Dear at this age shaking of hand may be due to anxiety or excessive alcohol use or thyroid disorder. Get tsh, t3, t4 done, stop alcohol if abusing. If you feel yourself worried always, can not relax, have dry mouth, palpitation, excessive sweating, churning sensation in stomach, dizziness etc then you may be suffering from anxiety. Treatment of anxiety with medicines may also cure this shaking of hands.

Does lack of oxygen at the time of early childhood result in fit in the long run? Is it curable in adulthood? My doctor says it is different from epilepsy. The patient is around 42. Please guide.

MD Pediatric
Pediatrician, Mumbai
Yes lack of oxygen supply to brain lead to brain cell damage which may manifest as seizure or epilepsy in long run. Brain cells damaged in childhood can not be repaired but manifestations can be controlled with drugs. Appropriate antiepileptic drugs should be given to patient to keep him seizure free. Antiepileptic drugs doesn't have a blanket rule for dosage. Each patient individually needs titration of drug dosage and doctor see what dose suits him. It requires patience. Target is to control seizures completely because each seizure episode itself decrease oxygen supply to brain and further damages brain.

I am 38 years old. I am suffering from epilepsy when I was 8 years old. I am taking EPTOIN tablets since 8 years. Is there any chance to completely cure.

When you are seizure free for 2 years, neurologist will do EEG and attempt dose reduction, if epilepsy does not recur, can be stopped, else need to continue.
