Sir im a TB patient I am completed 6 months treatment im feeling very weak.in future it is possible to attack TB on mee? And sometimes im getting chest pain also. What is the reason.

MBBS
General Physician, Trivandrum
There could be chances of tb relapse if you are affected with multi drug resistant tb. You should have regular checkups. Dry cough and chest pain can be due to upper respiratory infection, lower respiratory infection, allergies or even gastro esophageal reflux disease. We need to find out the correct cause for your symptoms and treat accordingly. Take care.

I am 44 years young male. How to stop snoring or reduce? Please advice. Thank you.

MS , MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Snoring is a condition where the muscles of the throat including the soft palate become flaccid and come in the way of breathing and produce the sound. Obstruction could be at different places from nose to the space behind the tongue. Including dns, at the level of the soft palate and behind the tongue because of bulky tongue base. Each of the above have to be addressed. Above all a good health and keeping body fit by good amount of physical activity would tone up the resting muscle tone and prevent snoring.

My age is 42. I have a bp 90 and 140 from last five years. Some doctor says it is ok and some says it is on the higher side. I took many precautions to make it down as I walk 30-40 min daily. I drink maximum fluids. I avoid salt. But still it remains the same. Is it harmful. Pls suggest how I can take it down if it is high. Thanks.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. Lybrate-user, ideally bp should be systolic 120 to 130 (when heart is contracting), diastolic 60 to 80 mm hg, (when heart is relaxing. At your age it good to have bp as 130 / 80.131 to 139 and 81 to 89 is considered as prehypertension. So you will have to see that it is closer to 130 / 80 mm hg. One of the most important aspect is to reduce salt intake to just about 3 g a day. Avoid processed foods, deep fried foods and high fat foods.

I have plies problem and swellings in anus outside. Sometimes blood in toilet. I have take so many medicine then blood are stop but swelling issue in still. May need an operation otherwise medicine remove them the swelling. Pls help me what I do.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
If you are having piles and bleeding, it may be due to constipation or damage of anal mucosa due to hard stools. I would suggest you sitz bath: take hot water in a tub and add betadine solution, cover your anal area and sit for 15-20 minutes twice a day if possible thrice a day. It will reduce bleeding and helpful for healing. Wash the anal area with mild soap, pat dry and apply the lignocaine jelly after bowel movement and at bedtime. Liquid cremaffin plus 2 tsp twice a day. You should prevent constipation by eating healthy food, which contains fiber. Avoid spicy, fatty, heavy meals and meat. Avoid smoking if you smoke. If your symptoms persist, I would suggest you visit a general surgeon for clinical and physical examination to know about degree of hemorrhoids. Treatment (medical or surgical) can be decided by surgeon. Hope I have answered your query. If you have any queries, I will be happy to help you. Thank you.

Dear user. I can understand. Vagina is a storehouse of many germs which could cause many diseases. You should understand that vagina cannot be cleaned completely. Therefore it is not advised to lick or suck vagina. Though you can always do that if you can ensure that it is perfectly clean and hygienic. Take care.

Plz suggest me a good diet for winter season included all breakfast, lunch & dinner.

M. Sc. Foods, Nutrition & Dietetics, B.Sc-Home Science
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Visakhapatnam
A healthy diet should include a wide variety of nutritious foods for sufficient intake of all nutrients, including vitamins and minerals. Foods to include are breads, pastas, lean meats, fish, fruits and vegetables. A healthy diet can help you maintain a healthy body weight and decrease your risk of many diet-related chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and some cancers. In general, we should include a range of nutritious foods and eat: plenty of breads and cereals (particularly wholegrain), fruit, vegetables and legumes (such as chickpeas, lentils and red kidney beans) low-salt foods, and use salt sparingly small amounts of foods that contain added sugars reduced-fat milk and other dairy products. It is also important to drink an adequate amount of water. A good balance between exercise and food intake is important, as this helps to maintain muscle strength and a healthy body weight. At least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, such as walking, is recommended every day. Adult diets should be low in fat, especially saturated fat. Saturated fat, which is the main fat in animal products, fried foods, chocolate, cakes and biscuits, is more easily deposited as fat tissue than unsaturated fat. Saturated fat can also be converted into cholesterol and cause blood cholesterol levels to rise. Most important do not skip breakfast. Thanku.
