Hi lybrate-user, I am liver transplant surgeon. Yes sir Grade 2 fatty liver is a reversible change in the liver and it can be treated with change in your life style. It may or may not need medicines. Please send me your usg report. We will have to see if you need any medicines or is it treatable without medicines only I can recommend your medicines if need be. Please provide me your medical history, whether you have any previous history of hypertension, diabetes or any deranged cholesterol levels, thank you and take care.

Hi lybrate-user, Do get a liver function test done. Given that you have a fatty Liver, stop taking alcohol completely. Atleast till the time your results come and are within normal limits. Also get checked for other causes of fatty live that is. Thyroid function, lipid profile and blood sugar. If you have one of these abnormal you will need medicine apart from staying off alcohol. One more aspect is how much willing you are to quit and of you need help with that. If you can't quit yourself, then there are medications to reduce craving as well.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user, With fatty liver, wee have to see your LDL and TGL and not only total cholestrol. Orvas has atorvaststin whihch is a medicaation to lower cholestrol. There are many medicines to lower cholestrol. If you have NASH (non alcoholic steatohepatits, the, Atorvas is not the drug of choice). Please send me your cholestrol report to see if you really need medication and if yes, then which one. I also need to know if you are diabetic or have any thyroid probles as they can contribute to having fatty liver. Take care.

Hi, Fatty liver is a common finding in ultrasound. One of the common causes are over weight. O other is nafld (non alcoholic fatty liver disease). Nafld is usually associated with hypothyroidism, raised cholesterol, diabetes. Start with calculating your bmi and getting liver function tests. If this is nafld we will have to start mediation, other wise of its only high bmi then treatment will be weight reduction. Why should you treat fatty liver? It in itself is not an immediate problem. But long standing nafld and if progresses cn lead to liver fibrosis and liver cirrhosis. That usually happens over a long period 15-20 years. So to you should treat if it needs treatment, especially if you are young So bottom line: need bmi and liver function test.

Fatty Liver with high BMI, Diabetes, hypothyroidism is a risk for NASH. NASH if neglected for a long time can progress to fibrosis and then cirrhosis in certain percentage of patients. (about 10%). Please mention the medications she is taking and send her blood sugar reports and Liver function test. There is specific treatment indications for starting treatment. Hope this helps.

Hello sir
My question is if the enlargement of pre and paraaortic nodes are there whether there will be pain in abdom...
Para aortic and pre aortic may not cause pain by themselves unless too big in size. For that I will need to see your ultrasound or CT report. These nodes are enlarged because of ongoing disease process. Most common are tuberculosis (for which you are taking AKT 4) and lymphoma (tumor of lymphatic system usually treated with chemotherapy). The disease process can cause pain. It is important to treat the cause and not the pain alone. The diagnosis requires atleast Chest ray, CBC, and lymph node biopsy. If you have any other enlarged lymph nodes in neck or armpit, or groin, biopsy can be taken from there. If the diagnosis of tuberculosis has been confirmed by CXR, CT abdomen, serology test or culture then you may not need a biopsy. The bottom line is that the diagnosis for the disease has to be confirmed other wise taking AKT will be like shooting in the dark and not cure your problem. I hope you get the drift of what I want to convey.
