Having diabetes which important tests should a person do by itself after short intervals to ensure that he is going right.

Mr. Lybrate-user, if one has diabetes mellitus, then regular blood sugar check up is necessary. One can do this test at home with a glucometer. Frequency depends on severity and type of treatment. Because if a patient is on insulin then very frequent testing is needed. Otherwise initially once a week, later at once in 15 days or so. Secondly once in 3 to 6 months hba1c% should be checked. Also periodically lipids (cholesterol) also should be checked. Also once a year get the eyes checked for any retinal involvement, this is a very necessary test.

The tadpole endoscope stands out from existing wireless capsule endoscopes with its addition of a soft tail that allows it to be guided around the stomach remotely by a doctor, allowing for more comprehensive imaging and accurate location of problems within the body.

Cancers of the gastrointestinal (gi) tract, including esophagus cancer, stomach cancer and colon cancer, rank as the second most prevalent among all types of cancers in the world.

Three procedures are required for the traditional method of diagnosing cancers in the gi tract: esophagus cancer and stomach cancer can be diagnosed using gastroscopy; intestinal cancer can be diagnosed using capsule endoscopy; and colorectal cancer can be diagnosed using colonoscopy. All of these diagnostic procedures are expensive and put a lot of stress on the human body.

Created by engineers from the institute of precision engineering at the chinese university of hong kong, the te attempts to improve these existing methods by offering a reliable, non-invasive diagnosis procedure for the gi tract.

The process will work by the patient going to the hospital and swallowing the te which starts working immediately. Once the te is in the stomach, the doctor can control the te to swim around to gather images. By adjusting the posture of the patient, the doctor can view the whole stomach.

The te will then move into the lower gi tract depending on natural peristalsis. The patient can then be sent home wearing a sensor pad to record these images which the doctor can subsequently use to make a diagnosis.

So far, the te has been tested in a stomach model and a pig stomach without the image system. The authors hope that the viability of the propulsion model will take one step closer to the next stage of experiments before the device can be used in a working medical context. The research was published in the journal hkie transactions.

Hello, Adding malted beverages like horlicks, Bournvita are loaded with sugar with no or minimal health benefits. The best combination to boost serotonin is adding a pinch of turmeric to warm milk.

Dear Lybrate User, Light to moderate exercise doesn't have any negative effects on ovulation. However, excessive exercise can drastically reduce estrogen and progesterone levels, delaying ovulation or even suppressing it altogether. So, there is no harm in doing household work or yoga.

Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes mellitus occurs due to either lack of insulin or resistance to its action or both. This is true with t2 dm. In t1 diabetes there is no insulin production by beta cells of pancreas, usually due to autoimmune problem. There are anti bodies against beta cells. T2 dm is a familial disease. If both parents have diabetes then 75% of off-springs are likely to it. It is also a preventable disease. Persons with pre diabetic stage can prevent or delay developing of diabetes by adapting a healthier life style. 1) maintain normal weight, avoid central obesity (fat around abdomen), 2) adapt an active life style, exercise daily for at least 1 hour, brisk walk is ideal, 3) take a proper balanced diet, avoiding deep fried foods, junk foods, pastries, sweetened aerated drinks, high fat milk products and highly processed foods. 4) refrain from alcohol and smoking 5) maintain a bmi <23 kg /m2.8) consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads and fruits.

The reason of not gaining weight are * improper diet * indigestion (disease of stomach, loose motions) * thyroid disorder * diabetes *addiction (smoking or alcoholism) dear you can easily gain weight and get a healthy muscular body by following these best things - 1. Hye, thanks for the query. For your height your ideal weight should be 59 kgs. You cannot work on a specific body part. You have to work on overall fat loss and toning. Try to eat small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Drink a glass of lime water in the mornings to flush out your system & avoid bloating. Avoid junk as far as possible. Cutting out soda drinks, pastries, burgers is one way to quickly eliminate unnecessary calories fast. Also, refusing refined grains -- such as in white bread, pasta, pizza and baked goods -- and avoiding foods high in saturated and trans fats helps you trim calories and shrink belly fat. Choose white fish, egg whites, skinless chicken and beans, dals, low fat paneer and sprouts as examples of lean protein. Fill up on fibrous, watery vegetables; cauliflower, spinach, lettuce, peppers, green beans, pumpkin and cabbage. A small serving of whole grain roti or unpolished rice -- rounds out your meals. If you find yourself hungry between meals, resist the chips, snack mixes and energy bars. Go instead for a piece of fresh fruit, some nuts or plain yogurt. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Include exercises that tone your back and abdominal muscles too. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets and singular ab exercises or ab machines will not give you targeted results. The fats will remain as it is. It's all about overall work out and balanced diet.

Pay close attention to your food choice. ·        Eat less carbohydrate food sources like chapatti, rice, noodles, pasta, bread etc as they help in gaining weight and storing fat. ·        While having lunch or dinner eat vegetables and dal to fill your stomach rather eating lots of chapattis or rice. ·        Have a healthy breakfast like poha, idli, upma, plain dosa, oats, dalia or khichdi with vegetables. ·        Eat a balance diet including good quality proteins like: fish, lean chicken and eggs. Hye, Thanks for the query. Gaining weight requires you to eat more calories than you burn. Although fried or sugary foods are calorie dense, eating them exclusively won’t provide enough nutrition to keep you energetic and healthy. Eating several meals and snacks throughout the day and including nutritious, calorie-dense food will help you gain weight healthfully. Weight gain depends primarily on your genetics, age, weight and activity level. To gain weight, you need to eat more calories than you burn. If you’re not used to eating large quantities of food at one time, you may find it difficult to fit all of your calories into three meals per day. Eating nutritious, calorie-dense foods every two to three hours will help you get your calories in without making you overly full and sluggish. If you tend to forget to eat or are always on the go, bring calorie-dense snacks such as eggs, mixed nuts, fruits and dairy. Nutritious, calorie-dense foods provide essential vitamins and minerals, which promote good health and energy. Adding ghee and cream to foods adds additional calories for very little extra physical bulk. Fruit juice, masala milk provides crucial nutrients. Meal-replacement shakes and protein powder sound like good options but also remember that unless your diet is not planned sadly they won't help.
