My son is suffering from TICS. Which Doctor should I consult - neurologist, psychiatrist or a homeopathy doctor?

General Physician, Alappuzha
These movements, known as tics and twitches, often affect the eyelids or face. They can, though, occur anywhere in the body. In most instances, tics and twitches are harmless and temporary. In some cases, though, they may be caused by a tic disorder. A neurologist can help

Which milk to give to a 11 months old baby and how many times? Which powder to be added.

It's best time to develop taste for food. Offer him everything you eat at home ( rice/ chapati/ veggies/ dal/ egg) with some modifications according to his nutritional needs. Like, simply you can add milk in all sweet preparations instead of water and can add little ghee / paneer in all salty preparations . Offer him milk, 3-4 times in a day. Give him undiluted whole milk . You can opt for Cow's milk too. In Formula milk , Enfamil A+ , is a good preparation .

Dear lybrate-user When benefit outweigh the risk medicines are given to the children under 1 year age and your doctor had done his job best by helping you with the medication. Please don’t have any doubt in continuing the medication. And also please don’t use medication on your own or on any online suggestions because you are trying to treat a small baby. Take the baby to near by pediatrician whenever the baby falls sick. Get well soon.

He most likely has stomach infection. Children don't tolerate the milk and solid foods in big amounts. It is best to give small amount of clear fluids frequently for a few hours after a syrup medicine to stop vomiting. You can try small amount of milk or semiisolid diet after 3-4 hours if no vomiting. Take him back to hospital if he is persistently vomiting.

My grandson is 6 years old and is underweight. At the time of birth, he was healthy and had + normal weight. He does not eat any sweet except chocolate and banana. He is energetic but falls sick frequently like a mild fever. I feel that sugar is essential for the growth of children. Do you suggest anything to improve his health / weight?

BSc, Pg Diploma In Food Science & Nutrition, Sensory Evaluation of Food, Certified Diabetes Educator
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Yes, sugar is essential for growth of the brain. The restriction at this age should be applicable for junks and highly processed foods which do nothing good for kids. Giving them all fruits, sugar, little chocolate, dates is absolutely fine. If he is falling ill frequently shows that his immunity is weak and needs balanced healthy diet which he might be lacking. Give him healthy food frequently. If you need anyfurther help you can freely book appointment with us.

I have my five month running I want to ask regarding baby movement daily he was moving but today he was not moving I am bathing with cool water was this reason he was not moving?

Though may be difficult to digest try to understand- Less movements means two possibilities either it is just change in activities like us we have less on same lazy day or there is problem so moves less. First is not important. If second at 5 months you can bring out baby so not worth worrying about though same at later stage will be important when baby can be brought out. Just by going to obstetrician confirm heart sounds of baby
