I am suffering from anklyosing spondylitis from last night 10 years . I was doing well in fighting it but from last three months I am very ill and my si joint pain is very much disturbing . Please help me and suggest me what should I do in doing that ?

Dear, I understood your problem, i know that its very embarrassing for you to bear but you have to consult physiotherapy. its the only option. Take short wave diathermy at si joint. ift and ultrasound at point. Take all exercise which will maintain your flexibility

I have burning sensation in knee some times mostly I when I do gym also there is a pain in my knee and in legs joint.

Tk vit b12 and calcium supplements and avoid exercise just nw do only stretching exercise of legs avoid strain do hot fermentation.

Hello sir my father's age is 59 and he is suffering from diabetes. Few months back he underwent left eye angiography, and now he is having swollen foot and ankles. Kindly suggest me is it advisable to give him magnesium 220mg as food supplement.

Diabetes must be controlled beyond any shadow of doubt. Why are you so particular for magnesium only. Give him balanced diet.

Dear lybrate-user, apply heat fermentation with diclofenac ointment once a day for a week. Wear knee cap. Lying flat on bed put rolled towel under your kne and press it 20 times. Repeat it twice a day for 10 days. If still pain persists take inferential therapy.

You may wait till the pain is reduced. If its due to internal injury in the muscle fibre you may have to wait little longer. Better consult a doctor who can exactly assess and give you an opinion.

Using heat and cold therapy for muscle and joint pains.

Both heat and cold therapy can help. It may take some trial and error to find out which works best for you.

How does heat therapy help reduce swelling and pain?
Heat dilates (opens up) blood vessels, stimulates blood circulation and reduces muscle spasms.

At home you can try dry heat such as heating pads or moist heat such as warm baths or heated moist towels.

How does cold therapy help reduce swelling and pain?
Cold works differently, it constricts (closes blood vessels) then opens them up again closes and opens up. This alternate closing and opening cycle of blood vessels drains out swelling and toxins from that area. At home you can use ice packs with covers or traditional ice bags or ice cubes in a plastic bag with proper covers so its not too cold.

Both heat and cold should be used very carefully only when sensations are normal otherwise it can cause burns or damage to skin and tissues.

Professional health care providers such as physiotherapists use moist heat, deep heat such as ultrasound therapy and cold therapy along with joint and tissue mobilizations, specific stretching and strengthening exercises, customized tips about improving posture, ergonomics, sleeping habits for long lasting relief from pain.

Follow these usefultips for arthritis pain relief: * take take calcium rich diet daily. Take a glass (300 ml) of full cream milk daily or 100 gm of cheese or 1-2 eggs regularly. * give a gentle oil massage to knees regularly and wrap your knees with cloth dipped in hot water for atleast 10-15 minutes. * wear knee cap or wrap crape bandage during walk for knee support. * sit atleast for 5-8 minutes in sunlight in morning or evening for vitamin-d *avoid heal shoe and wear only flat shoes for balanced load on knees. * take guggalu tablets if himalaya one tablet daily for atleast 3 months. * take a piece of garlic, crush it and boil it a glass of milk and drink daily for fast pain relief.

Rest must avoid long standing and toward bending do heat fermentation and tk muscle relaxant medicine and start stretching exercise in daily routine. If it work then ok otherwise tk physiotherapy treatment.

Hi I can understand your problem 1) avoid activities that make your symptoms worse 2) apply hot packs 3) start physiotherapy treatment as electrotherapy will reduce pain inflammation 4) exercise and mannual therapy will help in painfree movement. It requires detailed investigation and examination. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that patient is not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform.

For pain take tablet paracetamol 650 mg and Get your blood checked for CBC and follow up with reports.

Avoid sitting cross legged. Ankle stretching. Ankle strengthening exercises. Avoid squatting. Quadriceps exercises. Core strenthening exercises. Stretch calves get a custom made insole. Hams stretching. Sports taping. Hot fomentation.
