Hi I take diclomol tablet when I get a migraine. In a month I tend to get an attack every week. So I end up taking at least 4-5 of these tablets a month. Is this not advisable? If I don't medicate the pain is unbearable and I cannot function. I can't think nor focus. I get very nauseous and giddy. I have to lie down in a cool place with less light n no sound. I've been suffering since the age of 10. I am 37 years old now and desperate for a solution.

Neurologist, Kolkata
Dear friend, If you are having migraine, diclomol is not the solution in your case. First of all, the frequency of headache and the amount of disability you mentioned is severe enough to start a prophylactic medication which will decrease the intensity, frequency and duration of headache. Please remember although migraine is not curable, it is controllable. Besides these, you need to follow several life style measures like disciplined life, avoidance of precipitating factors, exercises, yoga, music therapy etc. So, cheer up! as you can be much better from now. Please attend a Neurologist at the earliest opportunity for confirmation of the diagnosis and better management. Please remember NSAIDS may alter the pattern of headache and later it may be difficult to treat or even may lead into" medication overuse headache" Wish you will be better soon!

As your father is 62 years of age, at this age our organs performance gets slow day by day. As your father is having pain in neck and other parts of body this is for sure that your father has constipation. And fatty liver you need to visit nearest acupuncturist for this.

I have migraine problem. I have checked by many doctors. Even they prescribed lots of tests. But they couldn't find any disease they always said that nothing you have. But when I have headache I can not do any work even my first priority is to take medicine paracetamol and take a sleep, and I always do vomiting when I have headache. This occurs 15-20 times in a month. I need permanent solution for my headache.

Neurologist,
Hello. Sorry to hear about your headache problem. If migraines are occurring as frequently as you experience, you need to take a daily medication to get the situation under control, besides continuing to take SOS medication for acute headaches. Also, it becomes important to observe lifestyle precautions to prevent headaches-- having a regular lifestyle, sleeping well, drinking plenty water, aerobic exercise-- can all help prevent headaches. Besides note what foods could be triggering your headaches. Best,

Right side of my brain I get light swelling some time when I was in stress and pressure. So I wanna reason for this. Is this brain tumor.

M.S (surgery), M.Ch - Neuro Surgery
Neurosurgeon, Gurgaon
Cause of brain tumor is not known. There are only a few known risk factors exposure to radiation, pre existing genetic conditions. Previous cancers headache not responding to routine medication gradually become more frequent and more severe, unexplained projectile vomiting. Changes in mental ability / personality / concentration / memory. Voice change, speech difficulty. Visual disturbances such as diminished vision, blurred vision, double vision. Gait disturbance difficulty in balancing not able to walk straight. Convulsions episodes of loss of consciousness. Consult a neurosurgeon who is trained to handle brain tumors. These days multiple treatment options are available for brain tumors but primary treatment still is surgical removal.
