Condoms - 4 Surprising Facts About It!

Condoms - 4 Surprising Facts About It!

Condoms are the best contraceptive measure you take before having sex because unlike other contraceptive measure such as birth control pills, they actually provide almost fool-proof protection against STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). However, condoms need to be handled with care because if precaution isn’t taken while putting on the condom, it can cause tears on the surface. Here are 5 things you should know about condoms:

  1. Size does matter: 'One size fits all' might not be a good approach towards choosing a condom to wear, because thay come in different sizes. You should check the size at the back of the leaflet before buying it because buying a size that isn’t the right fit can result in tears which can put you and your partner at a risk of pregnancy and contracting STDs.
  2. Condoms do not affect the quality of sex: Contrary to popular belief, condoms do not have any effect on the quality of sex or the level of pleasure you derive from the intercourse. 98% people in a research confirmed this fact. So, not wearing a condom because “it doesn’t feel good” isn’t an excuse anymore.
  3. Latex allergies are a thing: Some people are predisposed to allergies caused due to the latex which most condoms are made of. Symptoms of latex allergy include itchiness, dryness and lesions on the foreskin. If these symptoms persist, don’t be embarrassed to rush to the doctor because the allergy can worsen and prove to be dangerous.
  4. The four types of condoms: The most common type of condom is the latex one, but because latex can cause allergies, an alternative material called polyurethane is used to make condoms too. For people who are allergic to both latex and polyurethane, polyisoprene condoms are a good option. The fourth type of condom is the lambskin condom which is made of lamb intestines. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a sexologist.

I want to get pregnant, I am trying since last 9 months, few months I feel that I am conceived but after three or four days of my period missing. My period again started. Me and my husband are trying our effort took medicine had check up but still 0. Can you just please suggest me something to try at home.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
To get pregnant you need to have regular sex i. E. 3-4 times a week for one full year before you start seeking medical help. If you want to make her pregnant fast then you can follow this calender method. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26 days to 31 days cycle, The shortest cycle (26 days) minus 18 days = 8th day. The longest cycle (31 days) minus 10 days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period.

Prp therapy k baad baal permanently rhte hai ya ek time period k baad jhadne v lagte hai? Prp therapy ka koi side effect to ni hai na? please btaiye na.

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, FMAS, DMAS
Gynaecologist, Noida
Hello, in the field of hair restoration, evidence supports prp therapy as a promising treatment option to promote hair growth. No claim can be made of its efficacy. While prp is in the early stages of scientific research in hair restoration, prp is not meant to replace current fda approved therapies such as dht blockers and minoxidil. But it is a promising non-surgical therapeutic option for those patients with hair loss.

I am 24 years old my weight is 93 kg after deleivery my weight is incerease I will do walking everyday and exserise but no improvement please any soultion for my weight problem.

PGDD, RD, Bachelor of Home Science

Eat small but frequent meals. Avoid long gaps in between meals. Avoid junk as far as possible. Exercise at least 4 times a week. Lastly be committed. Remember it's a lifestyle change and not a one time thing. There is no short cut. It's a balanced intake that will last you longer. All the so called diets will only give you muscle and bone loss. The fats will remain as it is. So, try to first follow this seemingly simple tips. You can't target a single body part. You need to work on overall fat loss and toning. Hopefully your body has not shut down the metabolism or plateaued which is common when you try to crash your diet. I am sure this suggestion will at least help you with initial fat loss. If you cant break the plateau you might need professional intervention.

Hi I am 34 weeks pregnant and yesterday noticed that there is cavity in my teeth and deep inside. Had been to dentist and doctor took X-ray and advice me for root canal. Since there is no pain and upon extra care can I postpone it till my delivery or is it better to get it done? As am worried about the safety of anesthesia and antibiotics and also just one month to go for delivery.

BDS
Dentist, Ahmedabad
First of all there's no need to take medicines after root canal. Mild discomfort will be there but you can bare that as you don't want to take medicines.. We can't say exactly when it will start paining but ya if you'll keep that cavities free of food after meal and gargles property after every meal and brush twice a day specially just before sleep at night then surely you can slow down the progression of cavity. It will be better if you postpone the R.C.T. till your delivery. Have a warm wishes for tout upcoming baby. God Bless Her/Him... Jay Swaminarayan.

Sometimes conception occurs late in case of irregular cycles. Get repeat scan done after 10 days. Don't be anxious. If tsh is normal, no need to worry.

I had sex on 7 march. My periods dates are 22 march. I missed my periods. I have done pregnancy test and the result is positive. I want abortion. Which pills should I take? Will it have side effects to my body in future? Please help me.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Pregnancy can be terminated with abortion pill only till 7 weeks of pregnancy. You need to hurry to get the abortion done with medicines as you must be around 6 weeks by now. Dates are calculated from the first day of last menses. Gynecologist only can write a prescription for you. There r very few side effects but they r easily manageable.

He told me that I have some problem that I am not able to feel. Whether the reality is I like to cuddled with him but don't like to see or get into him. Means never feel to take intercourse after every thing. What is it?

Ok, if you are going through any stress, anxiety, depression, these things happen. You need to manage all these things. If you are otherwise ok, you must go for homoeopathic treatment as it may help you.

I am 33 years old married for 3 years now. I am not able to conceive till date. However 1 gyneac suggested me to do laparoscopy surgery. Request you to pls suggest me will this help in conceiving.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
To get pregnant you need to have fallopian tubes patent which is checked by hsg test and semen should be adequate quality which is checked by semen analysis. These both tests are done before the treatment of any infertile couple. Once the above tests are normal, then treatment with clomiphene citrate is started with monitoring of egg. Laparoscopy is done only when initial treatment failed for u.

What should I do. Can I still get pregnant? I don't wanna be pregnant again im not ready.

MBBS, MS - Obstetrics and Gynaecology, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist, Bangalore
If you don't get periods beyond 6 months after delivery, it's best to consult a doctor and take medications to ensure there is no pregnancy and start using regular contraception. There is always a possibility of pregnancy even if you don't get period. If there is no pregnancy you can use a Copper T to prevent pregnancy.

Hi Doctor, Is there any possibilities to get pregnant with twins if not gender specific without that family background. Also is there any medicines which are helpful in it. I have very irregular periods and due to which my chances of getting pregnant becomes less. I also have post pregnancy weight after birth of my daughter is there any medical methods available.

Homeopath, Anand
First of all, according to me get treatment for irregular periods. After that your ovulation will be regular which would increase chances of pregnancy. Medically there are no treatment or methods to get twins. And you should not opt for any as its natural process. For post pregnancy weight gain, body massage and yoga is helpful. There are many home made remedies which are safe and effective.
