I was recently examined by a medical officer for the recruitment in armed forces and he declared me unfit due to nasal polyp. So can you please guide me for what kind of solution should I go for. And also tell me cost of treatment in delhi or agra in india.

MS(ENT), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Hyderabad
Nasal polyp may or may not require surgery depending on its size, site etc. In case it needs surgery it is done by endoscopy. In a corporate hospital where I work it may cost around sixty to seventy thousands minimum. These surgeries are sophisticated. U have to stay in hospital for 1 day. U can start all normal activities within 7 days.

For first 3 month of treatment protect your child from frequent colds nd immediately discuss with me during attacks of cold for any acute homoeopathic medicine or consult your physician. After 2-3 months this problem will decrease day by day.

Tears come out of my eyes very often. I have sinus and I smoke. Sometimes people say why are you crying. It becomes very embarrassing as I'm not crying. Please help.

DORL, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Faridabad
For running purpose your nose should be patent to raise vital capacity if a person suffering from nasal obstruction with mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusiits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically.

I get throat infection if I drink anything cold or even go out on bike without covering my nose. I want to know what medicine I can take from the medical that can prevent/cure the problem if I am unable to consult my doctor.(apart from hot water gargle as I already do that). My doctor recently prescribed Hifen 200 Dt and he also gave other tablets from his clinic. Is this a safe tablet? Any other tablet which will be better? Is a companion tablet necessary?

I heard that if I go for endoscopic sinus surgery it changes my nose shape. Please advice

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, endoscopic sinus surgery, also known as sinoscopy, is a minimally invasive surgical procedure used to remove blockages in the sinuses for recurring sinus infections. During the procedure, a thin lighted tube with a camera on the end is inserted into the nose to let the doctor visually examine the area. Tiny surgical instruments are then inserted to remove the obstructive tissues. Endoscopic sinus surgery does not require any incision, as the whole procedure is performed through the nostrils and do not change shape of your nose. Thanks.

If the ear drum perforation ( hole) is large,it is unlikely to heal without surgery. There is nothing to get scared. It is a very routinely performed surgery. The morbidity is very little & the results are excellent, when done by an experienced surgeon.
