Hello, I hope anybody will help me by answering my question. My lower jaw is forward than my upper jaw. Actually what is the solution? Now I am 22 years old. And my lower jaw is not too far from upper jaw. But the difference can be seen by looking side of my face. Thanks.

Hi. There is a surgery for patients like you who have lower jaw outward as compared to the upper jaw. This is known as mandibular prognathism and it basically runs in families. A surgery known as Mandibular Ostectomy will be done for you and the results are remarkable. Please consult an Oral Surgeon.

I've been smoking cigarettes for 4 to 5 years and from last 7-8 days my right sight of tongue is bitter I can still feel taste of everything but I feel bitterness in my right side of tongue.

MBBS, DPM
Psychiatrist, Bangalore
Dear lybrate-user, This bitterness may not be anything serious. But if you stop smoking, you will get a lot of health benefit. You have started smoking for 4 -5 years only. It is easier to stop smoking early than later. Please motivate yourself to quit smoking at the earliest. All the best.

I am 20 year old boy. I have problem with my joint point in my mouth. Whenever I try to open my mouth it sounds a clicking. So what can I do for this problem?

BDS
Dentist, Kolar
Minor clicking sounds r common with many individuals. You need to visit an oral n maxillofacial surgeon to get your joint evaluated to know if your degree of clicking is a matter of concern. Meanwhile avoid opening your mouth too much n also control your mouth opening while yawning n support your lower jaws with your palms. Take care.

Good dental hygiene with proper brushing and flossing every day. Avoid sugar and refined carbohydrates. The diet recommended in grow youthful is perfect for dental health and the promotion of good bacteria in your mouth. Professional dental cleaning using special instruments to remove plaque/calculus/tartar below the gum line. It usually takes about three to four months for microbial plaque to grow back to pre-cleaning levels, but good dental hygiene and diet can markedly slow or prevent the recurrence of these bacteria and plaque. After the initial cleaning a second appointment two months later will show if improved dental hygiene and diet are effective. If there are any gum pockets with a depth greater than 5 mm which persist, these may need more specialised cleaning or even surgery, or they will likely lead to further bone loss over time. Mouthwash (sodium bicarbonate, hydrogen peroxide). I do not recommend commercial mouthwashes because they contain synthetic chemicals that are absorbed through your mouth and are probably toxic, and may prevent the formation of a healthy bacterial biome in your mouth.

Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening treatment. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

I have a lot of pain in tooth what should I do to prevent it give me the solution.

BDS
Dentist, Noida
I have a lot of pain in tooth what should I do to prevent it give me the solution.
Pain in teeth can be caused by many things like it can b due to-- 1-dental cavities which are deep enough to expose pulp (nerve) causing its irritation leading to pain and infection, 2- gum problems 3- any trauma to tooth 4- pain due to tmjoint. For better diagnosis and treatment plan visit a dentist for full clinical examination along with xrays. (as without seeing I cannot suggest you proper treatment).
