Sir u should get an audiometry test done. This usually occurs due to ageing process. If there is hearing loss in audiometry(neural type) then only treatment is hearing aid.

Hi, Get her blood tested for CBC, Hb%, S. Calcium, S. Ferritin and ESR. Simple nutritional deficiency can cause general weakness of the body. Would advise you to give her homoeopathic medicines - Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos. - both thrice daily, and let me know about your condition after a month.

You can donate blood without any hesitation. Nasal steroid sprays are safe and absorption into blood is insignificant. Just go ahead and donate blood.

My ear is blocked. Kindly suggest.

DNB (ENT), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist,
My ear is blocked. Kindly suggest.
Hi . Most common cause for ear block is ear wax. Do not use earbuds to clean as you may push the wax deeper inside. Apply soliwax ear drops 3 drops at night in the ear that is blocked for 3 days. It is advised however that you see an ent to confirm that the block is due to ear wax.

If you are overweight then shed some weight first. Omit sugar, cold drinks and fried foods from your menu.

My wife is having a hole in the left ear and having discharge of pus frequently. During treatment with antibiotics discharge is controlled. But after some period same problem is repeating. During consultation with an ent, he suggested for operation and grafting of new ear drum as a permanent remedy. Is this operation is required. Are there any alternative. What are the plus and minus point of this operation. Kindly send a detailed opinion

MS - ENT(Gold Medalist), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Delhi
It depends on the size of hole. If it is small then there are chances of self healing with conservative management and few precautions but if large and associated with hearing loss one has to go for operation (myringoplasty). Its not a very big procedure and done under local anaesthesia with no major post op complications. First u need to get an audiometry done to know the amount of hearing loss. U can send me the reports.

Teachers who have habit of speaking loudly usually develop irreversible damage to the vocal cords, over the time voice becomes hoarse, the best remedy is to stop shouting.
