Hello, your weight is controlled by 4 major factors (1) refined sugar consumption (2) exercise and hydration (3) posture and sitting (4) how many times do you indulge yourself - alcohol, binge eating at parties, overeating etc. Step 01: refined sugar 1. Avoid all snacks and commercial products with sugar in them - biscuits, cakes, bournvita, horlicks, coke, pepsi, energy drinks, sweetened yogurt etc. 2. Cut down on your daily intake of tea/coffee and maintain it at 3-4 cups a day. 3. Try to add little sugar to any beverage (coffee, tea, milk, lemon water etc.) that you have and ideally you should refrain from adding any sugar altogether. Step 02: get exercise and proper hydration 1. Try to work out for 20 minutes each day. You do not necessarily have to go to the gym. You can incorporate some pretty powerful exercises in your daily routine like - squats, skipping, surya namaskar and core exercises. 2. Drink 8-10 glasses of water everyday but remember that tea/coffee are not substitutes for pure water. Step 03: improve posture and sitting habits if you have a sitting job then ensure that you do not sit for more than 30 minutes at one stretch. Get up and move a little after every 30 minutes. Step 04: stop indulging and eat more of raw natural stuff 1. Try to eliminate the urge to overeat but if you do overeat try to limit the incidents to two times per week. 2. Eat 6 small meals throughout the day 3. Eat 4 servings of fruits per day. 4. Each of your meal should contain 50% of raw vegetables. Once you incorporate the above points in your routine you will see a dramatic difference in your weight, physical shape and energy levels.

Homemade remedies to treat acne and pimples: you probably are under impression that it is tough to treat your acne and pimples. Try our homemade remedies and explore your beautiful skin. Sugar scrub: dead skin cells when get clogged in pores often mimics the acne problem. Scrubbing the skin is the most natural and clinically proven method to exfoliate. Do not scrub too hard, it may irritate and damage your skin. You require: sugar, lemon juice how to use: take half cup of sugar grind it well. Add 10 drops of lemon juice to it. For dry skin, you can add olive oil to give moisturizing effect. Dip your fingertips into the mixture, and scrub on your face in circular motion. Apple cider vinegar: acids in vinegar exfoliate and treat scars on your skin. Also improves skin tone and balances skin ph. It helps to open your pores, shed off bacteria and dirt thus reduces the risk of acne and pimples. Using a cotton swab, apply on pimples. After 30 minutes rinse off with cold water. Do not rub, gently pat with dry towel. Green tea: green tea is rich in epigallocatechin-3-gallate, an antioxidant. Research studies have revealed that epigallocatechin-3-gallate reduces sebum production, inflammation, and infection thus relieving from acne symptoms. You require: green tea leaves how to use: extract green tea from green tea leaves. Wash your face twice a day with green tea and dab with soft towel. It leaves you refreshing and relaxed. You can even daily intake one cup of green tea. Aloe: aloe has many medicinal unseen benefits. It soothes your skin and nourishes giving a vibrant look. 1) please get a stress Echo done under the supervision of a cardiologist to see how you have responded put surgery. 2) if your heart function (EF) is normal drink lot of water. 3) Increase the fibre content in your diet and do daily exercise. 4) You can try taking mild laxatives like Isabhgol 1- 2 tsp daily or Syrup Cremaffin 30 ml daily. 5) if after all these measures you continue to remain bloated please consult a gastroenterologist.

Take amrithotharam kashayam 15 ml along with 60 ml water 6 am and 6 pm. Drink only luke warm water and warm food only. Do it 7 days and inform the result. If the head ache is more you can take sirasoolavajrarasam 1 after lunch and dinner.

Acne is a common problem and is usually treatable. You may need treatment for several months to clear spots. Inflamed acne needs to be treated early to prevent scarring. Acne is the common cause of spots. Most people with acne are aged between 12 and 25 but some older and younger people are affected. Acne usually affects the face but may also affect the back, neck and chest. About 8 in 10 teenagers develop some degree of acne. Often it is mild. However, it is estimated that about 3 in 10 teenagers have acne bad enough to need treatment to prevent scarring. Untreated acne usually lasts about 4-5 years before settling. However, it can last for many years in some cases. There are certain myths and wrongly held beliefs about acne: @ Acne is not caused by poor hygiene. In fact, excessive washing may make it worse. @ Stress does not cause acne. @ Acne is not just a simple skin infection. The cause is a complex interaction of changing hormones, sebum, overgrowth of normally harmless germs (bacteria), inflammation, etc . You cannot catch acne - it is not passed on through touching (contagious). @Acne cannot be cured by drinking lots of water. @There is no evidence to say that sunbathing or sunbeds will help to clear acne. @ Some people believe that acne cannot be helped by medical treatment. This is not true. Treatments usually work well if used correctly. Skin care required for people with acne: @Do not wash more than normal. Twice a day is normal for most people. Use a mild soap and lukewarm water. (Very hot or cold water may worsen acne.) Do not scrub hard when washing acne-affected skin. Do not use abrasive soaps, cleansing granules, astringents, or exfoliating agents. Use a soft washcloth and fingers instead. Excess washing and scrubbing may cause more inflammation and possibly make acne worse. @ Antiseptic washes may be beneficial. @ You cannot clean off blackheads. The black tip of a blackhead is actually skin pigment (melanin) and cannot be removed by cleaning or scrubbing. Homeopathic treatment is best for people with acne as it is mild and without any side effects. Now besides medicines, good soaps and facewash are available which doesn't harm skin and help removing acne spots. Pls consult via lybrate with details of your symptoms for treatment.

Hello lybrate users- its due to excessive vata-pitta prakopa happened due to your late night schedule. I always suggest my patient not to wake up late at night. It causes insomnia, loss of mental alertness, lathargyness, and dementia up to some extent. Try this ayurvedic routine to recover safely from your symptoms- a) massage with sheer bala oil daily in the morning before bath. B) massage your foot soles with plain cows ghee daily for 1o minutes before going to bed. C) use mahabhrngraj hair oil for head massage daily. D) take a glass of milk with one sweet at bed time. E) avoid day sleeping as you might feel drowsy in the morning due to lack of sleep. You will surely see the change from first week of treatment.

Hyena,  Thanks for the query. There’s no overnight fix when it comes to healthy weight loss, but you can adjust your lifestyle to promote quick, natural weight loss for the benefit of your health and your appearance. Successful, long-term weight management needs to focus on more than the food you eat and the pounds you lose. It needs to focus on your overall health. Reshape your body and your lifestyle by adopting healthy habits and breaking unhealthy ones. Replace all processed foods in your diet with vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy, lean meats, eggs, legumes, nuts, seeds and seafood. Focus on the variety of whole, unprocessed foods you can eat instead of dwelling on the junk food you eliminated from your diet. Eat smaller portions at every meal and avoid going back for seconds. Take a smaller scoop of rice,  half of a piece of chicken instead of a whole piece and one less egg in your morning omelet, for example. Make time for breakfast every morning. Eating breakfast helps prevent overeating and is a habit of people who successfully lose weight. Pack to-go meals instead of eating convenience foods when you’re not home. Store foods like chopped fruits and vegetables or cooked grains, legumes, eggs and meats in your refrigerator so you always have something to grab when you’re in a rush. Buy fresh vegetables and fruits from the grocery store if you forget to bring healthful food from home. When you can’t avoid dining at a restaurant, opt for a salad as a starter, and always ask for the dressing on the side. Clear soups, lean meats, seafood and grain-based dishes like roti, whole grain bread are other good choices. Exercise for 30 to 60 minutes at least three times per week to build muscle and burn more calories. Pilates, strength training, aerobics, swimming, dancing and yoga or a sport like football are ideal choices. If you’re new to exercising, start with brisk walking and jogging. Adopt physically demanding hobbies like bicycling, hiking, jogging, power walking to promote faster weight loss. If you don’t have time for new hobbies, increase your physical activity with things like walking the dog, playing with the kids or jogging instead of driving to a nearby store or taking the stairs instead of the elevator.

Is distrust on partner is a symptom of depression or major depressive disorder. I tried a lot to trust on my husband but every time negative thoughts comes in my mind that he is having attraction or affair on someone. I feel so hopeless, lonely worried because of this. I am diagnosed with major depressive disorder and on medication stalopam 10 mg. But this distrust on my partner killing me.

Most depressions also have anxiety. It is not surprising that you are suspicious of your husband but unless it is well-founded, you are disturbing your relationship and your own mental peace. This can make your depression worse. I recommend you meet with a counselor and talk such matters out to get a proper reality orientation. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

I usually eat dinner early say at 7: 30-8: 0pm and daily I get up at morning say at6: 30-7am. Many times I feel my stomach like a balloon full of gas and I get a pressure which makes me fart or go to toilet. Due to this I can not sleep long in the morning as I get a pressure right at 7 am. So I need to know why is this happening, what do you say this in your medical term and what should be done to avoid it.

this could be duebto infestation of intestinal parasites like hook warms, round warms, tape warms. normally one should get dewarming at least once a year if not six monthly it is a single dose medication like albendazole or mebendazole so get it done in consultation with a doctor near your locality. it will be alright.

Acute Acne - Tips To Help You Manage It With Ease!

One of the skin’s main functions is protection, and one of the ways it does that is by producing sebum. During teenage and early adolescent years, there is a release of excessive sexual hormones, which also leads to excessive sebum production. This clogs the pores, leading to accumulation of sebum within the skin layers. There are also bacteria trapped within this, leading to infections. Symptoms could include blister formation with pustules, redness, and severe pain. In people with naturally oily skin, this can be a major problem, with large acne which may leave marks when healed.

Causes:
Excessive hormones (androgens).
In girls, correlation with menstrual cycles, pregnancy, and polycystic ovaries,  indicating an association with increased hormone levels.

Management: As it is easy to identify if you are prone to developing acne, steps should be taken to avoid developing acne or reducing its severity once they appear.

  1. Touching acne is a strict no-no. There is a great tendency to keep picking at it, but this should be avoided as the infection can spread to other unaffected areas.
  2. Using a cold towel or soft cotton cloth can help in soothing the area
  3. Ice cubes can also be used on the acne. This will also reduce blood supply and curtail increase in severity
  4. Acne is proven to be an indication of stress, and so stress management is very essential.
  5. Keep calm by various methods – meditation, music, yoga, exercise
  6. A regular exercise routine also is very helpful. The sweating during the exercise helps in clearing up the pores and keeping the skin clean. Sebum is more often cleared out this way, leading to reduced acne
  7. Lifestyle (sleep and diet): A healthy eating pattern with reduced oily foods and sugars and more amounts of fresh foods is highly helpful. A good amount of sleep is also beneficial for overall skin health.
  8. Garments which come in touch with facial skin like pillow covers should be washed with gentle soap
  9. Regular skin care routine should be maintained including frequent washing, regular moisturising, and periodic exfoliating.
  10. Avoid too many chemicals and adhere to a regimen using as many natural substances as possible.
  11. Mild gels or lotions like tretinoin, tazarotene, and adapalene are useful in controlling acne
  12. Topical antibiotics like clindamycin or erythromycin combined with benzoyl peroxide may also be used if more severe
  13. Birth control pills are also used to regulate hormonal levels in some women.
  14. Scars can be treated with laser light therapy, dermabrasion, chemical peels, or steroid injections
  15. Remember that acne is a part of growing up, and will naturally reduce after the growing years.
