Avoid sitting cross legged. Avoid squatting- quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.

Take enough fluids esp coconut water (to correct any electrolyte imbalance) esp post your volleyball session. And get the knee checked by a physiotherapist as you may have sprained a lig.

according your age it can due to over strain activity so do hot fermentation and put a towel roll under knee and press for 10 second then release repeat 10 to 20 times twice a day. it will help you otherwise physiotherapy treatment. if u HV calcium deficiency then a x-ray must. avoid long standing till relief

Hi I can understand your problem 1) avoid activities that make your symptoms worse 2) apply ice packs 3) start physiotherapy treatment as electrotherapy will reduce pain inflammation 4) exercise and mannual therapy will help in painfree movement. Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have back pain since a long time for which we will require evaluation. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like mri of your affected region of spine, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Backache in young age is commonly due to 1. Muscle strain resulting from improper posture. 2. Intervertebral disc bulge or prolapse. Follow these to get relief. 1. Take anti inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen round the clock for pain relief 2.Take rest for 3 to 4 days but avoid total bed rest. 4. Do back strengthening and stretching exercises daily once pain is relieved. 5.Apply analgesic cream over back followed by warm fomentation. 6. Keep pillow behind your knees at bedtime. While sleeping on sides keep pillow between knees. 7. Do not bend and lift weights. 8. If back pain is accompanied with radiating leg pain or tingling , numbness or weakness, consult immediately Don't worry such backaches resolve with proper care as advised above. Do the cat/cow avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretchingstretch.

I am 30 years old last couple of months I m facing spondylosis problem, what should I do?

1.Increase intake of oily foods that are easily digested, sweet things, purified butter, vegetable soups, milk and almonds. 2.Avoid rice, refined flour, kidney beans, and other foods that cause flatulence. 3.Avoid physical and mental exertion. 4.Get a good night’s sleep. 5.Have regular, gentle body massage with lukewarm sesame oil. 6.Dhanurasan and Ujjai Pranayam are highly recommended. 7.Peel two cloves of garlic and crush it. Add this to a glass of milk. Boil it on a mild flame till one-fourth glass remains. Filter and make two equal parts. Drink one part in the morning and the other in the evening. 8.Warm mustard oil or sesame oil (1 teaspoon) with 3-4 cloves of crushed garlic and 1 tsp of ajwain (carom) seeds until it roasts to a reddish brown colour. Ensure that it does not get burned. Massage this oil on your affected areas. After that do hot fomentation with salt potli (bag).....

Hello Jack, Stress, tension, anxiety, thyroid problems, hormonal imbalances etc are the most common reasons for insomnia. If you are having back and neck problems while sleeping, even that can cause discomfort leading to inability to sleep. You can try changing your mattress or pillow. Try using a hard mattress as it is helpful if you have spondylosis of any sort. Besides, you can take Tablet Atarax 10 mg, one tablet at bed time. This is a very mild sedative and will help you sleep better.
