Dear user with the information provided it appears that you are suffering from viral upper respiratory infection. It is advisable if you can start doing gargles with luke warm water on a regular basis at least twice daily till your problem resolves. For the relief of your pain you can take tab paracetamol 500 mg twice or thrice daily. Hope this solves your query.

Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretching stretch. Do the cat/cow avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Apply hot fomentation.

I have been jogging for some time. The lower right side of my thighs, just above my knees have become very stiff. Even when I take rest for a few days it does not become soft. Please advise.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your description indicates that you are having trouble with your hamstrings. This could have happened because your hamstrings are not conditioned to take the kind of workload your jogging and other activities causes. Advice for next 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning when pain subsides. - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. My wife, 65, a regular gym enthusiast, developed pain in the right shoulder which did not abate with any medication. A u. S scan indicated tendonitis. It is persisiting for the last 6 months. What is the remedy if there is one? is surgery an option? presently she applies topical gel and stretch band over the affected part. Your expert opinion please.

It seems you are suffering from frozen shoulder syndrome. Kindly show me rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Do hot fomentation ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Do neck & shoulder exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Surgery is usually not needed in such cases. But if at all it has to be done, you may come to delhi, we have some very good centers that look after this type of problems.

From past 4 years I'm having a headache problem whenever I get that I feel like my vision has become blurd and when the pain will increase my lip and fingertips become numb if I will bite also I won't feel anything. Your symptoms are that of migraine headache. 1)For headache relief take simple analgesics like paracetamol. 2)If frequency of migraine attacks is more than 1 episode in 1 week or you have severe disabling attacks, you will need to start medicines to decrease frequency and intensity of headache. 3) Follow lifestyle changes as below Follow these lifestyle changes to avoid headache 1. Maintain regular sleep wake cycle, even on holiday's. 2. Don't skip meals. Take regular healthy diet with adequate fluids 3. Do not consume excess caffeine / carbohydrates / alcohol or smoke. 4. I'm suffering from gas problem it continue more than five to six years now I am 35, I work as a accountant so, always siting in. Front of desktop i'm feeling very unfit from last two years i'm not fatty but belly is so increased my waist is 36 and belly 42 inch. So please tell me how to reduce my gas and leg shoulder elbow join pain? one things missing that is I have dysentery long time.

Your lifestyle is the major culprit in your increasing waistline. Rheumatoid arthritis is a self limiting disease. Acute phase can be managed with medicines. Physiotherapy helps in preventing contractures & deformities. Keep your moral up! any way take ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days you will need other supportive medicines also. Possibly you are suffering from cramps. Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 1 wk, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

FOr knee pain & swelling the best treatment course would be to undergo janu vasti at a panchakarma centre near u. After undergoing vasti, you shall be completely treated. If need the doc might prescribe you some ayurvedic medicines depending on your body type. Till then you can have drumstick soup daily. Also boil 2 pieces of garlic in 1 cup milk & 1 cup water. When 1 cup remains, strain & drink daily after adding 1 tsf cow ghee. Also apply dashang lep mixed in lukewarm water to the knee for 1 hr daily to knee till swelling subside.

There is definately no cure for ankylosing spondilitis but yes regular mobility exercises, stretching can reduce you pain and joint stifness to a great extent, so either consult a near by physiotherapist regularly or consult me for further guidence.

Hi some times I unable to sleep in nights. I try to sleep I just get 2hr continues sleep and there after I will not get sleep for 2 hours. I work in 2nd shift till 1'o clock. Some times I am able to sleep happily continuously. And some times not can you give any solution for getting good sleep.

1. You may be having anxiety or stress. Avoid stress. 2. You need 7-8 hours of sound sleep to remain healthy. 3. Go for regular exercise, Take part in games and sports, 4. Do yoga, meditation and deep breathing exercise like pranayama to calm your mind, control your emotion, relieve anxiety and improve concentration. 5. Adhere to a specific sleep time and regular schedule 6. Take light dinner. 7. Avoid taking tea/coffee at bed time. Have a glass of warm milk at bed time. 8. Don’t go to sleep immediately after dinner. Take a small walk after Dinner and if possible take hot water bath before sleep. Read a light magazine or interesting book before going to bed 9. Avoid late night. 10. Don’t sleep in day time 11. Don’t take sleeping pill 12. If no relief consult doctor.
