Sir/Mam, What is the reason of chronic constipation and what is the solution for it?

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Sir/Mam, What is the reason of chronic constipation and what is the solution for it?
Lack of fiber in diet is the most common cause. Fiber is present in fruits and vegetables. Green leafy vegetables, oats, broccoli, chickpeas(chhole), red beans(rajma) and pumpkin are rich in fibers. Reduced water intake is another reason for chronic constipation. Increasing water intake and taking plenty of fluids in different forms will help in relieving constipation. You can take isapgol husk for a certain period of time to immediately relieve constipation. It should be taken twice a day with plenty of water to be effective. As your constipation improves shift to high fiber diet mentioned above.

I appreciate your desire to eat healthy during this stressful period. My first advice would be to not have too much Coffee or Tea to keep awake, as it will make you jittery .It is better to eat things like fresh fruits ,nuts ,snacks like sandwiches, dhokla, oats upma, veg roll, egg preparations, Idlis, etc instead. These would provide you the required energy and keep you alert, awake, focussed. Secondly, Eating small and frequent meals rather than 3 big meals will keep you awake, alert and will improve concentration. Lastly, Protein rich foods have a positive impact on Mental Acuity or sharpness. Include more fish, berries, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, etc in the diet during exams. You can consult me directly through Lybrate Private Consult if interested in a customized diet plan. Good luck for your exams.

No harmful effects of storing ESIFLO. It's not addictive however levolin is only a reliever drug. It will work only in the emergency phase and for 2-3 hours at the most. If you want to be better and symptom free than ESIFLO would be the correct drug. However you can see a chest physician to discuss.

At any age a skin ailment is definitely a stressful condition and the thought of whether it will be cured will no doubt linger in your mind. But you need to understand that stress is one of the major causes of almost all physical ailments. Since you are already taking medication for the same, you should place your faith in your doctor and starts to work on enhancing your self confidence through working on your strength areas. Nothing is permanent, if you are determined you can always build a bright future for yourself.

Tablets are OK and your level is not dangerous. Values of less than 200 pg/mL are a possible sign of a vitamin B12 deficiency. Older adults with vitamin B12 levels between 200 and 500 pg/mL may also have symptoms. Deficiency should be confirmed by checking the level of a substance in the blood called methylmalonic acid. The most accurate way to measure how much vitamin D is in your body is the 25-hydroxy vitamin D blood test. A level of 20 nanograms/milliliter to 50 ng/mL is considered adequate for healthy people. A level less than 12 ng/mL indicates vitamin D deficiency.

If any one,or both parents or siblings have Diabetes, you may have to be guarded and extra cautious. Sedentary life style , obesity are additional factors. Proper life style like reducing weight, eating less, avoiding junk food and regular daily exercise are precautions. Excess thirst, excess appetite , loss of weight , weakness, excess thirst, delayed wound healing are some of the complaints. Half the diabetics may not have any complaints and may be detected accidentally. Hence get blood sugar tested under supervision of doctor for above complaints or once a year, even with no problem
