Hello, both of you are required to go under these tests. 1. A sperm test sperm test (semen analysis) of the male partner. 2. A blood test to check that ovulation occurs in the female partner. This measures the hormone progesterone which is high just after ovulation. The blood sample is taken on the 21st day of a regular 28-day cycle (counting day one as the first day of bleeding). some other tests, depending on any other symptoms that you may have. For example, whether the female partner has regular periods or not, etc. Revert with reports.

Yeas, you must avoid dairy product specially milk and as curd is also one of dairy product you should avoid it for better and effective treatment .Yoga can play important role in the prevention and management of polycystic ovarian syndrome. Since stress is playing important factor in exaggerating pcos, so yoga therapy is effective in pcos. Yoga poses such as asanas, relaxation exercises, pranayama and meditation are effective as stress buster. Yoga poses like asanas help to stretch the pelvic area and pranayama as well as meditation soothe the mind. Exercise is really beneficial to managing our PCOS as it helps to manage insulin levels which in turn improves our testosterone and SHBG levels. Exercise as much as your capacity and consistencydont follow someone blindly. You can do cardio exercise, strenght training exercise and walking and all as per schedule with gym and as per your body capacity. Do not frustrate even if that exercise do not show any change in weighning machine, it will surely improve you from internally. So exercise gradually, until you reach your peak point and continue that.

Hello- There is a slight change in the periods cycle due to several factors like, fasting, fever, constipation, over exertion, lack of sleep etc. So better wait for a week more and if still periods are delayed then go for a urine pregnancy test at home on 3rd of January (before this it will not come positive) for pregnancy confirmation.

Hi lybrate user, you can use contraceptive pills or condom. But pills will be better option. As condom has high failure rate as compared to pill

Physical illness and mental illness
Two kinds of ailments are there. Physical illness and mental illness. Physical illness may give you mental illness and vice versa. So in order to keep urself strong, meditate daily. Find a place inside where there's joy, and the joy will burn out the pain. Don't let your thoughts be the cause of your illness.

My wife had an ectopic gestation because of which one fallopian tube had to be cut. What all precautions need to taken to prevent future ectopic pregnancy?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
My wife had an ectopic gestation because of which one fallopian tube had to be cut. What all precautions need to take...
Every pregnancy begins at fertilisation which happens in fallopian tubes (ft), after fertilisation the ba of cells goes to the uterine cavity and stays there for 8m. So after ectopic when one tube is removed, the chances of ectopic happenning in 2nd tube are high but its not the fonality of all pregnancies. If the fertilised egg makes it to the uterine cavity you can skip having tubal pregnancy but whether this will happen or not will be decided when next fertilisation happens in the remaining tube. You can seek help of local gynec to asses your case. The gynec may ask for hsg to find out patency in remaoning tube. If patent, and caliber is good ectopic may not happen. But if caliber is small ectopic may occur again the only way to avoid it is by doing ivf (test tube baby)

My wife is 35 year old. Gap between me and her is 7 years. Is it possible of pregnancy?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Females can get pregnant till the age of 40 years without any treatment. Age should not be the issue here, but if you do not get pregnancy in 6 months of marriage, you should seek treatment for getting pregnant. Normally we ask for 1 year of regular sex to get pregnant. For your case because of wife's age, you should seek treatment after 6 months.

All About Taking Care Of Your Tongue

All About Taking Care Of Your Tongue

Your tongue not only helps you in tasting, kissing, chewing or talking, but also helps in maintaining good oral health and hygiene. Since your tongue is exposed to a lot of bacteria and acid while you eat, taking proper care of it is of utmost importance. Not doing so can lead to the development of a whitish layer over your tongue, along with giving rise to bad breath. Not only that, an excess of bacteria on your tongue is harmful for your teeth and can cause tooth decay.

When you clean your tongue properly, you enhance your sense of taste and bid adieu to a host of oral health problems. Here are some handy tips on taking care of your tongue:

  1. Cleaning your tongue every time you brush with a tongue cleaner can put an end to bacteria growth in your mouth. Make sure to use either a tongue cleaner or a toothbrush with a dedicated tongue cleaner to clean your tongue. Also, clean your tongue in a downward motion to expel all the accumulated bacteria, and never apply a lot of pressure when doing so.
  2. Apply a thin layer of your toothpaste on your tongue before cleaning it. This makes removing bacteria from your tongue that much easier.
  3. After every time you're done cleaning your tongue, rinse your mouth thoroughly with water. Also, make sure to use a mouthwash once in a while, as that keeps foul odour at bay. Although, using a mouthwash daily is not advised as it can cause dryness in the mouth.
  4. A saline water solution to rinse your mouth can keep your tongue clean. All you need is a glass of lukewarm water with half a teaspoon of salt for this.
  5. Drinking green tea is particularly good for your tongue as it reduces the bacteria in your mouth to a great extent, preventing various oral health problems as a result.
  6. Foods that are high on natural or added colours (such as berries, black grapes or orange ice popsicles) should be avoided as they leave a thin layer of color behind on your tongue, which can mar its appearance.
  7. Sometimes, a whitish layer on your tongue can be a sign of a fungal infection, in which case you should go for a professional clean-up.
  8. Drinking lots of water is good for your tongue as it helps in washing out all the accumulated food and bacteria. Also, discoloration of the tongue can often be caused by dehydration, which is why drinking adequate amounts of water that is 10-12 glasses a day is vital.

I have a problem with my left breast .its paining so much for few days.. The pain extends to my arms and my center back. I can't sleep very well .what is the problem .can you help me.

There are a number of things that you can try to ease the pain. Wear a soft bra at night. Avoid jogging, aerobics or other high-impact exercises. Make sure your bra fits correctly – get properly measured by a specialist fitter (most department stores have one). If you are taking any hormones, such as the oral contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy (HRT), consider stopping them for a while to see if the breast pain lessens. Breast pain seems to be common in women who have recently started HRT. Try a low-fat diet. There is some evidence that high levels of saturated fats in the blood make the breasts more sensitive to hormone levels, so it may be worth changing your diet. Avoid fatty meat, cheese, full-fat milk, cream, butter and anything made of pastry. Instead eat oily fish, such as herring and mackerel, twice a week. Fill up with carbohydrates (bread, potatoes, rice, pasta), fresh fruit and vegetables.

Hello, PCOS or pcod s a problem in which a woman's hormones are out of balance. It can cause problems with your periods and make it difficult to get pregnant. PCOS also may cause unwanted changes in the way you look. If it isn't treated, over time it can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease. The most common symptoms are: Acne.Weight gain and trouble losing weight.Extra hair on the face and body.Thinning hair or even hair loss on scalp.Irregular periods. Often women with PCOS have fewer than nine periods a year. Some women have no periods. Others have very heavy bleeding.Fertility problems. Many women who have PCOS have trouble getting pregnant(infertility), depression. Regular exercise, healthy foods, and weight control are the key treatments for PCOS. Treatment (hormonal) can reduce unpleasant symptoms and help prevent long-term health problems. Try to fit in moderate activity and/or vigorous activity often. Brisk Walking, jogging, dance or aerobics are great exercise that most people can do.Eat heart-healthy foods. This includes lots of vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and whole grains. It limits foods that are high insaturated fat, such as meats, cheeses, and fried foods. Most women who have PCOS can benefit from losing weight. Even losing 5kg may help get your hormones in balance, regulate your menstrual cycle and can make you ovulate.
