You want to gain weight, then it is very important that you do it right. Binging on soda and donuts may help you gain weight, but it can destroy your health at the same time. If you are underweight, then you want to gain a balanced amount of muscle mass and subcutaneous fat, not a bunch of unhealthy belly fat. Therefore, it is absolutely very important to eat mostly healthy foods even if you are trying to gain weight. Here are food groups and few tips to gain weight, follow this - * You need to eat more calories than your body burns in order to gain weight. Aim for 300-500 calories per day above your maintenance level, or 700-1000 calories if you want to gain weight fast. * Protein forms the building blocks of your muscles. Eating sufficient protein is required to gain muscle weight instead of just fat. *High-protein foods include meats, fish, eggs,  many dairy products, legumes, nuts and others. * In order to gain weight, eat at least 5 meals per day and make sure to eat plenty of fat, carbs and protein. * Don’t drink water before meals. This can fill your stomach and make it harder to get in enough calories. * Drink milk. Drinking whole milk to quench thirst is a simple way to get in more high-quality protein and calories. Losing weight is not a hard but maintaining a weight is difficult. Cut down sugar and oil from your diet. Drink plenty of water and do 1 hour exercise daily like walking, swimming etc.

Hello lybrate-user you can add banana, berries to it. After a tough workout, we need to replenish our bodies stores of energy. For this reason, we need to include some carbohydrate in a post work out snack. Intense exercise or weight training can also lead to muscle break down, so some protein is also required to provide the essential amino acids necessary to do this. Hye, Thanks for the query. Firstly understand that weight gain is very dependent on genetics and metabolism along with your daily diet and exercise routine. It is important to know that just eating just two heavy meals a day will not help. Weight gain is all about taking more calories than you burn. Eating the right foods at the right time is very important. There is no one food that helps weight gain. Eat meals at frequent intervals. You need to eat at least 6 main and mid meals a day. Eat a mid meal between each main meal. Avoid junk foods. Include dairy, eggs, nuts, fruits, dry fruits, starchy vegetables, rice, bread, whole grain cereals, smoothies, masala milk, ghee, cream in your meals. Just eating sugary, sweet foods is not good. Try to have healthy deserts like kheer, chikki or lassi. Avoid alcohol and smoking. Exercise at least thrice a week. It helps development of muscle mass and improves appetite. Even if you were to take just medicines or supplements they will not work in isolation. You need to have a calorie and nutrient dense meal and good exercise routine, it's crucial.
