Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - we will get some blood tests for you - serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp once you have all these reports then you can contact me as I can advise you for proper supplementation do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Dear lybrate user, neck pain is very common. It is due to wrong posture of sleeping or sitting. You must take physiotherapy or you should do neck exercises. For immediate relief you must do massage of neck muscles. Do not take thick pillow.

Mr. Lybrate-user, you can apply some medicated oil like saptaguna oil and do hot fomentation. If your mattress is too soft change it to some hard bed. Maintain proper posture while sitting and driving. Take a glass of milk daily.

It needs to be investigated. Investigations advised - hb, tlc, dlc, esr, sugar f & pp, uric acid, vit d3 urine r/e x ray of the affected part. Anyway you may try- sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck back knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, inform. Consult an eye doctor also.

Bhujang asana -- lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. Repeat the exercise 15 times twice daily. Core strengthening exercises- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Do exercise like yoga and others. Eat more than before. Do not skip meals. Avoid fast foods as far as possible. Use extra refined foods with unrefined. Use dense fruits, vegetables. Eat extra fish, egg, milk, meat to gain weight. Use extra healthy fats in cooking. Avoid smoking, alcohol. Take sleep for 7-8 hours. These are basic but for more quick and guaranteed result consult me privately on lybrate.

Hello Robert, It will be better if you get your blood pressure checked. Although high blood pressure is less common at your age, it cannot be ruled out.

You are 23 years because of excess work you get drained out. Take vitamin b complex tablets for 3 months that will help you with your tierdness. And for the leg pain if its not severe and if its an muscle pain you can apply topical application of volini or use hot water/hot compression belts on that area if it becomes little more than usual then take a Diclofenac tablet once.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to actually have persistent back pains. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Regarding blood do consult your doctor and take appropriate management Back pain is quite common but do manage with Hot water fomentation thrice a day for 5 days regularly and stretching exercises from physiotherapist If calcium is very weak do Take tablets of your doctor's advice Best Wishes.

Hand- advice hot fomentation. Gentle stretching of hand muscles. Ball exercises. Wrist exerciser. Leg pain- for leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Hello according to your condition you have to take hot water fermentation through towel and do it 3 times in a day duration-15 min along with stretching and back exercises like straingh leg raising, bridging with -20 min repetition -5 sec hold do it for 3 days sure you will get well soon take care.

Tkr total knee replacement is a good procedure for oa knee, when done in properly selected patient. It gives uniformly good results. In our series we have over 90% satisfied patients. Pain disappears & patients are able to resume activities of daily living (adl) in 2-3 wks. Kindly show me x-rays & other reports so that a final decision is taken.
