Hi. What's the power of both the eyes? Include the following for getting better vision: Vitamins A, C, E, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. DHA is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing rather reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Get your refraction done and wear spectacles Eat green veggies. Carrots. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. If needed wear corrective spectacles. These are few things you can take care of. Otherwise as such no options available which can increase your eyesight.

DNB Ophtalmology, MS - Ophthalmology, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Headache can be a result of an eye disease like glaucoma or uveitis- inflammation of internal eye tissues. Sometimes it is allergic sinusitis which causes headache and reactionary redness of eye. Also a headache can cause some amount of redness. It will be wise to go for an eye checkup once.

Inability to see clear at this age is commonly due spectacle power. Visit nearest eye doctor to get that checked.

I am 20 year old male. Within 3 months of my joining as a software engineer mt eye sight increased by 0. 5. Doctor advised me to take arc glasses. My question is: should I move to crizal glasses for better results or is it waste of money. As I work on system for hours, please suggest me tips to maintain my eye-sight like what should be the brightness level thankyou

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
These glasses are too costly to be used. What if your number changes after few months; these will become useless. Better is go for lightweight glasses with additional features that will help you otherwise (like anti glare coating(for computer screens), photochromic glasses(for bright light prevention)).

Dear lybrate user, red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power

Sir my spex no. Is 1.75 and 2.0 ma lasik karvana chata hu iski cost kya hogi or kya lasi hona kya bad ma army job medical ma doctors ko pata lag jata ha ki is person na lasik karva rakha ha.

MBBS, DOMS, MS - Ophthalmology, , Fellowship in phacoemusification
Ophthalmologist, Patna
Even after lasik ,it is very easy to know for doctor whether you have gone for lasik or not. LASIK is refractive surgery to correct myopia ,hypermetropia & astigmatism, refractive surgery also include intraocular ocular lens procedure. For LASIK your eyes must be healthy, if you have persistent dry eyes, LASIK surgery may aggravate this condition resulting in burning sensation & blurring of vision after LASIK.   For LASIK cornea must  have sufficient thickness because in reshaping of cornea, you loose the thickness of cornea & if your cornea is too ,you are not  fit case for LASIK.  -1Dof myopic correction consumes  35 micron of corneal thicknes. Average thickness of cornea in Indian is 450 micron to 500 micron& after LASIK there  should be around 300 micron thickness of cornea for safety of eye in future. Pupils are usually large in myopic people who undergo LASIK  operation resulting in side effects such as halos, glares especially in those who drive in night. LASIK for the treatment of high retractive errors are less predictable, because very high amount of myopia could require removal of too much corneal tissue putting at increased risk of Vision complications. LASIK should not be undertaken before 21 years in male & 19 years in female because myopic power increases by that age. You must have stable power before LASIK. There is no upper age limit but one should keep in mind that once you are 40 years old, you may still need reading  glass due to presbyopia changing every two years till you develop cataract in old age. Contraindications for LASIK -degenerative disease, Sjogren syndrome, type one diabetes etc. People who are taking immunosuppressive drugs, must think ten times before undergoing for LASIK surgery. One must go LASIK screening before taking decision for LASIK. One undergoes for LASIK should be fully aware of  potential LASIK complications & should not hide anything from operating surgeon about health.

I am 60 years old and doing my profession, from last month I am facing some black thing moving on my right eye what should I do, is it motia or any thing else

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
Does it comes and go in front of your eyes or is it constantly in front of vision all the time? it likely seems to be floaters(according to your description as it is moving). Floaters can be due to vitreous degeneration or retinal pathology. It first to be examined to confirm the diagnosis and then managed accordingly.

I am 32 years old, I have problem of severe swelling and reddishness of eyes even if I look mobile for few minutes, at before it persisted for some hours and I intimately decreased the time because of my problem, now I prevented completely to stare but problem doesn't exhale me, what I should do now.

MBBS, DOMS
Ophthalmologist, Hyderabad
Make sure you are reading in adequate light, correct distance (about 40 cm for reading books or mobile, 60 to 70 cm for computers), etc. Simple red eyes usually clear by themselves. Home remedies such as washing with plain cold water, applying cold packs to closed eyes, taking a short period of rest, usually helps. If you are studying hard/sleeping inadequately, travelled excessively, have cold or cough - take care of these events as much as possible, it will help. General care includes eating a well balanced diet, sleeping adequately, etc. Give good rest to the eyes, take frequent short breaks during near work. If no response after these measures, make sure if you are using any eye glasses, that the glasses you are wearing are correct, by consulting an ophthalmlogist.
