1. Take good nourishing diet, plenty of green leafy vegetables, cauli flower, spinach, bean, carrot, mushroom, onion, garlic, fruits like blue berry, banana, pomegranate, dry fruits like walnnut, almonds soybean oil, egg, fish sardines/salmon, darkchocolate, oats, cereals, 2. Drink plenty of water, pomegranate juice, green tea 2-3 cups /day without sugar/ milk (contains anti oxidant like flavonoid and helps in improving sperm quality, but in high doses may affect sperm quality. 3go for regular exercise, reduce your weight if over weight 4. Stop smoking, tobacco and alcohol consumption 5. Avoid stress, anxiety, physical and mental exertion. Take adequate rest 6. Do yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise to calm your mind, control your emotion and relieve stress 7. Check for blood testosterone and if it is less, you have to take testosterone supplement. 8. Consult sexologist for further advice.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. MASTURBATION is normal, natural and never unhealthy. Even animals do masturbate. As a human being, you are also an animal. Every animal has sexual instinct because they are designed to reproduce. Human being also has sexual instinct and therefore he needs to satisfy sexual instinct. Therefore, to satisfy sexual instinct, a man or woman, masturbates. In any case, masturbation is never unhealthy or will never affect your physical or sexual health or it cannot affect your future sex life and the ability to have children. Masturbation cannot affect your growth or cause pimples or cause hair fall or cause shrinkage of penis or loss of vital nutrients or cause problems in testis size or colour etc. Masturbation cannot increase your belly fat or cause obesity. You should try to reduce the masturbation frequency to thrice a week and continue masturbation. You can be sure; there are no side effects to masturbation if you are able to restrict it to thrice a week. Jogging and physical exercise are always good to keep you fit and stop worrying about sex and allied thinking. I suggest online sex counseling and therapy. Take care.

Hello, Its not a good idea to use unwanted 72 for contraception after marriage as it is very hard and fast acting abortive pill which harm your uterus in a very bad way. You can use I pill daily, instead of unwanted 72. Use I pill daily for 21 days after the end of your period. You will have a hundred percent contraception the whole month.

Hi, I have blood pressure (detected 3 years ago), I also have mild chest pain on different side of chest. Nothing to worry. If pain perssists just get Treadmill Test done. Also you can get a 2D Echocardigram done to rule out any Structural Valve problem. If both the tests are normal nothing to worry. Also exercise to reduce weight ic you have BMI >24. You can have low fat diet and low carb diet. Hope this answers your concern. Have a healthy day.

You might be having urinary tract infection. Burning sensation can also be due to dehydration. If you have been drinking water normally then it is likely to be UTI. Get urine analysis, total count, serum creatinine and serum electrolytes done and consult. Or you can go to a nephrologist or any general physician.

Premature ejaculation is called when you ejaculate within one minute. This is because you are not able to control your excietment and by the time you reach your partner your peak is near. As you enter and there you get discharged. My advice is learn 1). Desensitizing technique - inthis learn not to get overexcieted when you are with your parner. Spend time on foreplay keeping your mind to something that is nonsexual. In this way you will control your excietment and when about 10 minutes have passed then concentrate on the act and as you get charged then do the intercourse. 2) start and stop technique - when you pass urine, do not pass it in one go. Start urination and stop. Repeat this a no of times til you are done. Do it weach time and that will help in long way. 30 kegel exercises - constrict your anal sphinter (opening) and hold it as long as you can control and release when it is over. Repeat this also 50-100 times daily for better control. 4) go for brisk wlaking daily in morning and eat fresh fruits and vegetables. All these will help you along with medicines to learn to do better sex. Relax. You will learn. If anything else can ask me.

Happy Fasting and Healthy Feasting this Navratra!

Navratras are celebrated to worship the divine mother through meditation, prayers and chanting. It is not just a religious practice, but a spiritual one too. It coincides, twice a year, with the changing seasons and is a process of rejuvenating our body and mind. This reflects in the foods that are supposed to be consumed during Navratri fasting. Why is that we fast and that certain foods are shunned during the festival while some are encouraged and embraced wholeheartedly? Here we try to deconstruct some aspects related to food and fasting during the festival.

Fasting is an integral part of Navratri, which helps to cleanse our body and rekindle the digestive fires. It gives our digestive system the much-needed rest from the constant overloaded eating habits. We can use this as an opportunity to detoxify our body and break away from the regular dietary pattern.

Traditionally, Navratri foods are wholesome and high on nutrition. Kuttu (buckwheat), which we have been having for ages is being hailed as the new superfood! Along with kuttu, sabudana (tapioca pearls), singhada (water chestnut) and amaranth (rajgiri) are widely used and help bridge the gap created by the absence of wheat and rice. Most of the navratri flours are packed with proteins, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which makes them an ideal substitute for heavy gluten rich grains.

Focus during Navratri should be on foods that are nutrient rich, but still light on our stomach, in keeping with saatvic (pure, simple and fresh) principles. Thus, fruits, juices, dairy products and their preparations are stressed upon. However, when we consume food during this period, we tend to overindulge. We have distorted the cooking techniques such that we load ourselves with fried, high fat foods. This, instead of making our body feel light, tends to bloat it up.

We has put together these simple techniques that one may follow this Navratri, to make the best out of fasting foods:

  1. Cooking technique: The key to unlocking the nutritional value of food is to cook right- instead of making the usual fried paranthas and pooris, try and make rotis, Kuttu dosas, chilla or pancakes. One can have them with the nourishing Kuttu ki Kadhi. Let’s get innovative and try something new! 
  2. Healthy Snacking: One can easily replace fried chips and namkeens with makhanas that can be roasted at home and seasoned with rock salt, black pepper, chili flakes, etc. to one’s liking. We can also help ourselves to baked potatoes, instead of fried ones. We have also put together a Navratra salad for healthy snacking. To satiate our need for a dessert during fasting try making the pumpkin kheer. These are the small changes that could go a long way to achieving the desired result of cleansing our bodies.
  3. Keep Hydrated: Kuttu and amaranth being rich in protein need good amount of water for proper digestion. Therefore, it is imperative that we increase our liquid intake for proper elimination of toxins during the process of cleansing. Fruits like water melons, melon, grapes, pomegranates or oranges have high water content. So, try to add 3 different colours of fruits, through the day, to keep you hydrated. Fresh coconut water will also help to keep the ions in balance make us feel light. We also suggest making the bottle gourd punch.
  4. Conscious Fasting: Navratri not being a rigid fast, people tend to follow it differently. The fast could be only on fruits, liquids, once a day grain or varied. We should take into account our health and lifestyle while deciding on the type/ form of fasting. Special care should be taken by people with health issues like diabetes, hypertension and conditions like pregnancy and lactation.

So, hopefully, armed with the science behind Navratri foods, you would be making better informed choices. This Navratri let us leave the unhealthy cooking habits behind and ensure that food that we eat is tasty and healthy too. Happy Fasting and Healthy Feasting!

I have a problem since many years . I am 24 now . As soon as I eat some food I have to go to the bathroom unload it . I feel like all the nutritious food I am eating was not absorbed by my body . Hello doctor. I am a 29 year old male from India. I need help. I am suffering from stomach related issues from last 5 - 6 years. Initially in 2007 or 2008, I used to be allergic to certain food. I used to get rashes on skin on eating certain spicy food. If I take atarax tablet it used to solve the problem so was not concerned much and later it went off on its own. But in 2012 I started having acid reflux or gerd kind of symptoms. After taking medicines which doctor had given for gerd it used to get solved then again re appear some time. I do not want this to create other problems in future. I took ayurvedic medicines for close to an year but it did not help much Below are the symptoms that I get at least once in 2 months and I will have a downtime of a week or so. Acidic burps, bloating, slight stomach pain, Constant nausea feeling, Feels very sleepy and tired after eating food, lot of burps. I get acidity after eating certain foods like egg, Split Black Gram, chocolates, oranges. Also, I had a left inguinal hernia surgery in 2008. Not sure if that is anyway related. I want a permanent solution for these symptoms since it keeps bothering me with my plans or ambitions in life. Although I do not get these symptoms always but once in few days I get.
