Mr. Lybrate-user, according to your information he is on 100 mcg of thyroxine and now the tsh value is 129.4 is that correct? what are the symptoms he has related to hypothyroidism? because with such high tsh he may be having a lot discomfort. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. TSH values should be tested always after a gap of 6 to 8 weeks. Testing with in 15 days has no real meaning. TSH >10 mU/L, means confirmed hypothyroidism, which needs treatment. At lower values (5 to 9.9 mU/L) it is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism and no treatment is advocated. But if the patient has any troublesome symptoms related to hypothyroidism then treatment needs to be given. Please tell me why were the tests done? Thanks.

Hello, Diabetes can be kept in good control by following means: 1) Taking appropriate medication as advised and without missing a dose. 2) Taking a restricted diet, that gives exact calories based on ideal body weight, extent of daily exercise. 3) Avoiding sweets, junk foods, deep fried foods, pastries and bakery items, sweetened aerated drinks (colas), fructose corn syrup containing products 4) Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits (100 g a day). There are various drugs available to control blood glucose, selection of a drug depends on various factors. Thanks.

Your post prandial sugar raised to a high level, you should check HbA1c levels and can start with Tab. METFORMIN 500MG once a day in between breakfast. For diet you take rice in less amount and substitue with Roti and other vegitables also. Check the difference in 2 weeks by doing Fasting and PPBS and consult again.

Mr Priyanshu, With such high sugar levels he should start treatment with Insulin injection and one of the oral antidiabeteic drug. Once sugar levels are brought under proper control then he can be stabilised only on oral drugs. In addition exercise and restricted diet also are to be part of the treatment.

Hi lybrate-user tips for weight loss eat fresh vegetables daily. Avoid having sugar completely. Eat whole wheat bread instead of white bread; avoid everything made from white flour and make whole wheat bread, chapattis and brown rice a way of life. Do not skip a meal and eat three meals a day. Drink plenty of water to eliminate the toxins from the system. Limit your fat intake to 2-3 teaspoons a day. Increase the fiber intake as it provides a sense of fullness and also prevents hunger pangs. Take antioxidants for protecting the body against the toxins released during weight loss. Exercise catalyzes your efforts to lose weight and even regular walking for thirty minutes can give you the benefits of an aerobics exercise. To improve the metabolism, try increasing the duration, frequency, intensity of your daily workout. Remember that maintaining the ideal weight is a lifetime commitment and not a short-term affair. Firmly believe that the pleasure of being trim and healthy is far better than the pleasure of eating unwisely.

There is no improvement may mean that your blood sugars are not under control. Abdominal upset may direct restriction in the use of metformin. Please AVOID HONEY . Your Complete examination is required before starting of medicines. Continue blood thinners and anti cholesterol tablets. Get a Diabetologist consultation as early as possible

Mr. lybrate-user Singh, Thanks for the query. Lemon water seem to help in reducing uric acid level as it helps dissolve the uric acid crystals. So lemon water is taken to prevent a gout attack. It appears to be beneficial. Thanks.
