Clear Aligner Treatment: Modern Approach For Teeth Alignment Without Braces

Clear Aligner Treatment: Modern Approach For Teeth Alignment Without Braces

In contrast to traditional braces, which typically involve the use of a network of connected brackets and wires in order to enhance tooth mobility, clear or invisible aligners is a relatively new approach when it comes to aligning teeth and involves the use of a number of custom-made tight-fitting retainers, which can slip over your teeth easily.

Clear orthodontic aligners are generally used for patients who either have minor spacing issues or have mildly crowded teeth. Moreover, since clear aligners are custom made for a tighter fit, they are more suited for adults and late teenagers and not for young children who are still growing and developing their teeth.

Initially, your doctor will try to correct your bite after, which he or she can proceed with fitting you several versions of aligners, which help make slight adjustments to move your teeth during the course of the treatment. Usually made of a clear acrylic or plastic material, clear aligners fit tightly over your teeth, but are removable for eating purposes or for brushing and flossing. Every few weeks, you will probably get a new aligner in order to help move your teeth into the desired location.

Depending upon how much your teeth need to be moved, treatment will generally take around ten to twenty four months to complete. However, if your teeth have but shifted just slightly, then treatment can be completed in just a matter of ten weeks.

Advantages of using clear orthodontic aligners over traditional braces include:

  1. You won't be having a "metal mouth" as with metal braces
  2. Can be easily removed before brushing or flossing
  3. Maintains good long-term oral health
  4. Helps give a better and brighter smile

Is there any solution to fill the space between teeth. And how more time it will take, because I wanna do as soon as possible. Please suggest me. Thank you.

Dentist, Gorakhpur
Yes there are many solutions available you must see a dentist. He will check and decide the treatment. He might suggest you fixed braces. But need to check whether the spacing is generalized or just in between 2or 3 tooth. Spacing can also be due to certain habits which might lay necessity for habit breaking appliance prior to any other treatment. So cannot mention time here.

I have bad breath problem my mouth starts stinking immediately 1 hour after brushing I feel very bad how can I get away from this problem.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Hyderabad
Bad breath or halitosis Can be due to- *Infections in gums, teeth or oral mucus of the mouth. * Sinusitis, nose block and tonsillitis will also cause this problem. *Dryness of mouth * If the teeth are crooked, ulcers may be caused and food particles may get stuck causing infection. *Eating and digestive disorders. *Dental plaque * Taking some medicines for other diseases. Taking care of your oral hygiene- •Use proper tooth brush and fluoride based tooth paste. Tongue cleaning is also very important. •Gargling your mouth after eating any food. •Avoid tobacco and smelly masala foods. •Treat underlying medical conditions •Crooked teeth to be corrected by braces at early age. •Drink plenty of water and avoid dryness of mouth. Homoeopathy has good treatment for your problem, without causing adverse effects. Take homoeopathic medicine Merc sol 30 twice daily in the morning and in the evening and give feedback after 6 days.

I have oral mouth problems. I am suffering from toothache and my gums also bleed while brushing. I do have cavities also. Thanks.

Dentist, Vadodara
For bleeding gums, go for scaling and polishing of teeth. For cavity, get your teeth x-rayed to determine the extent of decay. Depending on that, you can go for filling of cavities with tooth coloured cement with or without root canal treatment.

I have a mouth opening problem due to long use of gutkha chewing. Now I have quit the habit almost. But pls suggest medicines.

Dentist, Jaipur
There is not any word like almost. You should completely stop gutkha first. Start more and more intake of red tomatoes, vitamins, protein, salad in diet. Start some mouth excercise like filling of air in balloon, whistling, fill air in mouth at least 3-5 times in a day. If condition is not improving 2-3weeks. Consult to doctor for advance treatments.

Smoking or consuming smokeless tobacco is very harmful for your teeth. It can lead to various oral diseases like oral cancer, gingivitis, periodontists and tooth decay.

I have a pain in my teeth the pain is very harmful for me and my teeth become black and my teeth is aso in danger so what should I do?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
The type of treatment you have for toothache /sensitivity/swelling will depend on the cause of the pain, so your dentist will examine your mouth and may carry out an X-ray to try to identify the problem. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by tooth decay, your dentist will remove the decayed area and replace it with a filling. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling is caused by a loose or broken filling, the filling will be taken out, any decay will be removed and a new filling put in place. •If the pulp inside your tooth is infected, you may need root canal treatment. This procedure involves removing the infected pulp and then inserting a special type of filling to seal the tooth and prevent re-infection. •If your toothache / sensitivity/swelling can't be treated using these methods, or if your tooth is impacted (wedged between another tooth and your jaw), it may need to be removed.

6 and 2 year ago I gone thru RCT for theo tooth but I didn't fixed up CAP so now I can't eat well as food stuck in the drilled part, can I implant new tooth replacing those treated tooth.

Post-Graduate Certificate in Endodontics
Dentist, Cuttack
If you hav developed pain in that rct treated tooth then you hav to visit a dentist, do xray of that tooth. If everything comes fine, then only immediately go for capping. If the treated tooth comes problematic, then go for retreatment or extraction followed by capping or implant.

Sir there are black spots on my tongue and some time they look like small ulcer what may be the reason and suggest the treatment.

MDS - Orthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Porbandar
Some low blood haemoglobin level ( due to vitamin methylcobamin deficiency ) leads to black spots on tongue especially anterior part of tongue but this is only one sign and it would not confirm that' s it' s the only cause, but u can ask your physician or directly have a test for blood hb level check up done

I am seventy two years old. I am having pain in the lower jaw left 6, 7 tooth while biting and sometimes it is unbearable. Should remove those teeth? any conservative treatment possible? any medicine? to improve the life of tooth, any medicine?

Dentist, Delhi
It could be possible to save the tooth with rct or crowns or a combination of both depending on the exact cause of your current problem. Since the teeth you have mentioned are important ones for chewing, I suggest you should take whatever steps are suggested to preserve them rather than getting them removed.
