Hi since you have nasal discharge it falls at your back of the nose into throat and lower down over voice box inturn causes cough we call it post nasal drip due to sinus issues. Kindly start doing steam inhalation will help. For cough take warm water with honey. Avoid curds and milk during nights. For nasal blockade can use nasal decongestant drops will help in breathing better. Do get a x-ray of nose and sinuses and a nasal endoscopy done this will give better picture. After the reports can suggest medicines.

Hi take ginger tea mixed with 2-3 crushed garlic cloves. Massaging the chest with warm sesame oil mixed with salt helps to loosen the phlegm deposited in the chest, especially, when followed with steam inhalation. Take shwas kuthar ras twice a day. Pranacharya asthamin capsule 1-1 twice a day. And pranacharya shwas vikarasav 2-2 tsf twice a day. 1-1 drop of cow ghee in both nostrils at night time before sleep. Take hot water steam.

Hi I have breathing problem at night while sleeping, many a times I get up grasping for breath. I have had sinus problem since childhood. I also snore a lot. My neck has grown fat.

You may be suffering from obstructive sleep apnoea. To get rid of your problem you should loose weight, avoid alcohol and sleeping pills, avoid sleeping in supine posture and finally consult with an experienced ENT surgeon to know if you need surgery.

Please take bryonia 200 - once daily for next 3-4 days. Drink plenty of warm fluids. Drinking warm fluids helps to loosen the secretions in your sinuses so that your mucus flows more freely, making you feel better faster. Studies show that drinking warm fluids relieves cold symptoms such as runny nose, cough, sneezing, sore throat, and fatigue.

I am 40 years old female sinus diagnosed. I am thyroid patient is there any connection between both.

Bronchial Adenoma: Types and Symptoms

Bronchial Adenoma: Types and Symptoms

Bronchial adenoma is an uncommon benign tumour that begins in the mucous glands and the airways of the lungs (bronchi). These cancers progress very slowly and can be cured if detected. These cancers can easily spread to other parts of the body, such as the adjoining cells and tissues. These types of cancers, however, respond well to treatment.

There are three types of bronchial adenoma:

  1. Adenoid cystic carcinoma: This type of cancer starts in the salivary glands of the mouth; it may also affect the sweat glands, trachea (windpipe) and the woman's breasts.
  2. Carcinoid tumors: These tumors impair the functioning of the nerve cells and cells that produce hormones. They usually develop in the stomach and the lungs.
  3. Mucoepidermoid carcinoma: This type develops in the salivary glands. The parotid glands near the ears are usually affected.

Causes: The exact cause of this disorder is not known. It is believed that some genes in the body are responsible for mutation of the cells. Multiple endocrine neoplasia (a combination of diseases which affects the endocrine system of the body) increases the risks of being affected by bronchial adenoma.

Symptoms: Since these tumors progress very slowly, initially the symptoms might not be apparent. In the latter stages, the symptoms that show up depend on the location of the cancer.

For carcinoid tumors, the symptoms are:

  1. You may experience wheezing and cough
  2. Presence of blood in the cough
  3. Chest pain and breathing difficulties
  4. Becoming increasingly susceptible to infections such as pneumonia

For mucoepidermoid carcinoma, the symptoms are:

  1. The glands near the ears may swell
  2. You may experience pain in your face

For Adenoid cystic carcinoma, the symptoms are:

  1. Trouble while swallowing food
  2. Hoarse voice
  3. Swelling on the roof of your mouth
  4. Numbness in the jaw
  5. Bumps below the jaw

I am suffering from tonsillitis as well as uvulitis After taking 3 azithromycin 500mg for 3 successive days my tonsillitis got cured But uvulitis is yet there. My uvula is swollen enlarged and I have pain in swallowing. Currently I am taking combiflam. But uvulitis is still there. What to do?

D.N.B, D.L.O
ENT Specialist, Bangalore
Hello lybrate-user uvulitis will improve slowly if it's a viral attack. Tonsillitis improved as the bacterial infection responded to azithromycin. You can continue with combiflam. Along with that do warm water gargling. Do consult for other medications. Take care.
