately The effects of caffeine may last for several hours after ingestion. Caffeine can fragment sleep, and cause difficulty initiating sleep. If you drink caffeine, use it only before noon. Remember that soda and tea contain caffeine as well. Avoid inappropriate substances that interfere with sleep Cigarettes, alcohol, and over-the-counter medications may cause fragmented sleep. Exercise regularly Exercise before 2 pm every day. Exercise promotes continuous sleep. Avoid rigorous exercise before bedtime. Rigorous exercise circulates endorphins into the body which may cause difficulty initiating sleep. Have a quiet, comfortable bedroom Set your bedroom thermostat at a comfortable temperature. Generally, a little cooler is better than a little warmer. Turn off the TV and other extraneous noise that may disrupt sleep. Background ‘white noise’ like a fan is OK. If your pets awaken you, keep them outside the bedroom. Your bedroom should be dark. Turn off bright lights. Have a comfortable mattress. If you are a ‘clock watcher’ at night, hide the clock. Have a comfortable pre-bedtime routine A warm bath, shower Meditation, or quiet time If you are still not able to sleep well please set up a consultation and we will try to help.

Different Ways to Boost Women's Health

Diploma in Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Secunderabad
Different Ways to Boost Women's Health

Women's health concerns are a little different from those of men. If you're a woman, these tips will soon have you feeling fit and energetic.

Eat a healthy diet: you want to eat as close to a natural foods diet as you can, that means a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and fewer processed foods. Eat whole grains and high-fiber foods and choose leaner cuts of meat, fish, and poultry. Include low-fat dairy products in your diet as well - depending on your age, you need between 800 and 1, 500 milligrams of calcium daily to help avoid osteoporosis. Avoid foods and beverages that are high in calories, sugar, salt, and fat.

Apple cider vinegar in water is the best way to start your day. This bitter drink helps to stimulate the stomach's digestive juices, to help with food digestion. Try taking two teaspoons in water 10 minutes before breakfast.

Healthy eating will help you maintain a proper weight for your height, which is important because being overweight can lead to a number of illnesses. Try some raw vegetables, such as celery, carrots, broccoli, cucumbers, or zucchini with a dip made from low-fat yogurt.

Exercise: you want to exercise at least 30 minutes a day, five days a week, if not every day. Aerobic exercises (walking, swimming, jogging, bicycling, dancing) are good for women's health in general and especially for your heart

Manage stress: no matter what stage of her life - daughter, mother, grandmother - a woman often wears many hats and deals with a lot of pressure and stress. Take a few minutes every day just to relax and get your perspective back again. It doesn't take long, and mental health is important to your physical well-being.' you also can manage stress with exercise, relaxation techniques, or meditation.

Avoid risky habits: stay away from cigarettes and people who smoke. Don't use drugs. If you drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Most women's health studies show that women can safely consume one drink a day

Dear Lybrate user, Welcome to Lybrate. Chewing tobacco addiction also comes under abuse and addiction. If you’re ready to stop the substance and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from addiction and abuse —no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of addiction. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan. Take care.

I am in a very strange situation. I am getting lot of love from my bf but we have trust issues. My bf doubts that I am in relation with my friend and calls me my ex. He keeps blaming me about him. He says that my friend comes online only when I am not talking to my bf. I got vexed up with this an d broke all contacts with my friend for my bf. I never tried to contact my friend again. I thought that issues gets settled after this. But my bf still blames that I am in contact with my friend. whenever we are not in contact, he always doubts that I am with my friend. I tried to make him clear on this many times but he is not believing me. I thought to check my friends online status and saved his number on my mobile just to check his online status. One day his number is not getting deleted, So I had to uninstall whats app before my bf came to my place. When I asked my friend to send whats app app to me, my bf heard that and starts doubting me more. I thought that it is nt possible for my friend to come online every time when I am not talking to my bf. But that app is just killing me. whenever my bf is not talking with me. He is getting notification that my friend is online and according to my bf. I message my bf only when my friend goes offline. Things have gone worsened day by day. So I contacted my friend and told him about my problem. My friend asked me to leave my bf as he does not trust me. But I did not agree to that. Later I deleted my call loggs in my fon regarding my conversation with my friend, thinking that my bf will doubt more. But My bf is too intelligent that he checked true caller and identified that I talked to my friend. At that time my friend gave another number of his classmate so that I can call him if his network was not good. My bf noted that number also. Also, my friend has a gf whose number I gave to my bf. But he says that my friend and his gf never came online together. Later my bf started saying that number is also my friend's and that he is maintaining two numbers for me. Recently his classmate created whats app and my bf started abusing me that this number is also my friend's and he is maintaining 3 numbers for me. whenever one person in those three numbers comes online when I am not in contact with my bf. He starts abusing me very badly calling me a prostitute and a bitch. When I am not working, I used to spend onm skype whole day with my bf so that he does not doubt me. Even then when I used to go for wash room or drinking water, my bf used to doubt me. Now I have started working and now it is impossible to talk to him on skype all day. He thinks that I am having another phone which I uses only to contact my friend which is not true. Because of this in stopped going out and stay on skype whole day until I sleep. Now he started abusing that my friend comes online only after I get up and talks to me. When I am talking to him on for also, my bf thinks that i am chatting with my friend. Now a days he is blaming that I am chatting with my friend even when I am chatting with my bf. Continued in next question.

I think" trust" is a huge concern here. I sense that you are not happy with this relationship. But you are thinking that you are getting lots of love from your bf. I would suggest you to think more about it, do you really feel loved" love" - is freedom, respect, and taking care. Are you getting all this? please also think, for your own benefit, that what is the reason, that you are continuing in such emotionally abusive relationship? it appears that your bf is treating you like a weakling and you are submitting yourself to his demands. Another thing is, you are aware that your bf does not like you to maintain contact with your other friend, but you are still in touch with him. You need to decide which relationship is more important for you. Also please think about how will you manage in future with your bf if he is so suspicious? please think rationally, take someone's advice and then take decision to maintain that relation, which will not harm your present and future.

Have very low energy levels. Don't know why. I had been the fastest athlete at school and still would be faster than most of the people around. However, I don't feel excited about anything. Feel low and drained for most of the time. Have gastric issues with irregular bowel movements. Tried exercising for a week but that didn't help but leaded to further fatigue. I tend to get irritated very soon and can feel irritation in my gut when feeling irritated. I struggle with responding spontaneously but can produce best of responses given time. Lack of spontaneity adversely impacts both at home and at work as well. Please suggest some remedy.

You need to explain about the psychiatric hospitalization that you mention. What was that for? From your description it sounds like you are into a depression. Your past glories are no consequence right now. What you are doing to yourself is important: to me it appears that a lot of your health problems are psychosomatic in nature and may present real medical complications and will demand medical intervention too. Please meet with a counselor and work on your emotions, particularly anger. Your expectations on yourself may be a wee bit high too. You should consume a lot of pro-biotic foods to stabilize your stomach. Then gradually you can introduce other healthy items into your diet and return your health to what it was before. Exercise is very important but you have to build on it developmentally. I am all for your exercise but when you are ready for it. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive everyday and learn to be contended with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved. I wish you were more specific about the hospitalization to help you better.

I have been ill for 6 months. I have not been doing any of my work because of headache, low mood, heaviness in head. I do not get up early in the morning. Helpless to speak or talk, weak memory, hopeless in life. I do not do my work. Only take food and go to bed or watch tv or search google etc. I gave up my job of teaching. I feel very helplessness to talk my family or others. I think I am useless and do not enjoy my life at all. I am married and I have a 4 years old daughter. It has happened 5 times before in 2006,2007,2010,2013 & 2014. After treatment I became cure every time within 3-4 months. But this time I have been taking medicines regularly but no improvement. Doctors say it is depression. But I am very hopeless this time. I do not understand what to do. Please help me.

I have been ill for 6 months. I have not been doing any of my work because of headache, low mood, heaviness in head. ...
It is depression and you need to combine medication with counseling for any long-term recovery. You need both counseling and medical intervention. The combination is ideal for the cure to be complete. In fact, counseling will need to go on for a long time to develop skills and techniques to cope with everyday challenges of your life. If you remain episode-free for three years at least, you can be weaned off of the medication. In the meantime please do the following that can be done all by yourself as you desire: You must be active and work towards your reformation. Many lifestyle changes need to be made to progress away for the condition. When you are depressed, you will feel lazy though I would like to call it lethargy. There is an inertia and lack of energy to even think, let alone act. You are required to literally do the opposite of what you feel like doing. Depression makes you want to withdraw, lie down, sleep, become lethargic, slow down, make you too lazy to even think etc. So when I suggested doing the opposite, you will need to fight this disease. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Hello. Thanks for the query. I understand your plight & can surely help you to get rid of both the tablets. But the medications have to be gradually tapered so that you dont suffer unwanted side effects. Tablet escitalent plus contains escitalopram 10mg & clonazepam 0.5mg of which clonazepam is a sleeping pill. Tablet zolfresh 10mg is also a sleeping pill. So first up; start taking zolfresh 5mg at night just before going to bed & continue t. Escitalent plus as it is. Then contact me after 10 days so we can decide about other medications. Good luck.

Dear lybrate-user, now a days, in the world of nuclear family, everyone accepts the merits of joint family. You must read those articles. In what ways joint family system is far better than nuclear family, you must understand. Even in you office, due to manpower excess, we encounter problems. But we are able to manage it without much stress. At home, they are all our own blood or relatives. Nobody can harm the other. You can talk to any of your family and come a a concensus. Please talk to other people about your stress in a suitable voice and show your helplessness. They will help you overcome this problem. You may also consult a psychologist for advise. Take care.

8 Warning Signs for Silent Domestic Abuse Victims

8 Warning Signs for Silent Domestic Abuse Victims

As much as we would like to ignore it, domestic abuse is a very common problem. Not every woman has the strength to fight against it and confide in someone. As a friend, it is your duty to look out for them. You don’t have to be an expert in psychology to know the warning signs of domestic violence. Here are 8 such warning signs.

  1. She is quiet when he is around: If your friend is normally jovial and suddenly becomes quiet the moment her partner is around, don’t overlook the change. She may be scared of saying something that might upset him and start a fight.
  2. She allows herself to be put down: In almost all cases of domestic violence, the woman is made to feel guilty about everything. This becomes habit and she loses her will to fight back. If you notice you’re friend allowing her partner to walk over her and put her down, she may be facing abuse at home.
  3. She withdraws from friends and family: Social withdrawal is another major sign of domestic violence. There may be a number of reasons for this; he is too possessive of her, she is injured and scared of letting people see her injuries etc.
  4. Unexplained injuries: Making an excuse that walking into a door caused a black eye isn’t only a scene from the movies. If your friend suddenly starts wearing inappropriate clothes such as long sleeved tops in summer, she may be a victim of domestic abuse. Look out for such excuses and injuries.
  5. Plans that are frequently cancelled at the last moment: Victims of domestic abuse often make plans, but never keep them. This could be because their partner does not like them going out without them or because she is injured and doesn’t want you to see her injuries.
  6. She has casually mentioned violent behavior, but dismissed it lightly: Casually mentioning violent behavior at home could be your friend’s way of trying to tell you that something is wrong. We fear being judged and hence it is sometimes very difficult to speak openly about facing domestic abuse. If you feel a friend is being domestically abused, encourage her to share her problems with you.
  7. Her finances and personal choices are not controlled by her: Domestic abuse victims usually have most of their lives controlled by their partners. This includes finances, choice of clothing, social attendance etc.
  8. The children seem nervous and frequently upset: Children may not say much, but notice a lot. Even if they are not abused, seeing their mother hurt can affect a child and make them moody, withdrawn and upset.

My kid crying to go school she always complaints teacher scolding and beating actually nothing was happening there. How to deal her she was single no other child in our premises or relatives at her age. She keeps silent plays alone how to deal her. Even in school she plays at her own.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

She clearly does not like school. It is best to talk to the teachers and ask them to give her small responsibilities and chores to do in school. If they give her positive attention when she performs these activities she will feel productive. Gradually she may be asked to do some activities with other children and thus increase her involvement with her fellow students. At home make it a point to discuss school with a lot of interest, and her actions during school. There are so many things to talk about: her studies, friends, teachers, school, classroom, some parents, lunchtime, sports, games, pe classes, music, craft, bands, etc. Once you and your wife show interest in her activities at school, she will feel good and want to impress you over a period of time. Sometimes you may have to feign ignorance with certain topics and subjects, as though she knows more than you. Invite some of her friends over for tea or a party; alternatively you can go with her to meet some of her school friends even if you have to travel a good distance. Never let her be alone at least at home and definitely with some support from her teachers this can be implemented even in school. Over a period of time she will respond to these suggestions positively and your problems will all be over and so will hers.
