Respected sir/mam, I and my friend had sex some days before. It was healthy sex. Now she is facing pain in vagina. However its not her first time. So please tell me the causes and cure for the pain.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
Hello- Women can experience pain during or after sex, either in the vagina or deeper in the pelvis. Pain in the vagina could be caused by: an infection – thrush or a sexually transmitted infection (STI), such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea or genital herpes. Good hygiene can help alleviate symptoms of intercourse pain. Avoid scented bath products, such as body washes and shower gels, as they can irritate your genital area and deplete your natural lubrication. Douche with infusions made from antiseptic herbs such as calendula, garlic, goldenseal, fresh plantain, St. John's wort or tea tree oil along with other herbs such as comfrey leaves to soothe irritation.

My age 25 married. I had fibroadenoma from past 3 years known through mammography done by a doctor she suggested to remove them by surgery. Now if I get pregnant it would be safe or any problems will occur and also suggest me treatment to cure these fibres permanently.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, Diplomate of National board in Surgical Oncology
General Surgeon, Kolkata
Hi lybrate-user fibroadenoma is physiological response of breasts to female hormone. It often disappears after pregnancy. So relax they are not precursor to breast cancer. So donot panic un necessarily. A lot of people get operated under this misconception. With no benefit. Treatment with medicines are enough to resolve them. They donot interfere with pregnancy nor do they harm yur future baby.

There r chances of pregnancy if the relationship was in her fertile period. If she doesn't get her regular cycle on time, check your first morning urine for pregnancy with the pregnancy kit.

Critical Factors That Attribute to Low Libido

MD - Alternate Medicine, M-CSEPI, BHMS
Sexologist, Pune
Critical Factors That Attribute to Low Libido

Low libido can affect a relationship in a big way. Time and again, an individual, irrespective of their age, gender or occupation can go through phases of low libido. Decreased sexual desire over a longer period of time needs thorough investigation. It could be an indication of something big and serious lying ahead.

Critical factors that attribute to low libido are:

  1. Stress: An individual's mental and emotional state is greatly reflected in their sexual performance. A sound mental health can enhance a performance thousand folds. On the contrary, factors like depression, anxiety and stress, lowers the sexual desires in a person. To enjoy a healthy and normal sexual life, it is important to keep stress and chronically blue moods at bay.
  2. Sound sleep: The benefits of a sound sleep are beyond imagination. A good 6 - 8 hours of sleep can do your sexual desires or libido a world of good. A sleep deprived soul will be agitated and cranky, both on and off the bed. Continuous sleep deprivation can also lower the testosterone level, resulting in low libido.
  3. Smoking: A killer habit, which affects a person's sexual activity is smoking. Drug abuse and drinking (to some extent) can be equally responsible for a low libido.
  4. Change in weight: A sudden change in body weight (gain or loss) can play a significant role in low libido. Take pride in your body structure. There is nothing to be ashamed of.
  5. Take a break: Boredom can mask your sexual life greatly. Break the monotony, take short breaks, go on vacations and low libido will be a thing of the past.
