Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. First and foremost is to achieve a strict blood glucose control with fasting close to 100 mg, PP 170 to 180 mg & HbA1c% close to7%. Things to avoid I am sure you are aware, like, sweets, deep fried foods, junk food, pastries, bakery items & foods made from maida. Plus avoid colas, alcohol & smokibg. Use whole grain flour for roti & chapatis. Increase the intake of green leafy vegetables, salds & some fruits. Noodles if made from whole grain flour then it is good, otherwise should be avoided. Thanks.

I am a 24 year old male and my weight about 84 kgs. Please give some openion how I reduce my body weight.

I am a 24 year old male and my weight about 84 kgs. Please give some openion how I reduce my body weight.
I am both a registered dietitian and a doctor who will help you in losing your weight as well as solve your other health problems through diet. Let me know your food intake details. The best diet is one which is healthy and well balanced with foods from all the food groups, and one which is varied and that you can stick to weight loss on some diets can be dramatic in the short term, but there's more of a chance of rebound weight gain. Set yourself a realistic target and aim to lose between (0.5-1.0kg) a week I being a registered dietitian strongly accommodate the patients own preferences without the patient feeling that they are on a diet not compromising the weight management goals. Don't fall for self dieting or fad diets availiable online they have harmful effects in the long run, if you lose a lot of weight very quickly, you may not lose as much fat as you would with a more modest rate of weight loss. Instead, you might lose water weight or even lean muscle tissue, since it's hard to burn that many fat calories in a short period. I will need to carry out detailed assessment in your case, after assessing your personal challenges to weight loss, I will recommend a strategy to gradually change habits and attitudes that have sabotaged your past efforts. Also the overall objective should not be to drastically reduce weight but doing it gradually and help rebuild body tissues and to maintain ideal body weight. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Hi for increasing body weight, start eating more chapatis and rice with ghee or butter. Take creamed milk upto 400 ml daily. Eat fresh fruits and vegetables, take pulses and pulses products. You can eat homemade fried foods but avoid eating from the market. If you eat non-veg then eat 2 to 3 pcs. Of egg or fish thrice a week. Also take 4 to 6 pcs. Of almonds or cashew nuts or some raisins. Must take exercise daily as it helps in better absorption of food and also increases your satiety.

I am 57 years old and have been suffering from diabetes for the last decade or so. Despite my adherence to strict diet and exercise regime my HAB1C reading has gone from 7.5 to 8.5 this time around. My tryglyercides have also shot from 153 to 189. Is there any thing which I require to do to bring my blood sugar level and triglycerides to a manageable limit. My BP & cholesterol is normal.

For a diabetic it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the sugar levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - have small frequent meals. Do not fast for long hours. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar. Avoid junk foods. Sometimes it is possible you are not eating the right foods at the right time. Exercise and stay active. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into hypoglycaemia. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

You don't need any medicine. For reducing weight and to correct hormonal imbalance you should avoid - 1). Packed, processed, baked & milk products. 2). Minimise white sugar, oil in food and maida items. 3). Eat 2-3 fruits in breakfast and a plate full of salad before lunch. 4). Do 30 mins of brisk walk and light exercise every day. You will start losing weight gradually. All the best.
