Please help in suggesting what to feed for iron requirement to my 11 month old baby?
Normal home cooked food without spices in semi solid form should be given in routine. Emphasize on green vegetables. You can add jaggery. Pomegranate juice will help for more iron (if actually needed. Supplement may be given.

Suffering from throat pain. Regularly. Head ache always from child hood Constipation.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
Suffering from throat pain. Regularly. Head ache always from child hood Constipation.
First thing you should get thyroid testing done, and than you may need to hydrate up your body because any symptoms of throat comes with symptoms of nose also dear the symptoms you are getting are due to dryness of the mouth, this is because of lack of mucus in the mouth which is protective layer of our mouth, and is being produced in the mouth by glands which will be helped by good and healthy blood supply to the glands, blood with good blood cells will take oxygen to the gland and gland works, they require oxygen in ample of amount, so if you do not take iron diet on daily basis than this will lead to less of mucus production and hence lead to dryness and thick mucus problem, this thick mucus leads to irritation in mouth hence leads to itching in the mouth, start taking good iron diet on daily basis, and shakes, avoid salty and spicy food.

Most studies have shown effectiveness for 10 years in majority of people. Hence Tetanus vaccine is recommended once every 10 years, as long as one has received the primary doses of 4 vaccines in childhood. A severe injury or large wound would warrant earlier vaccination along with use of Tetanus Immunoglobulin. Minor injuries need not be occasions to repeat the Tetanus Injection. Definitely not 4 times in 6 months.

I am having 3 week baby girl and she is passing green poo since last two days. My wife is not having enough milk. So we are feeding baby with lactogen. What should I do?

MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician,
Green stools are not a problem. But you should avoid bottle feeding /formula feeding for 3 weeks. Consult a lady doctor or lactational specialist to improve milk production. Avoid bottle feeding till 6 months of age.

Treatment depends on type of rashes. If these rashes are not red and having gray or blackish white patches, this may be cradle cap. You need not to worry, just apply coconut oil as soother.

My baby born with 2.5 kgs. Please guide me how to put on his weight. Wat diet my wife has to follow.
If your baby is 6months old you should introduce semisolid diet like khichdi, dal rice, mashed potato, mashed fruits, thick milkshakes, soups, fresh fruit juices, vegetable pulao everything in semisolid consistency. Do not force feed your child. Continue mother's milk. Mother has to take nutritious diet, milk and milk products, paneer, sprouts, fruits, balanced diet, all leafy vegetables. Have food and feed your child with a very relaxed mind. See your child growing happily.

My son who is 14 years old has been running a few 10km races. He cycles 4 km everyday. He wants to participate in a 21 km run. He would be jogging and walking alternately (ie not running the entire 21 K). Is it safe for him to participate? Any precautions? Any inputs/ advice would be greatly valued. Thank you.

Hi sir/maam . My child age is 13 yrs, he is interesting to do ladies works and spend on more time to girls and play with girls games, this type of case can I do any hormone test or he needs any operation? Could you please suggest me.

MD Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Hyderabad
Well this is a behaviour disorder so try to change his surroundings and his friend circle. I assume that he is surrounded by females in house and there is no male friend hence he is interested in more of females jobs. So shift him from that place and make a new friend circle for him.

Hi my daughter doesn't like to eat anything. Need to feed her forcefully and she just vomiting the next moment after having the food. Please suggest me.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Hi my daughter doesn't like to eat anything. Need to feed her forcefully and she just vomiting the next moment after ...
Please tell her weight and do not force feed children and if the activity is good you can relax . Check her blood CBC and TSH. Things to avoid • Do not refuse to give high-energy foods, like ice cream, cakes, biscuits and chocolate, in the hope that your child will eat 'proper' meals and 'healthy' foods. Reason: This is not a good way to get your child to eat new foods, and your child might lose weight if you withhold their 'safe' foods. • Do not try to force your child to eat food. Reason: This will make your child even more anxious at mealtimes, and may cause your child to vomit the food back up. • Leave long gaps between meals to try to make your child more hungry or hide new foods inside foods that your child already likes. Reason: This will make your child less hungry over time, and may lead to weight loss. Some children can very easily detect new tastes and smells, even when hidden in other foods. Your toddler may just stop eating the liked foods. Things that help • Encourage your child to experience different textures through 'messy' play every day. Your toddler may find some textures (like Play-Doh) very difficult, so start with textures that they are happy to touch. This may need to be drier consistencies initially, such as rice or lentils. Gradually progress to more messy/wet substances, allowing your toddler to gain confidence. Have plenty of fun and get messy. If you don't like touching certain textures yourself, or don't feel comfortable allowing your toddler to make a mess, then why not take them to a playgroup in your area? Reason: Many children who are extreme food refusers are very sensitive to touch on the hands and mouth, and so will not even pick up new foods. Messy play helps them to get used to new textures. • Give small frequent meals of foods that your child accepts. Reason: Some children become very anxious at mealtimes and are sometimes very slow eaters. Small frequent meals will help them to take in the calories that they need. • Remember, even children who are extremely faddy eaters usually grow and develop normally, if they are given the foods that they will accept. Reason: It is important to keep your child growing well, and these extreme food refusers do grow as we would expect them to if they have enough of the food that they will eat.

My daughter has got high fever suddenly with shivering. She is 7.7 years. She was fine till yesterday afternoon. Last evening became little lethargic and by night feverish. Is it because of sudden onset of cold weather? Or anything else?

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hi, yes this may be because of change of weather .Take gelesemium 200, twice daily . Take Eupatrium perf 200, 5 drops thrice daily. Take Antifebrinum 3x, 2 tabs , thrice daily. Take Alfalfa malt, 1 tsf, thrice daily. Drink lots of water and take light homemade food like dalia and khichdi, avoid oily, spicy, fried, junk and cold drinks. In case of high uncontrollable fever, don't panic you should do cold sponging to lower down the temperature. If fever does not goes then go for a set of blood tests. Revert me with feedback. Take care of your health.GOOD DAY.

Detailed examination for any neurological defect is required to know extent & cause. Birth injury is most likely cause of this deficit. Physiotherapy is beneficial & outcome depends on extent of damage to nerves.
