Hi, I am 31 years old. I started smoking cigarettes at the age of 21. Initially I used to smoke 2-4 ciggerrates (only when I drank) and drank once in a month. Then at the age of 23 I started regular smoking with 4-5 ciggerrates a day. Then I quit for 8 months. Then again started 4-5 ciggerrates a day and drinking once a week. For last 5 years I was a chain smoker smoking 10 ciggerrates a day. I have quit smoking now, but I am using vaporiser with Nicotine vaping liquid. I have also started living a health lifestyle. What are my chances of lung cancer or any other cancer? I don't have any cancer related symptoms. I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia 5 years back. I am on medication for that. What are the side effects of vaping? Can my smoking and drinking addiction could have caused paranoid schizophrenia? Can I have the permanent cure for schizophrenia without there anti psychotic medication? Please help.

Hi lybrate-user, here are certain ways to cure schizophrenia without medicines. 1. Vitamins: This kind of mental disorder is basically because of the lack of the right kinds of vitamins in the body. The wrong kind of diet might lead to the lack of the important nutrients in the body that leads to the mind getting weaker and this issue getting evident. When the chemical components present in the brain get disproportionate, it leads to the issue of Schizophrenia. Patients of Schizophrenia need to make sure that they add the methyl B12 as well as the vitamins such as C and A in the diet. 2. Fish Oil: The omega 3 fats make your brain get stronger and mightier. The lack of this source leads to the brain getting weaker day by day and causes the disease of Schizophrenia. Adding fish oil in your daily diet gives you the right amount of omega 3 fats and helps the patients recover. 3. Glycerin: Another reason behind the problem of Schizophrenia might be the breakage of the bonds between the amino blocks. It occurs when your body lacks in glycerin. Adding it in your diet helps you getting back to the healthy functioning of the brain. 4. Right Diet: A right kind of diet helps you having a healthy body. When your diet is rich in nutrients that you actually need, you end up having a vigorous brain. The ketogenic diet is a diet that is the most suitable diet for the patients of Schizophrenia. This diet helps you having the right amount of fats as well as the proteins that are needed for the recovery. 5. Chamomile: Chamomile is extremely reliable when it comes to ten issues like Schizophrenia. In Schizophrenia, the brain of the patients works abnormally and in order to calm him down, you need to give him a good dose of Chamomile. Just add it in water and boil it a bit. Gove the mixture to the patient to drink. 6. Exercise: A healthy body leads to a healthy life. The patients of Schizophrenia need to get involved with physical activities in order to make their brain, breath and work properly. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I get palpitations. I feel devastated. I do not want to talk to any one. I just remain in my room 24*7 lost in thoughts and imagination. I get angry at everything. I cry at everything. I can not concentrate on my studies. I throw my books away and sit at a fixed place. I do not want to talk to anyone. Sometimes the condition is such that I really do not get any emotion. Just emotionless. I do not know what I am feeling. I like sitting in darkness. I hate people around me. I feel lost in thoughts. What is happening to me.

Your many problem lies within you, so you can solve it easily, what it requires is someone who can show the way which leads to solution of your problem. Everyone is unique and everyone has some quality ,you need to recognise that quality after knowing that quality you will start loving yourself ,stop fighting with yourself. For few days forget everything only focus on yourself your liking, your hobby, you can go with your friend somewhere and when you become relax then analyse the problem, At that time you will be able to rule out the reason for your depression and after that if you feel the same and not able to diagnose the problem then you must go for medication along with counselling. In the meantime try few things when you get irritated or angry you can divert your mind some where else ,make any good friend and share your feelings. We can't change the thinking of people around us but we can change our approach. When some thing disturbs you write it on paper, best way is to avoid and involve yourself in some other activity. Take care.

Hello lybrate-user, killing oneself is not the solution to the problems of life. When a woman is pregnant and for about 6-9 months after delivery she has certain hormones in her body which make her emotionally weaker. These hormones are also necesarry for the development of the baby. I can assure you you will not feel as fearful in 3 month's time. Try to distract yourself whenever you get bad thoughts. Don't give up. Your condition will improve and your baby will bring you a lot of happiness. Be hopeful. Don't worry. This tough phase will pass.

Dear user. The duty of your mind is to think. Your mind will start thinking if you are idle or if you don't give any challenging / engaging tasks. That thought process should always lead to negative thoughts. You should keep yourself engaged. Positive attitude too helps. I suggest online counseling. Take care.

8 hours is average sleep. If u sleep less and want to earn more money, then you will be spending the earned money on your health later. Sleep deprivation, shortens your life and increase cardiac mortality. So sleep for 8 hours and be happy. If exams u can sleep a bit less

How can I increase my interest in studies. I can't control my emotions n easily lose concentration thinking of other things?

BASM, MD, MS (Counseling & Psychotherapy), MSc - Psychology, Certificate in Clinical psychology of children and Young People, Certificate in Psychological First Aid, Certificate in Positive Psychology

Dear lybrate user. I can understand. To increase interest in your education, you need to have a concrete attainable goal. You must be able to understand concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. You should be able to overcome distractions or avoid distractions. Please understand the above. Change your study style and attitude accordingly. I suggest online counseling and" effective learning" techniques. Take care.

Hello , as you are following the instructions given by your doctor you are doing it. As such with the above duration mentioned these are controllable but one can not say that these are not curable. Most of the time one may need to take medicines life long also. This may not be applicable to you, I am generalizing the issue and mentioning you.
