Botox & Fillers - How They Work?

Botox & Fillers - How They Work?

One thing most people do every day is to look in the mirror and analyze their looks. The face is needless to say the most analyzed part, and most people would want some or the other feature changed. This need increases with age, when fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, crow’s feet, etc., begin to make an appearance.

The skin has multiple layers, with the inner dermal layer having collagen and fibrous tissue which is covered by the topmost layer, epidermis. Though the epidermis is visible, the underlying layers give skin all its features from firmness to color to tone. Most skincare products work at improving these underlying layers, be it hyaluronic acid or vitamin A/E, or retinol, or benzoyl peroxide. These products can be used to improve skin tone, texture, glow or color. In addition to all the products that are available, Botox too made an entry into the market.

How they work?
With age, all tissues degenerate, and so do the skin’s underlying layers. Also, with poor food habits, the skin may not be getting the required nutrition to regenerate itself adequately. Therefore, these products are used directly on the skin to act as “fillers.” All the chemicals used as fillers contain essential skin ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, vitamin C, vitamin A, salicylic acid, etc. Injected directly into the skin, they have a higher impact than when taken as a food or applied on the skin. The skin is able to regenerate better, and therefore improve appearance. The result is a glowing skin which is radiant and youthful.

How is it done?

  • Most treatments are in-office, walk-in procedures wherein each sitting takes about 20 minutes.
  • In a relaxed environment, the filler is injected into the skin, and the patient rests for about 10 minutes before walking out.
  • These injections are useful in improving tone, firming up the skin, and reducing sagginess and droopiness.
  • Repeat sittings are required once in 3 to 4 months to maintain the appearance.

Botox: Initially, this neurotoxin was used to treat diseases such as paralysis, but then its cosmetic use was gradually established. It is used when fine lines and wrinkles begin to appear. It acts on the nerve endings and paralyzes them, thereby preventing wrinkles and reducing sagging.

How is it done?
This is again done as an outpatient procedure, and will take about 20 to 30 minutes. Not just wrinkles, even fine lines especially on the forehead can be eliminated with Botox. Production of skin proteins such as collagen and elastin are improved after Botox treatment, giving skin a youthful, radiant appearance.

While ageing is still inevitable, a youthful appearance can be prolonged and managed with options such as fillers and Botox.

Homeopathic Treatment For Atopic Dermatitis

The sudden change in the looks, color or texture of the skin indicates the skin diseases. This can result in swelling, chapping, itching, blistering etc. that can or can’t accompany with pain. The skin disorder may be localized on the specific part or may spread to the whole body; this disease is known as Atopic Dermatitis. The discomfort or pain of this disease also creates an awkward condition with looks. Many skin diseases like pimples, eczema problem, rashes, and fungal infections along with Atopic Dermatitis much more are commonly found in the people. Measles, rubella, roseola, chicken pox these are common skin diseases found in children. In some conditions, the blistered and inflamed skin can be very painful and the virus infection can continue to chickenpox.

The factors causing Atopic Dermatitis are as wide ranging as the kinds of diseases it. The Atopic Dermatitis can be caused due to heat, immune system weakness, infections, medications, and allergy with chemicals like rubber, cosmetics, detergents, soaps, dyes, etc.

Even the skin type and the various alcohols based or infrequent shampooing is also responsible for the skin problems. Some uncontrolled factors like aging, fatigue, weather and fatigue can often develop skin diseases gradually.

Homeopathy Heals:

Atopic Dermatitis is very efficiently treated with natural Homeopathic medicines. The medicines firstly help in decreasing the severity of disease, itching and the frequency of relapses. And with the constitutional natural Homeopathic remedies selected solely on the basis of individual symptoms, there is a promise of eradicating the disease from its root. The Homeopathic medicine selection is based upon the totality of symptoms. The totality includes the site of eruption, the type of eruption, the worsening and relieving factors, time of itching, desires and aversions regarding food, sensitivity towards heat and cold, and the peculiar mental symptoms if present in a high degree. Homeopathic remedies help in eradicating Dermatitis from the root by increasing the patient’s immunity to the optimal level so that there won’t be any hypertensive flare-ups. The Homeopathic treatment for Atopic Dermatitis is not instant and does take time though, varying from months to a year depending upon the severity, duration of Dermatitis, plus the individual response to the remedy taken.

Regularly wash your face with hot water and soap. Make sure that when washing your face, you use a soap that is free of artificial additives. Once you wash your face with a cleanser, use a face cream or moisturizer that is oil-free to help your skin remain supple. Choose a face cream that is alcohol free

Your hair needs a high protein well-rounded diet. A strand of hair is composed of mostly protein, which means your hair needs protein to grow. Hair and nails are both protein fibers. Hence a therapeutic diet prescribed by a registered dietitian can help a lot in hair growth. Besides diet excessive stress and some medication are conclusively known to retard hair growth and promote hair loss. - cut down on the use of hair spray, hair gels, and styling creams that contain harsh chemical ingredients, which can dry out the scalp and cause the formation of flakes. Also harsh treatments such as perms, colours, relaxers etc take a toll on the health of your hair. - avoid changing your shampoo and conditioner constantly. Stick to one good mild cleansing shampoo for six months before changing. - excessive exposure to the sun, pollution, rain water and dust without proper protection makes the hair dry, brittle and limp. Use a live in conditioner during the rains to protect it from the humidity and wash and oil it regularly to maintain a healthy scalp. I being a both a registered dietitian and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

My skin gets white patches in winter season it becomes dry please tell way to d5.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), MSCP

My skin gets white patches in winter season it becomes dry please tell way to d5.
That is basically because your body lacks the essential oil that is important for a healthy skin remember there are two kinds of fat/cholesterol 1. The good fat - present in all our nuts like almonds, walnut. Ground nut, sesame, milk, buttermilk/curds and ghee (1/2 tsps per day). This fat is vital for a healthy skin, hair, eyes and to have healthy joints 2. The bad fat - that comes with excessive consumption of cooking oil, deep fried food, red meat, meat fat and re used oil. This is harmful to our body start having badam oil during winters - 5 drops mixed with a small cup of warm milk and taken in empty stomach in the mornings externally apply this home made face cream - fresh cream/ cream of milk - 1tsp + moong dal powder 1tsp + milk 1 tsp+ aloe vera gel 1/2 tsp - mix well, apply to face, massage with your finger tips for a couple of minutes and then wash your face with cold water. Do this at bedtime everyday for best results.
