9 Powerful Home Remedies for Winter Sinus That Work Fast!
9 Home Remedies for Sinus

Nose incorporates an intricate system of narrow passages and hollow, air containing spaces connecting to eyes and ears that enable us to inhale the air before it reaches our lungs. And the problem of sinus is directly linked with the nose. Basically, Sinus is a cavity within bones of face connected with nasal cavities and the main cause of sinus is allergies. But internally our nose has to suffer a lot when this problem occurs. But there are few tips that can be of great help during sinus. Let’s see them one-by-one

1. Drink plenty of water: While you are suffering from sinus, you must keep drinking water at short intervals because this won’t let the sinus get dry which is very essential for the treatment of sinus. Prefer taking lukewarm water.

2. Oregano oil: Adding few drops of oregano oil in water and having it 2-3 times a day for a week will provide relief when suffering from sinus and it will also make recovery faster.

3. Eat vitamin C: Eat citrus fruits which are rich in Vitamin C. Although some people avoid it thinking that it will aggravate the sinus problem but taking Vitamin C is helpful in sinus problem.

4. Fruit juice intake: Taking fruits juices also helps in thinning out mucus and preventing sinuses from blocking.

5. Warm compressor on face: Keeping warm compressor on your face will give relief from discomfort and will open blocked nasal passages.

6. Keep your head propped up while sleeping: Sleeping on a couple of pillows will be a good idea as it will help in proper breathing.

7. Spicy food intake: Taking too many spices is never a good idea but taking it in limits can actually solve many problems and one of them is clearance of sinus. Spices like mustard, hot pepper, curry and horseradish etc. helps in clearing sinus. It opens your nasal passages.

8. Hygiene: Hygiene is the first and foremost thing to be kept in mind when this problem occurs.

9. Humidifier: Keeping humidifiers in your room also helps in providing relief during sinus.

Hi, History of tb with reactive cervical lymphadenitis @age of 9 yrs-completed full ATT that time. Chicken pox preceded by URTI 2 months ago-cervical lymph nodes just below ear between mastoid and mandible angle groove were enlarged at that time. Completed 5 days valacyclovir 1 gm TDS and cefixime 200 BD. LN were almost same size for a week. Then I stopped palpating. 40 days after this-i felt LN small grape sized bilaterally at same site. Which enlarged to 2 cm diameter at present (60 days after chickenpox). NO SYMPTOMS/NO PAIN/NO FATIGUE/NO FEVER. Usg LN showed no necrosis &size 1.88 cm×0.68 cm As per Lybrate Consultation-its not TB as no symptoms, not cancer bcoz acute presentation: Started these before 5 days=AMOXYCLAV625BD & diclofenac50+pcm 325+serratiopeptidase 10 BD for 3 days. I actually CHEWED tablets. So enteric coating damage may have resulted ineffective treatment. What to do? Maybe I am exposed to TB be I work in government hospital. Is it possible that delayed RE-ENLARGEMENT after chickenpox. Afraid of painful fnac. Will cbc/esr/crp diagnose/rule out tb and find the cause?

Dear lybrateuser, -your breathing problem could be due to lung problem or due to heart problem if there is no other accompanying symptom -get x- ray chest, pft (pulmonary function test), ecg tmt done to know the exact cause -the pain & nauseating feeling could be due to acidity -take your meals on time, do not miss meals, avoid spicy, fried & junk food, eat dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime, do not lye down immediately after meals -have 7-8 glasses of water to flush out the toxins & for proper digestion.

the blood tinged sputum can be a cause for worry. it can be due to many reasons- infection, acidity, lung problem etc. you would need a proper evaluation so that diagnosis can be made and treatment can be started. feel free to consult if you would need my assistance.

I am suffering from chronic cough for last 2 years. I have gone through clinic tests and it seems the cough is driven by some of the allergies. I have taken anti allergic medicines recommended by the doctor but no relief as of now.

MBBS
General Physician, Cuttack
Do a complete blood examination like CBC, ESR, Mantoux test, X ray chest, Sputum examination for AFB. Consult Chest physician with report. Do warm saline gurgling 3-4 times daily, Avoid smoking if you smoke. Consult Pulmonologist for further advice. If all investigations are normal, do an allergy test after consulting Allergist/Immunologist and follow the advice and treatment.
