Several things can be done to prevent cold: -Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. -Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. -Get plenty of rest/sleep.Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Drink plenty of fluids(veg/tomato soups, dal water/coconut water/herbal tea etc), and eat nutritious food(like sprouts/milk). Avoid fatty foods or drinks with caffeine -Treatment: A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat.Take only lukewarm water to drink during the day -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily. -Complications like infections of ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Cough- For dry cough.Take syrup Alex-D.(1 tsp thrice daily) -Productive cough:it brings up mucus from behind the throat or lungs.Use syrup Alex. -Get chest xray done if cough lasts for more than a week and consult doctor immediately -Head and Body Aches- Take tablet dolo-650 mg for fever once or twice daily

You can also make a cough syrup from baked onion juice, comfrey tea and honey. Drink it daily to get relief from a dry cough. Another option is to combine one-half teaspoon of onion juice with one teaspoon of pure honey. Swallow this solution at least twice a day to alleviate a cough and soothe your throat. this would definitely give you relief

I suffer from asthma and I used asthma inhaler so any medicine to cure this sickness. What should I do to cure this.
Home remedy.=1. Ginger: ginger has so many benefits on your heath and body. It is equally effective against asthmatic treatments. Make a juice with equal quantities of ginger, pomegranate, and honey. Consume it 2-3 times a day for effective results. Else, take one tbsp of ginger juice. Mix it up with a tbsp of honey and two tbsp of dried fenugreek seeds. Soak it overnight and consume it every morning to detoxify your lungs. 2. Soup: take a radish and blend it to obtain a juice from it. Mix it with some honey and lemon juice. Consume it as it will help in clearing up your respiratory track, which will make it easier for you to breathe.

I am 25 years old man. I have nervous cough. I cough a lot when I get excited. Please help.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
There are some short-term remedies to consider. Here are a few: breathing in a more relaxed and regulated manner can prevent a dry throat and the coughing that can result from it. Reducing your body's stress as much as possible can reduce anxiety cough relatively quickly. Working at containing your anxious thinking can reduce stress responses and your body's overall reaction to elevated stress.

Hi i am shranik age 25 male.My palms start itching amd swell suddenly sometimes in cold climate or rain or when i pick up something cold.Is it some type of allergy or what?if so how did i get it and what is the permanent cure for it.I even have asthama from birth.

MD - Consultant Physician
General Physician, Mumbai
It seems to be allergic, especially since you also have asthma. If this occurs occasionally and is not too troublesome, just leave it alone. If it occurs more often, you could apply an antiallergic cream when you get such episodes, such as Halovate ointment.

I am suffering from dry cough for the last 2 week and I have chest pain whenever I cough hard. Can you suggest what should be done?

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)

Hello- here are some excellent home remedies for dry cough that will give you instant relief 1 honey why it helps: honey is one of the oldest dry cough home remedies and also one of the commonly used components in cough syrups. It works because of its analgesic properties that eliminate the mucus and soothes your throat. Honey is effective also because it has strong anti-oxidant and anti-microbial properties, both effective for relieving sore throat. 2 turmeric why it helps: the turmeric contains curcumin, the active agent that has strong anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties. It is therefore quite effective in treating viral infections like cough and cold. 3 ginger why it helps: ginger is a natural analgesic, and that's why it's a common ingredient in cough syrups and lozenges. It helps soothe irritation and scratchiness caused by sore throat. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and leaves a cleansing effect on your respiratory system. 4 garlic why it helps: garlic has anti-microbial, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral properties, and due to its active agent called" allicin, it can be one of the most effective home remedies for dry cough. It also boosts your immune system and helps you fight with infections that cause a dry cough. 5 gargle salt water why it helps: salt water helps treat sore throat through osmosis, and it can be a good remedy for a dry cough as well. The idea works because the salt inside the cells of your mucous membranes flows out to balance the salt outside of the cells, and this will reduce swelling. 6 steam why it helps: steam loosens phlegm and mucous and helps improve your condition. You can add specific essential oils and take advantage of their anti-bacterial, anti-viral, and anti-inflammatory properties. 7 marshmallow root why it helps: thanks to its pain and inflammation relieving properties, marshmallow root can be an effective home remedy for dry cough. It also protects your mucous membrane tissue and saves it from further damage.
