Hello lybrate user- yes this might be due to gaseous distention as a result of irregular digestion. Try these ayurvedic tips- a) avoid day sleep and excess of water or liquid intake (not more thn 2 lts /day) b) use lasunadi vati 1 tab twice daily before meals panchakolasava 2 tsp twice daily with water. You will get relief within a weeks time.

Hello, The symptoms of haemorrhoids include: Bright red bleeding from the anus. Blood may streak the bowel movement or the toilet paper. Tenderness or pain during bowel movements. Painful swelling or a lump near the anus. Anal itching. A mucus anal discharge. Colon polyps, colitis, Crohn's disease, and colorectal cancer can also cause rectal bleeding. An accurate diagnosis by local examination a doctor is essential as well as further investigations may require. Swollen veins (hemorrhoids) can develop from an increase in pressure in the lower rectum. Factors that might cause increased pressure include: Straining during bowel movements Sitting for long periods of time on the toilet Sedentary lifestyle Chronic diarrhea or constipation Obesity Pregnancy Anal intercourse Low-fiber diet Hemorrhoids are more likely as you get older because the tissues that support the veins in your rectum and anus can weaken and stretch with aging. Medication: Take homoepathic medication - Aesculus Hipp. 30/ thrice daily and apply Topi-Aesculus cream over the piles for few months. If it’s better, then continue or else will have to go for other options such as rubber band ligation, surgery, cauterization, etc. Management: Soak regularly in a warm bath or sitz bath. Soak your anal area in plain warm water 10 to 15 minutes two to three times a day. A sitz bath fits over the toilet. You can get one at most drugstores. If you are constipated, use a laxative. Keep the anal area clean. Bathe (preferably) or shower daily to cleanse the skin around your anus gently with warm water. Soap isn't necessary and may aggravate the problem. Avoid alcohol based or perfumed wipes. Gently dry the area with a hair dryer after bathing. Don't use dry toilet paper. To help keep the anal area clean after a bowel movement, use moist towelettes or wet toilet paper that doesn't contain perfume or alcohol. Apply cold. Apply ice packs or cold compresses on your anus to relieve swelling. Walking is the best exercise for your whole body as well as the piles as it increases the blood circulation to every part of body. Avoid sitting for long hours together. Include more fibrous food in your diet like fruits, green vegetables, salads.

What are the symptoms of typhoid? What are precautions regarding it and how to get cured of it?

BAMS
Ayurveda, Bangalore
Hi. The symptoms of typhoid are as follows: - prolonged pyrexia, usually remittent - headache - abdominal distension - constipation followed by loose motions - malaise - vomitting - dry coated tongue -bradycardia - enlargement of liver and spleen. The duration of the illness is usually about four weeks but may remain for eight weeks or more if untreated. Regarding precautions, be careful while eating outside food. Do not consume uncooked or raw food like vegetable salads, chatnis, buttermilk, lassi, raita, cut fruits, etc. Drink only boiled and cooled water or mineral water. One can even secure himself by taking typhoid vaccine which protects your body for 2 years. Take complete bed rest. Consume high protein diet like sprouts, egg, soya, milk and milk products to regain the energy and strength which is lost due to the infection. Avoid spicy and oil fried food. Consume plenty of fluids. Take the antibiotics prescribed by the doctor for 10-14 days. Avoid outside food and fresh and hot home made food is preferred.

Hello sir, I am 22 years old. Its been two days its paining at right side below my naval while coughing, during sneeze, during waking up after sleep, I short when stress on stomach. I am very worried. Please tell me what is its cause. Is it a type of cancer. Please help me out.

MD - Homeopathy, BHMS
Homeopath, Vadodara
Hi lybrate-user. There are more than 10 organs in stomach. And any one of them can cause pain. And any simple disturbances of them can cause pain. So don't jump to conclusions like cancer. It can be just gas ,or renal stone, or hernia or ulcer etc. Only one way to find out is to take proper test. Like sonography.

I'm a 35 year single woman weighing 60 kgs and height 5 feet 4 inches. I've been pretty active, esp last year I trekked for about 10 days to high altitudes, while in the city took power yoga, zumba, and weight lifting classes. Ran twice a week. I've experienced sharp unbearable pain in my ankle. No fractures and sprains. Parents have flat foot, docs have been telling me it could be due to that. Can't stand for more than 2 hours and walk continuously for long. Pain killers have not helped much and I do not want any more pain killers. How to treat the pain and condition of flat foot? please suggest. I'm wearing silicon medial arches now.

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Delhi
Flat foot at times causes pain. But we must rule out other causes as well rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Physiotherapy usually helps any way take caldikind plus (mankind) 1tab odx10days paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. You must have x rays of your feet done.
