Hello. We can minimize the pain during menses with diet and medicines (which are safe to take).. Diet: - Calcium is a mineral associated with building healthy bones and teeth. However, it may have some applications in minimizing the harmful effects of menstrual cramping. So,increase your intake by eating low-fat dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese or green leafy vegetables. - Your body uses vitamin B-6 to manufacture new red blood cells. When you lose red blood cells via menorrhagia, your body will need more to build new cells. Also, vitamin B-6 is required for your blood sugar to stay at healthy levels. This can help prevent menstrual cramping-related mood swings and fatigue. Vitamin B-6 is found in fortified cereals, bananas, spinach, sunflower seeds, avocados, tomato juice and salmon. - Just as foods can help reduce the symptoms of menstrual cramping and bleeding, foods can aggravate your symptoms. This includes eating excessive amounts of sugar -- such as cakes, cookies and pies. These are known to contribute to water retention, which make you feel bloated and uncomfortable. High-salt content foods -- french fries, pizza and other fried foods --- can also contribute to bloating. Caffeine-containing beverages like tea and coffee should be avoided as they can contribute to headaches, mood swings and trouble sleeping. - If you're craving chocolate, make sure it's over 70 per cent cocoa. This bittersweet treat will help you relax your muscles. - We all know fluids are essential when your body is cramping or bloating. Drinking two to three litres of water during your period is essential. - Tea is an easy way to replace your caffeine craving. Green tea to soothe cramps. now, even though green tea contains caffeine, try decaffeinated green tea instead ? but be aware, you may lose some health benefits with a decaf version. Caffeine is another no-no. Drinking lots of coffee or pop during your period can increase higher levels of tension and anxiety. - Avoid anything that can damage your liver should be off the list. So, avoid alcohol. - Red meat, Smart says, is also know to cause stomach upsets and cramps. Medication: Start taking homoeopathic medicines - Mag. Phos. 6x and Colocynthis 200 - every 2 hrly. during the time of menses. And take Five Phos. and Alfaalfa Tonic - thrice daily for 1 month. Revert me back.

I am a 42-year old male with height 5'5" and suffering from Ankylosing Spondylitis (HLA-B27 positive) for the last 19 years. I'm soon going to have a total/partial hip replacement but before that I'm buying a new car for myself. Please recommend the type of car (hatchback/sedan/SUV) which will be suited for someone with replaced hips. Is the height of the seat from the ground level important for a replaced hipped person and will it be safe to drive after the replacement? Thank you.

Hello lybrate-user, Whatever car you buy, it is more important to know the trunk, hip knee and ankle angulation to sit after hip replacement. Avoid driving a car immediately after surgery. Your trunk should be straight with lumbar lordosis maintained properly with a back support. Hip should be in 90 degree, knee in 110 degrees and foot resting well over the break and accelerator. Do not hang the ankle joint if your height is small.

I had pigmentation problem so I took microdermabration treatment before two and my dermatologist gave me some of skin whitening creams that contains hydroquinon in it so my skin complexion improved but its been more than two years I cant stop using that creams because whenever I try to discontinue I become dark and whenever I expose to sun I get tanned even after using sunscreen of spf 50 now am really frustrated because of this issue and I want to lead a normal life but i'm really afraid of my skin becoming dark please help me.

Hi, don't stop using these creams abruptly as your skin has got habituated to these creams, so better discontinue their frequency of use gradually and slowly. And simultaneously start using homoeopathic cream - medisynth's witch hazel (which is safe to use even for long time) along with natural methods as mentioned below: 1. You can also use a milk and honey pack. Mix these in equal quantities and apply. After applying keep it for some time. Then massage the paste in a circular motion. Wash off with cold water. If you have oily skin use low fat or else use full cream milk. 2. Mash ripe bananas and grease your skin with it. Keep it for some time and rinse it. Repeat this procedure weekly to get good results. You can also add raw milk to the mashed bananas to get a nice glow. 3. Make tomato pulp in the required quantity and apply it to your skin. Leave it for some time so that it dries. Rinse it off with water.

Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. Inform after 10 days for further guidance.

Dear Dr. I am 70 years old healthy male suffering from eye irritation and swelling of eye lid fro the past 5 days. For relief I have been using Refresh eye drops, Ciplox and Ketomar but 100 pc. Relief has not come. Kindly suggest some eye drops which I can use for complete relief. The medicines I am using have been suggested friends who are not opthalmogist. Swelling of lids could be due to multiple problems' infection, allergy, meibomian gland disorders and many more. One needs to personally examine before prescribing any drops. Meanwhile do hot fomentation (dip clean handkerchief in lukewarm water and keep over closed eyelids. Visit eye specialist who would find out exact cause and treat the cause itself.
