Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

I am 50 yrs female having knee pain since 2 yrs and orthroscopy done last yr. Due to severe pain took inj synvisc one today what tobe done next.

This could be due to oa knee &/or obesity. Physiotherapy along with medicines will help. Do knee exercises. It may have to be further investigated rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with a soft bedding on it. Any way take multivitamins & other antioxidants along with. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. I have pain in my lower back 2 inches left to backbone, feels sharp pain like needle stings not severe yet bearable. Cause is prolonged sitting on chair in front of PC at work. If I spend day with walking and less sitting then it is normal. As I sit on chair pain starts and keep on increasing. I got x ray but it was normal. Should I take tablets like neuroprene, calcium with regular exercise to strength en my muscles. Regards gagan.

Hi Your problem is one related to posture issues. Generally prolonged sitting in one position creates tiredness and sometimes spasms of that group of muscles resulting in discomfort and many times severe pain. Following measures should be taken:- 1. Don't sit continuously for more than one hour. Take a short break and walk as it will help the muscles relax. 2. Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes focusing 10 minutes specifically for back muscles. 3. Meditate daily preferably in an open area as it will help you relax in general and the fresh oxygen will help the muscles to get rid of lactic acid produced which causes tiredness. 4. Sit straight and always take back support. Don't lean towards sides as it causes extra strain on a particular group of muscles. Your problem is exactly because of this. Taking supplements might help but not for long as in your age considering your height and weight you seems to be fit. 5. For immediate solution take Rhus. tox. 30 thrice daily for two days. If the pain still persist after medicine then feel free to contact through Lybrate.

I am 38 years old women I have back pain and leg pain for last three months what should I do?

Hi if you have localized back pain with - no neurological symptoms like numbness, paresthesia, weakness in limbs etc, my advice is: - intensive physical therapy initially under supervision of a physiotherapist and then at home. - avoid forward bending, lifting heavy weights etc - take an analgesic like diclofenac or something which suits your body for 5-7 days - take muscle relaxant for same time as analgesic to relieve muscle spasm - ice packs at the site of pain, muscle spasm - local analgesic spray can be used but no massage is required let me know how you are feeling. I will actually ask you to get x ray of involved region of spine (ap & lateral) and send reports across to me so that I can advise further in a better manner. When I got up today! I found than one of my fingers can't be folded. I used certain oils and rubbed my finger with it. But it is of no use. I am so happy that I found this website. What should I do to get a relief?

Dear user, if fingers are not folded it may be hand or legs, apply heat fermentatio and do some finger folding excercise for few weeks. You can see the difference I 7 days.

Hii. Need more information like from when do you have this. It can be of various reasons. Uneven growth, cartilage defect etc. An orthopedician can tell the exact cause. However you can also go with certain hip and knee strengthening exercises to prevent further problems. You can contact a physiotherapist for exercises.

I have done ACL reconstruction surgery before 2 month ago. All is OK. Physio therapy running last 46 days regularly. My queioution how many time I would continue physiotherapy.

If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - To maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - If pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - Physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - Adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - Ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - Analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - Avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. I am affected by Rheumatoid Arthritis prominently from the year 2008. I tried Patanjali medicine for few days but due to no relief from severe pain I soon had gone to allopath Rheumatologist doctor of Kolkata and started treatment since 2009. Normally treatment done with HCQS 400 / 200, Methotrexate 7.5 / 10 and Folic acid 5. Now first one medicine is eliminated, last two are being continued. Though now I am quite well under medication and working well, but need your consultation for future.

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

As prr recent discussion, knee pain only comes suddenly when I walk. No knees pain during sitting in office. Hamstring pain is there in left leg while sitting. Also back pain sometimes comes and automatically gone away if I do some exercise. Also I have started cycling to remove knee pain. Please suggest.

According age x-ray must. Use soft pillow for back support. Posture correction must avoid long sitting do hot fermentation and stretching exercise if it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment.
