Hello, if you have started on the birth control again since last month then you are not pregnant for sure and should actually wait in all 7 days to allow the withdrawal bleed to occur. As you are already experiencing symptoms so you should be patient and wait for menses to return naturally.

Supplements May Cut LDL in Older Women
-------------------------------------------------------
Postmenopausal women taking calcium and vitamin D supplements had improved lipid profiles compared with those taking placebo as per a new study.

In an analysis of data from the Women?s Health Initiative, the level of LDL cholesterol was lower by an average of 4.46 mg/dL in the women on active treatment reported Peter F. Schnatz, DO, of Reading Hospital in Pennsylvania in the journal menopause.

In addition, higher concentrations of 25?hydroxyvitamin D3 (25(OH)D3) were associated with higher levels of HDL cholesterol and lower levels of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

To conceive you need to reduce your weight to let your hormone work. A small amount of weight loss is likely to help balance your hormones and start up your menstrual cycle and ovulation. Eat a balanced diet that includes lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and low-fat dairy products. Get regular exercise to help you control or lose weight. Hormone supplements also need to be prescribed to induce menstural cycle ovulation or in other words your fertility cycle. Consult a gynecologist for the same.

At the age of 15 one day I woke up in the morning with the strong urge to urinate. I pee with full pressure after that I felt a acute untolerable pain in my testicle and got admitted to hospital and got treated by medicines. After that my left testicle got small (very small compared to right one). It's nearly equal to size of a pea. Now I am 28 and about to get married and some where I have read that small testicle is infertile. Can I have children? Help me please.

Hai. You probably had a torsion (twist of the stalk) of the testis. You may now check in a lab if you have Sperm in the ejaculate which indicates if the other testis is functioning normally. If the counts and other parameters are normal, you have a normal possibility of fathering a child. Best wishes.

Do Contraceptive Pills Affect Your IVF Success Rate?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology

Do Contraceptive Pills Affect Your IVF Success Rate?

The first step of the IVF process usually involves birth control pills. Women who find it difficult to conceive naturally are advised to take birth control pills to regulate their menstrual cycle. You may be surprised but this is a common practice. What these pills do is allow the fertility clinic to time your menstrual cycle and menstruation dates. For women with irregular cycles, this is very important as it can help doctors know when exactly the medication to stimulate ovulation can be started. These pills can also help save money. IVF is expensive and if you are seeking treatment out of town, you will have to buy last-minute tickets during your menstrual cycle to reach the clinic in time for them to start ovarian stimulation. However, if you are on birth control, your cycle is timed and you can plan your consultation dates in advance.

Once the menstrual cycle is regularized, the patient will be advised when to stop taking the pills. In most cases, the patient should start menstruating a few days later. On the second day, medication to stimulate the ovaries will be started. In most cases, patients are advised to take birth control pills for at least 6 weeks before an IVF cycle.

Not all IVF patients are good candidates for birth control medication. Patients suffering from high blood pressure or those with a history of migraines should not take birth control medication. Doctors are also usually wary about prescribing birth control medication to women over the age of 40 years. Women who have undergone an earlier unsuccessful IVF cycle are also not advised to start using birth control pills. Some doctors also believe that birth control pills may also have an adverse effect on the IVF cycle.

Some studies have shown that women using birth control pills have a lower level of Anti Mullerian Hormone. This, in turn, reduces the body’s reaction to ovarian stimulation. This is because the level of this hormone determines the number of follicles that can be stimulated in the IVF cycle. This reaction was noted more distinctly in cases where women were prescribed more androgenic birth control pills. For this reason, women with a low ovarian reserve are prescribed less androgenic birth control pills. The medication should also not be taken for very long. Alternatively, women may be treated with an estrogen patch for ten days prior to the IVF cycle. This helps prime the menstrual cycle. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!
